A soul sword. Not to be predictable, but bloody hell. It was beautiful. perfectly crafted, it fit my hands as if it was meant to be there all along. "Wow." I gasped. "This is..." I shook my head, "Wow." Joshua grinned, "Had a feeling you might say that." "How do i... i mean... how does it work?"
((there ya go.))

<We need to do this together> I communicated with Avalon. She nodded imperceptably.
I reached out and put my right hand around the hand that Mai had around her new weapon. Avalon then reached over and put her right hand around both of ours.
"Hold on tight," I told her with a wild grin, and then together Avalon and I put our other hands on the hilt.
Instantly the room was drowned in a blinding white light and only a moment later, the link between Maya and her weapon was formed and we all heard a too-familiar snap-hiss, followed by an even more familiar humm of energy. Four feet long from the hilt, at maximum power, a pure white blade of soul energy emerged from the Soul Sword.
"Wow," Maya whispered in awe. Then, Avalon and I removed our hands and the blinding light disappeared . . . but the burning white energy blade remained where it was as Mai kept the weapon in her hands, staring up at it.
"Holy Jedi Knight batman," I quipped.

For a moment i just starred, but then a slightly scary smile came to my lips as i tried the sword. It was unbelievably light, and made that wonderful noise from the Star Wars movies. "I'm a friggin jedi." i giggled. Remembering what Doc could do with his, i concentrated on making the sword into a small, curved blade, and it transformed before our eyes, but the blade stayed pure energy. "Wicked." I said.

Charlotte and I walked in just in time to see Maya holding her Sword, a white blade now extending fromthe hilt.
"Damn," I muttered. Charlotte looked at it, then at hers.
"How come hers is active?" I asked.
"Soul Swords and Soul Sabre have differences," I explained. "I'm not sure how many just yet, but this is obviously one of them," I watched her faceas she worked through what was happening. That was...
No, don't even think it. It's too dangerours. Just let her live without your Curse hanging over her.
((Oh, Peter Parker moment.))

"Hey, what's up Doc?" Joshua called out in a poor Brooklyn accent as our attention turned towards the newest arrivals.
Doc smirked and nodded towards Maya, who only now was noticing him and Charlotte. "I see that you've given Maya her Soul Sword."
"Yes, the other reason I was in such a hurry," I spoke.
"The really cool thing about Soul Swords, and the more dangerous aspect," Joshua explained, "is that once they're activated, they're at full power all the time. Also, really wierd side effect I noticed is that it tends to be whoever created the Soul Sword, has to contribute the soul energy required to activate it. Prime example would be me and Avalon. And since the both of us made Mai's Sword . . . well, we just activated it."
"Do you enjoy your gift Maya?" I asked.
"Oh yes," she whispered, not taking her eyes off the glowing white blade. Then her eyes suddenly shifted to Joshua and she smirked, "Both of them."
I arched an eyebrow in what Joshua had once called 'Vulcan' fashion, but did not comment aloud.

((I may be being incredibly thick but not entirely sure what I'm supposed to be thinking Doc so this is entirely deleteable)) "He doesn't seem so bad to me." I muttered, glad for that but annoyed at having been dragged away from finding out how to use my present. Not to mention the fact that suddenly Maya had one too, now don't get me wrong I didn't begrudge it her, she needed some fun and what better than a new weapon? But it had been nice to have something special for a change, I had almost felt special just for an instant but then as usual someone else had something better, just like my fighting was second to slayer power, my knowledge second to the watchers, I was getting real sick of being second.

Why is my telepathy going haywire? I thought. recently i had had major trouble choosing not to hear peoples thoughts- now and then, with even just a little emotional burst, i'd hear them loud and clear whether i wanted to or not. I took my eyes from the sword, looking to Charlotte with hurt in my eyes. "You're not." I said. "Not... what?" She asked. "Not second." I replied. "You think you're second to me? Thats bull, Charlie! You may not realise it, but i'm probably one of the most screwed up people on this planet... whereas you are an incredible friend, who stuck with me when you barely knew me- you kept me sane charlie!"

