I tried a door, being sure to disarm any booby traps, and immediately I was pleased. The long narrow room was lined with shelves of artefacts. I wandered along, looking over the merchandise, while considering how crazy it was than within hours of getting here two people knew that I was less than law abiding and I was trespassing within a 'council' owned building and about to steal from them... Giles would be less than happy. Faith would probably find it funny... I shrugged, oh well. Here we go. I had found an entire shelf of ancient amulets- not the cursed kind, I was fairly sure they would be kept in a more secure room elsewhere. In fact, most of these were entirely harmless... the reason I was interested was that they were priceless. Some of the stones set in these were incredibly rare, not to mention the solid gold many were inbedded in. I pulled a little black bag out of my back pocket, and filled it with my shiny prizes. All I had to do was find the right fence and I would be set for quite a while. I secured the top of the bag and left the room again, resetting the traps I'd disarmed.

As Doc and Maya separated, each finding their own piece of worth, Kyler decided to remain with Maya, as per instructed by Martin, though he would give her some time and space, first, to take her fill. As she was filling up a small pouch with bits and pieces - obviously here for physical gain rather than intellectual, Kyler played the naive young teenager, watching, acting as if taking mental notes - though he was, just not on what it seemed he was. He wasn't here for documents or gold... but for information of his own, though he still wasn't sure why - he was thinking it might just be a training exercise... 'obtain as much information as possible from someone obviously more experienced than yourself'.
"Who would buy such things? They look much too expencive for most people to buy... and those who had enough to buy them, would most likely be suspicious of their origin." He commented, purposefully revealing that he knew more than it seemed, though not yet actually revealing anything important - a subtle "I'll let you in on a few secrets if you will return the favour", if you will...

Doc walked into the room, quickly moving along the files. C'mon, he thought. Where do they keep the stuff on Potnetial retrievals, gotta be here somewhere.

I flashed a grin at my younger companion, "You would be surprised." I replied. "Alot of seriously wealthy collectors dont give a damn where it came from as long as it cant be proved that they had anything to do with stealing it. Plus foreign royalty love these type of things. The tricky part is finding a middle man with the right contacts... I know a few but I'm not sure they operate around here."

Kyler returned the smile, listening intentively to what she was saying... was she enjoying educating him?
"So how do you figure out who you should talk to about them, and who you should avoid?" He asked, genuine curiosity in his voice... as much as he was here for recon reasons, he was also relatively inexperienced, and so the topic was intriguing to him, and not for some alterior reason.
He eyed a few things in the room himself, wondering if he could try this as well... he already had Martin training him in many areas, if she was willing, why not have Maya train him in the art of theft and fencing stolen items?

Warning bells clanged in my head. Not that i thought he was trying to screw me over, but playing teacher to some dude I met on a roof top was not why I came to town. If he messed up and my contacts got compromised, that would come back to me. "Sorry." I said, fairly genuinely, "Trade secrets." I checked that the traps were all as I found them, and headed back to the main door to see whether Doc had had any luck.

"Finally," he muttered, looking through the files. "where is she, where is...? YES!" He yelled in triumph, holding the folder out. "Finally and eureka. No w to get hte hell out of here."

"You found your sisters file?" I asked, "That was quick." I shrugged, "Lets get outta here then."

"They have a good filing system?" He asked, shrugging. "that or they magicked it up. One of the two. but yeah, i got and I'm gonna read it after we blow this popsicle stand."

Kyler had quickly snatched a few things that looked of value - at least they would to a pawnbroker, ensuring to disarm and rearm any traps as he did so, and hid them, heading back to Doc just in time to hear him use another one-liner, which made Kyler grimace... again.
"How about we just go?" Kyler asked as he arrived.

"Geez, kids these days," Doc groused as the vacated. "No sense of humour, no sense of style. What are they teaching you these days?"

I smirked, but followed Doc without a word. He was someone I thought I could spend time with... y'know, if that wasn't entirely against my whole life ethic and he wouldn't hate me the moment he found out what I was...

"To survive." Kyler responded, deciding to add his own bit of quirkiness and see how Doc reacted for one, "and to be bloody good at it."
It was completely unlike him... but it was Kyler, remaining in character, and using some of Azoth to help him achieve it.

"Well, that's good," Doc said as they headed for the window. "Cause if it were to hide things, then yyou bloody well suck at it," yeah, okay, that was a bit harsh, but it was obvious to Doc that Kyler was hiding something. You don't train 18 years and not pick that much up at least.

It was already plainly obvious to Kyler that Doc knew there was something else about Kyler than what he showed... but that was obvious from the start, and so it didn't strike Kyler too much when he said that - he had felt the Talent surging through him from the beginning, hadn't he? Besides, Kyler knew he wasn't going to be as good as these two professionals at what he did, he was still in training... Martin told him not to be shocked when people found things out that he didn't want them to, it would only cloud his mind and make him screw up further.
'Just hold on to what you still have.' Kyler thought to himself, and watched as Doc headed over to the window. He was going to use the window? This high up?
Kyler had planned on heading out through the roof again, and perhaps setting off an alarm and being gone before anyone got here; make the job look unprofessional... it was a good way to keep whoever owned this place - Doc and Maya made them out to be dangerous, off-guard.
