I strolled down the dark streets, knowing that few would wander so calmly through LA as it was these days. A light breeze played through my hair, and I breathed deep. It was not that the air was particuarly fresh- quite the contrary- but since I had left Faith and Rupert, I had felt, for the first time in several years, free. I was not on the run. I didn't have to constantly look over my shoulder. The cloaked men would not return, the first was gone, defeated by the same people who gave me the strength I revelled in. I was grateful to the pair for dragging me back from the brink of my suicidal depression... I hadn't cared about anyone or anything, including myself, intent only on seeking out and destroying demons, nomatter the cost, nomatter whether they were even dangerous... My lips quirked into an odd smile... I suppose little had truly changed... my purpose was still the same... I was just... more stable, I suppose. They had taught me that I was not entirely alone... and yet I had refused to stay with them, or go join one of the groups they offered to contact. They had even said that I could go in search of her if I wanted, and fight by the side of the original slayer... but that all meant joining their little save the world squad... and that I had little interest in. I sighed, and spotting a fire escape down an alley, climbed up to the roof of one of the many office blocks, and settled on the edge, one knee bent up on which I rested my chin, while the other foot dangled over the edge. I looked out over the city and smiled softly to myself. Yes, I think maybe I could put up with LA for a little while at least...

He grimaced as she came over the edge and just.... sat there. Crap and double crap. Was she a guard? Slayer? He wasn't sure, he couldn't tell, he wasn't a mind reader. He just new she was sitting on his entrance point.
He settled into the shadows, watching her carefully. He could wait a little longer. He had time. Not like he had anything else to do.

Martin said to be here... and that's why he was. Kyler had his hodded coat wrapped around him and he crunched over, to look as if part of a shadow. His mask covered his face: he couldn't create masks with his Talent, like Martin did, hell, he couldn't use it at all, but he had learnt how to compensate. His grey/black mask had eyeholes and not much else, it was simple and it concealed his face well.
The girl sitting on the edge of the building top was who Martin said would be here... but who was this man? Kyler decided to put his skills to use - he had always been good with stealth, Martin decided that his Talent must be in it somehow, even though it wasn't active.
Kyler would creep up on this man, and discover what he could, and if he was caught, he would act as if that were his intention. He knew how to do it, it was just getting it right, when it mattered, that Kyler hadn't fully perfected.

I made note of the man who looked up at me, filing him away in my consciousness while not allowing him to interupt my train of thought. Who wouldnt stare a little at someone sat on the edge of a tall building? There was also... something... in the alley to the side of the building, in the shadows... again I wasn't going to let it bother me, but I had been on the run too long to take any potential threat for granted. If either of these intruders came too close, they would know about it.

Okay update: aside from the girl, there was also another sneaking up on him. Doc tilted his head slightly, feeling the mana in the man. Talented. Interesting, though not overly surprising. Between the apparently 'good' vampire Rogue, himself and now this, it was almost like the supernatural was being drawn to the city.
With a small smile, he gathered mana into his limbs, letting a small burst out to let the other Talented know he'd been spotted. This was much more interesting than he'd thought it would be.

I felt a strange pulse of energy emanating from the man who had looked at me. I rolled my eyes, ok so he wasn't just any old human. I sighed, could I not make it through one night in a new city without a run in with something supernatural? I closed my eyes briefly, taking in everything I could about my surroundings. I wasn't bothered enough to make a deal of this unnecessarily, but if they approached me, I would be ready.

Kyler wasn't sure if revealing himself to the woman sitting atop the building was the best of ideas, but in order to not seem overly suspicious, he had to reveal himself to the Talented man. He thought of that man as Talented in the loosest way possible. Martin had always taught him that the Talented should not reveal their Talent unless absolutely necessary, and Martin often followed his own law, sneaking, breaking into things, and even fighting, without activating his Talent unless it was absolutely necessary.
It wasn't so easy for Kyler to do likewise. The huge amount of mana that surged through his body, which he had no way of getting rid of, was like a beacon to other Talented humans, letting them all know he had Talent within him. There was nothing he could do about that, and it came to a huge disadvantage, but he coped.
Kyler decided to reveal himself from the shadows to the man, remembering that he had to, at some point, address the woman in any case, and so, he stepped out. He kept his mask on, not wanting to reveal his identity to the man, as Martin had told him not to do so to anyone unless informed as such by Martin, or was at school, and his grey hooded coat concealed the majority of the rest of his body. A slight glitter came from the wristbands he was wearing, though they were also attached under the coat sleaves, and so could barely be seen. Under his coat, dark clothing - mostly black, made him blend better with the night.
"Admiring the view?" He asked, allowing his mana to surge through him, the amount of which would usually act as a warning - it tended to give the illusion that he was more powerful than whoever he was facing, an entity, rather than a human, although that was not the reality.

I scowled, deliberately not looking down at the two figures. They were both emanating the same energy, and now they were chatting... it seemed as though they must be together. Which meant that if they were a threat, I would have to face both of them. A small smile crept onto my lips... this might be fun after all.

"Actually, I was hoping to break in to the offices below us, but it appears I'm not the only one liking this building," Doc said, looking at the woman. "Also, you'll noticed she stiffened a bit when we flared? I have a feeling she's not as normal as she looks. So, two choices. We can a)kick the crap out of each other, b) introduce ourselves, c) invite her into the conversation or d) walk away. Which would you prefer?" He gave a slightly feral grin that said he didn't care either way as he leaned agains the wall. "Well?"

Quite a mouth on him, this one, and he sounded as if he thought he could back it up. There was no reason to test that theory, and Kyler wasn't here to get into any violent confrontations, regardless. Sure, Martin told him he would make enemies, by why start so early?
"It would seem that she's already keeping an eye on us as it is, I would propose that we go and find out why." Kyler attempted to keep his voice lower pitch than usual, in order to add to the mask, for now, he was happy to remain acquaintances, until, at least, he could come up with an alias for this mask he wore.

I wished that the slayer powers stretched to enhanced hearing... I didn't like not knowing what these two were saying to eachother.

"Then let's go introduce ourselves," Doc said, turning from the Talented and heading towards the woman. The other Talented was probably underestimating him. Okay, yeah he wasn't the best, but he was sneaky and tended to cheat at times. A point in his favour.
With a smile he walked over to her, sitting down, his legs hanging over hte building. "Hiya."

I looked sideways at him without moving my head. Upclose it was obvious to me that he was definitely human, and that was a start I suppose... "Hi." I replied.

Kyler brought in the rear, following the man to towards the lady. He had no intention of getting too close. Martin had told him that meeting this woman was purely recon... for now.
He was in a tough situation. With the mask on, he couldn't act as a normal person would, and just go over and introduce himself, but with it off, he would reveal his face, and he knew how particular Martin was about revealing one's identity too soon - "especially in a world like this" - he was never fully sure what he meant.
Worst of all, Kyler could easily tell that he was by far the youngest of the trio, yes, his height and the altering of his voice made him seem older than he was, but if he were to let them know who he was, they would treat him as a child, most likely. Adults tended to do that to teenagers whom they had just met.
He decided to slowly approach, and do so quietly, but not silently.

"I think this is the part where we introduce ourselves," Doc offered with a small grin and then went off into a song.
Please allow me to introduce myself Im a man of wealth and taste Ive been around for a long, long year Stole many a mans soul and faith And I was round when Jesus Christ Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that Pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game.
He ended there, wondering if his two companions would recognise the Rolling Stones classic. Damn Raven and his tastes in music.
