I slipped into the shadows and changed back into my normal self, emerging seconds later to watch Rogue disappear up and into the building. I was slightly out of breath with all the runnig and changing, but adrenaline had begun to pump through my veins the moment I saw the fire lighting up the windows. I could even understand Rogue's eagerness to get inside as fast as possible. It seemed a little bit reckless, charging in alone when the whole point was that I had brought back up, not a kamikaze crew, especially when the occupants of the place seemed so careless and confident. Then again, she was already dead, obviously, and a former slayer - maybe that changed the dynamic and fear ‘normal’ people felt when walking into obscene danger.
My attention was distracted by the companions that were on the scene. I’d pretty much ignored them, focussed on the getting there and the vampires-with-babies problem that had caused it all, but now I was human again the other human-shaped beings were painfully obvious. “Maya, isn’t it? I’d like to put myself on the “don’t slay” list right now, if you wouldn’t mind. And...," I turned back to look at where Rogue had disappeared, but a new figure perching on the side of it grabbed my eyeline. "Hell, is that the coffee shop woman?” This was hardly a time for introductions though, so I turned back to Doc and Maya. “Seeing as you two fogies have seniority, do you have a plan, or is this a charge in surprise attack thing? You may have guessed, but I’m better at stealth.”

"I would think that scoping out the place first would be better, before actually going in to attack." Kyler headed up the rear, emerging from the night just a moment ago. The same surge of magic he had felt not too long ago when approaching the apartment building surged again... and it came from Jessy... how could she possibly be a dog? It didn't matter right now. He looked at Doc, "but it seems that your girlfriend there has gone in ahead of time, and I doubt there's really any way to contact her without alerting the rest of the vampires inside the building as well."
Look at him, talking about hunting vampires as if he knew anything at all about it. He couldn't believe the words that were coming out of his own mouth, but he was sure that he knew, to a point, what he was talking about, he had snuck into places, and back out again, completely undetected before, and assuming none of the group inside were Talented, he could do so again.
He took a little longer than the rest of them to get to this location, partially because he simply didn't have a means to keep up, and partially because he was still observing, seeing what was going on.

Rogue wasn't in the office long, there was a clear view of the door and... an obscured view of everything else. Go figure.
The concrete not making a sound (at least not one audible from the occupants inside) as she landed.
"The windows in there are fairly grungy and I could only get a good look at the door... which is clear," she said in a low voice as she walked back towards them. "So I'm thinking trap."

Doc nodded, taking everything in as Raven had taught him. Kyler was right, they should be more careful. As was Rogue. Trap was all over this. He just didn't see a way around going in and saving the hostages. They needed more info. Damn.
"Jessy, can you think of anything else about these guys. Something they did or said during the attack, anything at all?" After a moment's thought he turned to Kyler. "See if you can find a way in they wouldn't think off. You're probably our major stealth player since I need to pick Jessy's brain, and we need a way in," finally, he turned to Maya and Rogue. "And can you guys think of some angle I might have missed?"

Kyler was busy putting together the connection... babies and a lure? Were the babies the real prize, or were they going for something else? Slayers perhaps? A trap to lure out any slayers and to dispatch of any that might be around... if it was the latter, why would they attack a cafe? Wouldn't it be a better idea to attack a club? Somewhere where Slayers might wait for some vampires to actually strike?
It was then that he realised that Doc had asked him to do something. Wait... why was Doc suddenly the ringleader here?
Kyler shook his head - it didn't matter. He felt a small bit of excitement at the fact that he was actually useful for once... pitiful, but he wouldn't let anyone else know that.
Giving a simple nod, he headed around the side of the building, ducking into the shadows cast by the walls, and near-disappearing, the fact that his maroon uniform was his dress tonight rather than his usual greys the only thing giving him away at first. He knew he would have to be more careful than usual, and it only really mattered if hostiles saw him, not these... allies? Probably too early for that. Searching for a means to make his way up the wall quietly - most importantly, he found a grate that he figured might lead into the air ducts. He had hopefully found his way in.

"They took a baby, Doc, I was kind of focussed on that. And the others - a girl a bit younger than me, fifteen, sixteenish. Probably the last virgin left in this city. A couple of others I didn't see-" It was hopeless, that fight had taken too much of my attention for me to effectively recall the entire situation. But I sighed and thought back, frowning. "They weren't fledges, I can tell you that. A good twenty or thirty years dead, maybe?"
Something flashed before me, something one of them had said as he knocked me to the floor. "They were all male - I don't know it that's important. And one of them said something - to the glory of, to the glorification of, something like that. And then a name - it was Asothlial, or Athothival, or something like that." I cursed, annoyed I couldn't remember the name when it could be so crucial.

