She was good... convincing, almost too much so. Kyler worried slightly for Jessy, she was in the middle of a group of vampires, and at any point, as far as he knew, that acting could turn real.
Why did he care though? He had only met the girl earlier today... if she was going to be the sacrificial lamb so he could escape, all the better, right? Then why did the worry stay with him?
Kyler shook his head and concentrated on the sound of the crying baby, definately coming from one of the back rooms. With the vampires so distracted, Kyler knew he could easily make it to the back undetected... getting down would be the problem. His greys, along with his equipment, would make things easier... but this work uniform really held him back. He tip-toed his way to the back of the warehouse and surely enough, there they were, captive children in the room below him. The children were remaining quiet enough, but the baby was less aware of the potential danger it was in.
Ok... he had located them, but Kyler saw no clear way of getting down to them, and saw even less chance of getting them out undetected. If someone didn't remove those vampires, there wasn't much of a chance of doing anything other than just staring at them.
Kyler turned, and noticing the vampires looking away from his direction, at Rogue, he stood straight, making himself clearly visible to her, but watching the vampires for any sign of movement. He pointed downwards, and attempted a motion at her with his hands, pointing at the entrance she had used to get in... hoping she'd understand. It was a long shot, but he didn't exactly know sign language. He took a mental note of that.

That was the only thing she needed. The 'kid' on the roof pointed down at the kids and she hoped she interpreted it right so dropping the facade she pushed Jessy behind her and pulled her sword out in a fluid motion to strike at the leader but pushing Jessy out of harms way had given him the reaction time to not be killed by the swing but a gash blossomed from his chest. Her only response was a grin.
"Now, it's time to clean house," she said teeth bared at the younger vampires. With out another word she swung at one of the vampires who had moved to the side and decapitated him without a lot of effort. Now it was time for the fun part.

That was unexpected. Kyler had to work quickly.
This was going to hurt, but he had no other way to get down any quickly. Jumping down to the side wall, he caught it for a moment and leapt the other way. It slowed his momentum greatly as he fell, but he still landed pretty hard.
Rolling over and getting up to his knees, he looked over to the kids and put his finger to his lips and let out a "shhhhhhh" sound to them. Didn't work, one kid screamed for a moment, before Kyler could get over and put his hand over the little girl's mouth. With his back aching, he sat the kids down and headed over to the door separating this room from the main area of the warehouse. Luckily, the vampires had boarded up the windows, most likely in order to stop the kids from peeking out, or anyone peeking in... but in this case, it meant that the vampires wouldn't be able to see through the window at Kyler moving about in the room.
He crept over to the door and peeked through the keyhole, he needed either for all the vampires to be taken out - hopefully Maya or Doc could join in for that... or for an opening long enough to get the children out... the latter being highly unlikely.

The leader had made a dash for it across the warehouse and with a roar I sprang across to follow him, human feet leaving the floor and then padded paws hitting it again moments later. I had assumed, somewhat logically, that he would be heading towards the children, but at the last moment he truned sharply around on of the shipping crates.
And there it was. Some kind of giant shrine, green fire licking around statue at the centre, but not burning it at all. It was so unnatural it chilled me tthe bone for a second, before the leader turnd and, realising that he had been followed, launched himself against me. Panthers may not be made of wood, or silver, or holy water, but hell, they can pack a punch, and this vamp had already been injured by Rogue. I did my best savaging, but I thought it might just be best to keep the guy alive, or rather, not-dust-still-dead, in case the ritual needed him to stop it.
I skiddd around the corned again, back in my human form, and waved to Rogue. "We've got a problem."

So what happened to not going for the fight?! I thought in frustration. But hey, I prefered this way anyway. I launched myself out from my hiding place, taking off one vamps head with an upward sweep of my sword in the same leap. I heard Jessy's yell, and began slicing my way towards her. It was definitely concerning that the vamps were more interested in stopping me getting round the other side of those crate than they were in going after the kids.

Kyler knelt and watched through the keyhole, very aware as to how utterly useless he was at the moment. He was capable of fighting, sure, but nowhere near to the same extent as anyone out there. Rogue had the same strength and capability, and more, than the other vampires there... Jessy could transform into, Kyler assumed, any animal she willed and Maya was a slayer, which Kyler wasn't exactly all too knowledgable about... but it must have meant something!
There was no way he was opening the door yet. He turned around and faced the children - great... he gets to babysit... and thought about a way to keep them calm, despite the noise occurring just outside the room.

Since they had caught the vampires off guard, hardly any of them had any sort of weapons on them. Which made them pretty quick prey but when Jessy had rounded the corner they seemed to become more aggressive. Interesting and very concerning... She decapitated another, dodging a swing from another vampire but used her sword to chop through his legs before bringing the sword down upon him.
A couple vampires had run off, guess they weren't 'true blievers' but that was just a couple less vampires to fight immediately. The last couple went down fairly easy. A few bumps but nothing worse. Part of her was concerned about them going down so easy but they weren't exactly fighting fit vampires.
She walked over to where Jessy was and approached. "Great... Ritual..." she said looking up at the statue in the center. "I'm no good with stopping rituals. Give me something to fight, sure but rituals..." She saw the leader vampire still alive. "But that doesn't mean we can't get that information."

