(LA Night)Battle Royale!

[Joshua]

I duck under a wild swing by the demon and while I'm down there, accelerating myself so that to everyone else I'm blurring and to me they're all moving in slow motion, I take the sword I held and neatly disembowel the demon with a few quick strokes.

After that, I flip back, immediately grateful for the benefits of all my training at the Training Center as well as Doc's fight training.

To conserve power, I return myself to normal and watch as the demon's guts pour out faster than they had been moments ago. Unfortunately, a pair of vampires then demand my attention and I bring my sword back up and trigger the extendable blade in the wrist gauntlet that Doc had given me.

Almost naturally, I cast forth the energy that slows the vampire's down to 'normal' human speed, making the fight somewhat fair. Then I slow them down even further and too easily take their heads with my blades. Then I return the dusting vampires back to normal speed and turn my attention to another part of the fight.

The battle was across the entire city, and it had started a little after midnight. And on our 'day off' too!

Something had happened, but we were all still trying to figure that out. I could, of course, just open up a portal to the past so we could find out, but I pointed out, and everyone agreed, that until we took care of the problem in the present, to ensure that it would not still be a problem in the future, trying to fix it in the past would be pretty pointless.

Somehow, everyone not supernaturally inclined in the entire city had disappeared. Just like that. Which left us, the champions of humanity as we liked to think of ourselves, and all of the demons, with the run of the entire city.

I was hanging close to Doc, and I felt several of the others were nearby, but most of the people that had stuck around were scattered just about everywhere after the fighting had started.

Seeing my friend in a little bit of trouble, I cast a Time Bubble in his direction which allowed him to move at Hypertime and still be able to interact with the environment, while I turned to another oncoming horde of vampires.

It was going to be a loooooooooonnnnnggggg night.

[Maya]

Goddess! What the hell is going on!? I thought to myself. The whole damn city has gone mad... cept most of the damned city isnt here. Just the bad guys, and us- the ones who traditionally stop the bad guys. Wonderful. I mean, dont get me wrong, its great that they're not feasting innocents, but with a lack of regular people to dstract them- what a surprise they turn their attention to us. ALL their attention.
Having dispatched a load of vamps that cornered me, i began running as fast as i could in the direction of noises clearly indicating a fight. Reaching out with my mind, i felt that several of the group were in the area, and just over the wall coming up were Josh and Doc... and a hella load of vamps. Using a bench as a step up, i launched myself to the top of the wall, and quickly surveyed the scene. Doc was slicing through vamp after vamp with that wicked cool saber of his, and Josh was using huge amounts of time manipulation to trick his opponents. Most people wouldn't know, but i'd come to recpgnise the feeling... plus the fact that he kept blurring. He was now fighting a trio of vamps, while two more approached from behind. I grinned, and leapt off the wall, a stake appearing in each hand as i landed, knocking both vamps down, and skewering them.
"Goddess, do i have to spend my whole life savin' your ass?" I teased him as he blurred, and took out the trio. I then spun round, and grinned as another bunch of vamps ran our way. Showtime.

[Joshua]

I grinned back at Maya's quip and replied by accelerating myself even faster and then, to her, blurring around her and decapitating or staking every vamp in front of us, all in the time period of one single second. To Maya's time frame that is.

"You were saying?" I said, returning to normal time. Then I saw the demon rising up from the ground behind her, and I think my face said it all. Especially when my head continued to track up as the thing's head cleared over seven feet.

[Maya]

I watched as Joshua looked up at whatever was behind me. I grinned, and one eyebrow flickered up, then i spun round, a sword materialising in my hands as i turned, and slicing right into the demon's side. An almighty roar filled the night, and it flailed out, knocking both me, and Joshua behind me, down. I looked up at it, all seven feet of green/grey leathery skin and slime. I grimaced as the thing writhed in agony, and quickly darted forwards, retrieving my sword and swinging again. AS his head rolled across the ground, i grinned at Josh again, and headed for another group of vamps.

[Nicola Next]

I sat behind a low wall and took a deep breath as I desperatly tried to figure out what the hell was going on. As far as I knew there was no-one left except for demons and some slayers I had seen while I running away from a big fat goo demon.

Trying not to be seen I peered out over the wall. Several vamps were bent over something glowing on the floor and I tried to look closer when I heard a familiar voice somewhere to my left

'You were saying?'

I took one more look at the glowing thing and then took off as fast as I could. Tripping over a stone I flew through the air and skid along the ground on my knees, ending up centimetres away from Maya's foot

'Need a hand?'

I got up and Maya smiled at me

'Nice entrance. Duck'

I ducked just as her foot flew over my head and kicked a vamp behind me. Close one.

'Thanks'

[Maya]

I grabbed Nicki's hand, helping her up, and we stood back to back.
"Any clue what's happening?" I asked her.

[Nicola Next]

'Apart from the fact the world's gone insane? No I'm completely clueless, you?'

[Maya]

"Far as i can tell..." I staked another vamp, "All civilians have done a vanishing trick..." I ducked a blow, and swiped a demons feet from under him, "...giving all the demons their chance..." i skewered said demon, "to concentrate their efforts... oh crap! Duck!" We both did as a demon dove at me, and flew straight over both our heads to the other side where Nicki dealt with him, "On killing us." I finished.

[Nicola Next]

I frowned as I staked another vamp

'It wouldn't have anything to do with glowing cubes would it?'

Grabbing a dagger out of my back pocket I flew it a few yards in front of me and impaled a particularly nasty looking demon right through the forehead before pulling my weapon back

[Maya]

"Glowing cubes?" I exclaimed, "No idea. Hang on a sec." I grabbed the next vamp that ran at me, and rammed a stake into his chest, an inch or two away from his heart. "Hi there." I said pleasantly, "WHat the hell is going on?"
"You will fall. All of you will fall, and darkness will reign."
"Uh-huh. Useful." I said. Several more demons were approaching, to i repositioned his stake and got ready for them.

[Nicola Next]

'Yeah glowing cubes' I grabbed a demon and using my magic, welded him firmly to the ground 'Okay spill'

'We're too strong, you shall fail'

'Fail what?'

I sighed frustrated and waved my hands, watching him shatter into millions of pieces. I warily looked at the new batch of demons and held out my hands

'Okay kids, now who's ready for the magic show?'

I grinned. I love being a witch.

[Maya]

"So do i, Nick." I said, hearing her thought. "Wanna do a duet?" I grinned wickedly.

[Nicola Next]

I grinned and looked at the suckers lining up

'Sure thing! Ooh you guys are gonna be toast' I taunted them and stuck out my tongue

[Maya]

"Clean-ish dusty version, or blood an' guts gross version?" I asked.

[Nicola Next]

'Hmm' I pondered and then smiled 'Let's get gross girl!'