Doc nodded, thinking. Not enough info, not enough data...
And then it hit him. For them to figure out. But maybe him.
"Maya, Rogue, can you two stay here and keep watch?" he asked. "I know we may not have time for this, but we need more info, and Jessy may have just enough to get what we need," a small tight smile appeared on his face, looking at the blonde shifter. "I think it's time to go and see Mr Wizard."

"What, to get yourself a brain? Or just some courage?" I asked, hands on hips. I glanced back at the building that was just begging to be stormed, where I knew, where I could hear a baby crying. Ok, so it was still alive inside, but how long for, I couldn't know, and the worry was getting under my skin. "We don't have time for this!" But I could tell that Doc had got an idea in his head, and given their apparent rarity, I doubted it would be shifted easily. Sighing, I turned back to him. "Ok then. Who's the Wizard? And where is he?"

"Keep watch?" she asked ridiculously. She was fairly sure they did not have time for this but the cry from inside told them they had maybe a few moments. "If you plan on doing something do it now."

"He calls him self Mal," Doc said, grinning at her joke. Just a bit. "And the brains bit is close. Ever heard of a Ter'n demon? They're a race with a connection to the planet. 'Earth Spirit' would be closer a description. And Mal has that aspect. Only his connection gives him ultimate knowledge. Everything on the planet. IF you have the right words for him to look up. And I think you might just have enough to try."

"A boy who knows everything? I think that's a contradiction in terms, but whatever." I'd never heard of therace, but then back in Okie all we'd ever got rolling through town were a couple of vamps and the odd vengeance demon - nothing complicated. And sure, I'd read up on what demons I could in any occult books I could find, but when there are about as many types of demon as there are animals, it's kind of impossible to know them all. Unless, apparently, you have a connection to the earth. Was I incredibly jealous? Yes. But then he probably couldn't turn into an animal at will. "If he can help with this then I'm in. So where are we going and shouldn't we already have started going there?"

All this happened in just moments. I found it interesting how comfortable Doc was with taking charge, and how the others looked to him for what to do, but at the same time I agreed with Jessy (who clearly had been a dog moments ago... we would need to talk later) that the baby and other kidnapped people were running out of time. I finally spoke, "Jessy, dont worry about it, I'm generally the ask questions first type... unless someone is attacking me or someone else. As for what we should do... I agree trap... and from what you have said this sounds like it's probably a ritual offering deal rather than dinner... but that makes the whole trap thing odd... unless of course the offering required isnt virgins or babies, but..." I paused, hating this word, "Heroes."

Moving a crate across to the wall, Kyler climbed up onto it, then made his way up the side of the building using fixings and sections of drainage pipe until he had reached the grate. Luckily for him, hiding a pocket knife in a cafe uniform was easier than hiding twin daggers, and so he had. Pulling it out, he undid the screws on the grate and pulled it open. It took him a little longer than usual as his concentration on being completely silent whilst doing so occupied the majority of his mind.
Kyler slowly and carefully pulled himself into the small opening that lead into an air duct and closed the grate behind him, though not securing it as it was before - it was essential that he gave himself a quick and easy escape if the need arose.
It was immediately obvious that this air duct hadn't been cleaned out, or maintained in years. A section directly ahead of him was simply missing, and so he only had a very limited amount of space in which to climb through. This would definately make this "reconnaissance mission" significantly more difficult.

"Well, I'd hardly call myself a 'hero'," Doc remarked. "But we definitely need to hurry. Maya, Rogue, wait for Kyler. Jessy? Time to meet the Wizard. "Unless," he added, realizing he'd pretty much taken over. Not his intention. He'd really been alone too long. "anyone else has a plan?"

"Anyone who can land a one story fall in the office, I throw Jessy in front as a territorial 'offering', stake the nearest vampire, whatever battle goes on... well... goes and there. We've rescued the babies and whoever else was grabbed," Rogue retorted looking at Doc. Personally there was a very simple answer to this. "Then if there's a trap, there's back up to go with it. I doubt they'd expect a vampire."