I joined Jessy and Rogue around the corner, Rogues words filling me with dread... if we needed magic, I would probably be able to help... but did I want to? Did I want to reveal that part of myself to these guys? Did I want to expose myself to whatever the mojo was here?? I decided to keep my mouth shut and find out what we were dealing with.

She grabbed the mauled vampire who just moments ago was standing strong and pinned him to the wall with one hand. "Now, why don't you tell me how to stop this, and if you are a good boy I'll kill you quick," she grinned at him, grabbing a finger and snapping it for emphasis. The vampire was about to scream and of course that was when she remembered there were kids in the wear house and used her hand which was holding him up to silence the scream.
After a moment she let her hand go away from his mouth and kept a single hand pushing him against the wall.
"Now..." she said, ignoring his labored breathing. It was a reflex, the body doing what it remembers even when it wasn't needed. "How do we stop this ritual?"

((I'm gonna go ahead with the idea I came up with... If anyone wants me to alter it, let me know and I will...))
Kyler found this to be the right time to lead the children out. The fighting had stopped, and he could only hear Rogue's voice, interrogating a vampire, one she must have assumed had know-how when it came to whatever ritual they were completing.
Making the same "shhhh" sound, he looked the children in the eye, one by one, "keep your eyes on me, and we'll go outside and you can go back to your mummies and daddies again." It made him sick to have to speak to these children and comfort them... Kyler really wasn't a kid person. Pointing to the oldest of the children, he said, "take the baby, and follow me."
To his suprise, they did, and he opened the door and lead the children out. They kept their eyes on him, and he kept his eyes on them, mostly walking backwards. These children would have been traumatised enough, there was no need to do so further, showing them a green, flaming shrine and a half-dead vampire pinned to a wall would not be beneficial to their mental states.
-As he passed the shrine, it shone a brighter green colour and the flames leapt up. The vampire leader smiled through his pain and spoke: "like this." The flames joined each other and a green, charged beam fired out. Kyler had but a second to look at it before it blasted him in the chest, sending him flying across the room and landing by a pile of crates, unconcious.-
((the -text- bit is the bit I'll change if people want me to... you guys can decide how the children react and what the shrine does afterwards. XD ))

"Shit," I breathed. one second Kyler had been there, leading the children across the warehouse delicately. Then I had turned away and the next thing I knew a green flash had brought me spinning back on my heel and Kyler was half way acoss the room. Sprinting across, I swirled the youngest of the children in my arms and gathered the others around me as qickly as possible. The ones that hadn't been crying before looked like they were about to, and I was terrified that would end up triggering something with the ritual. And besides, no one wants to see children cry.
"Come on then, follow the leader." I nodded to the eldest of them all, a girl who I suspected was less a child and more 'a virgin' in the encyclopedia of ritual ingredients. "She's the leader." Those that followed her did, and I carried the two who seemed most shocked, moving towards the entrance of the warehouse, sending worried glances back to Kyler at close to every step.

"Shit." I commented. "That cant be good." I walked over to the unconcious boy and checked his vitals, "He's alive." I called back to the others. There also didn't appear to be any sort of burn or physical damage from the blast... which was also probably a bad thing. It suggested that whatever it did was something inside rather than outside. Either way, he was stable for the moment, and we needed to find out what that thing was. I hurried back to the others, and the vampire. "You want to tell us exactly what just happened to him. Now." I growled at the vampire, adding my wooden knife at his throat to the current list of things threatening to kill him.

Remaining unconcious for the moment, images flashed through Kyler's mind, too quick to note, but slow enough to differentiate. As this occurred, his pulse quickened, as did his breathing, but not noticably so.
The vampire smiled, as if whatever had happened was perhaps his intention... that or he had finally realised that there was pretty much no way out of this and he was going to die regardless. "You'll find out soon enough." He laughed, his eyes more on Kyler than on the girls threatening to maim or kill him.
((Hope people didn't mind me taking control of the vampire just then... if anyone wants me to alter it, again, I will...))

"Or maybe not," came Doc's voice as his small dagger pierded through the shoulder. "Nice try. Oh, and Jessy? the name was Azmorloth," he grinned darkly at the vampire. "Azmorloth, the corruptor. Azmorloth the Despoiler. Devourer of Valour, Master of Corruption, blah, blah, blah. He whose flames can strip a noble heart," his grin became feral as Talent pumped through his body. "Boy oh boy, did YOU pick the wrong crowd to target," he turned to Rogue. "The ritual was two fold. One: sacrifce sould of innocence, purity, strength and wisdom. I bet the other two were good at sports and brainy. Innocence of a babe, pure as a virgin, amIright? Course I am. Let's see. What am i missing...? Oh yes. Part two: sacrifice of the protector, the warrior and the trickster. A Slayer, a Talent trained fighter and a shifter. But Maya isn't exactly a 'good guy', so to speak. And you didn't see me and Rogue coming. Plus, your other sacrifices just walked out. So you should start having difficulties right about..." Doc laughed out loud as the flame lowered. "Now. I owe him some take out. Right on the money, as usual. See Rogue? Knowledge in battle CAN be useful."

Rogue scoffed as she let go of the mauled vampire. "A sword through the gut can be useful as well," she muttered darkly pushing her way past Doc. It's not like all that wouldn't have happened without him here. Like he had any right to be so smug.