Charlotte thought she was...
"What is it with people around here and their self confidence levels?" I said. I looked at Charlotte. "You're second in nothing, Charlie girl," I said gently. "Everyone has something that makes them special. You have an unbelievable heart, you proved that looking after Maya. No one could take your place, you're as much an integral part of this group as Maya or Avalon. And yes, Pendragon, you are a part of this group, whether any of the others realize it not. You're family."

I was split down the middle. I wanted to comfort Charlotte, assure her this, 'second fiddle' thing was all in her head, but the emotions that went with it...
I can't do this again, I though. I won't put her in that sort of danger.

Emotion is a very funny thing. One moment they are all tame and you can control them, or at least their reactions to situations, very easily. And the very next, they are surging all out of control, beyond your control, so that I am now very close to losing control as everyone stares at me and I can feel tears forming in my eyes from the nearly overwhelming love and friendship these people have offered me.
"Maya," Joshua suddenly snapped, "Hold her down before she bolts, would you?"
Damn psychic emotional link!
"I, I, I am fine," I stutter in saying, my voice wavering and I try very hard not to run while also trying not to cry. First thing to do is change the subject!
"But we need to discuss what is going to be done about you Joshua," I continued, my voice still wavering, but no longer on the verge of bursting into happy tears. "Atrophied muscles is nothing to joke over, and if not taken care of quickly, can become quite serious."

That, I didn't expect.
Avalon was usually so in control. For her to lose control like that.
I did it on instinct, figuring that since Avalon possessed teh powers Joshua did before he died ((I think she explained that at one point)) she'd have Maya telepathy.
[You sure you're alright, Pendragon], I thought, shielding all but her from the thought.
((If this is wrong, let me know. This is wholly delteable.))

I screwed up my eyes, and sat on the edge of the bed. "Mai?" Josh asked worriedly. "I'm fine." I replied, shaking my head, "Just... telepathy going odd..." I glanced at him, and spoke mentally he glanced at the sword, but i shook my head slightly, [no, not the sword...] his eyes widened, and i knew he understood. Now i looked at Doc, the person whose thoughts had invaded my mind- odd how it now seemed like that, though usual it would have been considered as me invading his mind. [Doc] I told him [comfort her.] He looked at me, and his look said it all. [No] i told him, [You wont hurt her. I know you, Doc, and I know you wont hurt her- please, just do what... just comfort her.] i trailed off. ((ahh, that was meant to be after Docs last post, before avalons...))

((So that's aimed for Charlotte, gotcha.))
[You don't understand] I sent, distracted form Avalon for the moment. [What's happening...why her Sabre came out the way it did...I can't...]
[Lover her?] Maya asked.
[Not like that. Everyone i care for like that...don't make me hurt her, Mai.]

<You OK girl?> I asked Avalon as she stood there, trying to keep from bursting out crying and giving us all a touchy-feely moment where she shouted out thanks for making her part of our family, which she had been adopted into from the start actually.
<I do NOT burst out crying and 'shout out'!> she screamed in my head, while real world giving me a death-glare.
<Avalon, are you OK?> I asked, more empathetic.
<I . . . yes, I am. I just . . . need some time to absorb it all. And despite my attempts at distracting everyone else, we do need to get you some help. The training program you asked me for earlier will take at least two weeks, and that is if you can keep up and perform accordingly. And doing this in the city is completely out of the question.>
<Tsunade would be proud> I wryly told her. <But for the moment, I think you can perform a small miracle to keep things from getting worse for me. We can tell them any plans we'll have tomorrow morning. Now. If you still feel the need to have a good cry, know that we're all here for you, and we'll even cry with you if you need us to.>
Avalon's glare when from death all the way up to Genocide as she shouted in my mind, incidentally causing Maya to wince, <I. Do. Not. CRY!!>
