"And a vampire is?" she replied. "Many people would just kill me on the spot. Once upon a time I would have killed anyone who even looked at me wrong."

"Should I ask what changed?" he ventured, rolling to look at her.

"I was both cursed and blessed," she muttered. Part of her hated Alexander for what he did but part of her thanked him for it. "I was captured by a group of vampire hunters but instead of just killing me, they kept me alive. They enjoyed the hunt less and less and all they wanted was payment for the pains vampires have done to them. Not that I can blame them. Vampires are terrible creatures. Boy did I not enjoy being tied up and starved. Torture isn't high on my list of fun things either. But I liked pain. Sorta. If that makes any sense. Pain was nothing. An angel came to my aid. Odd that an angel would help a vampire. But he let me bite his arm and his blood did something to me. It gave me back my consciousness. When a vampire is made their soul dies. Instead of the demon going away and myself returning we were stuck with each other. Still are. We're both in here."
She blinked looking at the ceiling. "We killed them all. Every last man there."

Doc was silent for a minute before finally speaking.
"I was ten," he said, looking at her. "Ten years old when my life went to hell. We weren't doing anything, we were just... gathered around the telly. My sister was... geez, 5 or so when they took her. These men in black with guns they just stormed in, took my sister and killed my parents. I guess I got lucky, they hit my shoulder," he snorted. "Yeah, lucky. Buried under the bodies of my parents while those bastards took my little sister with them. Raven found me there, took me in. Trained me. But I never forgot. How could you forget something like that? It's what drives me. Finding her," he gave a wry smile. "Guess that's why I'm so screwed up."

"You know what, the 'screwed' up part about the whole thing, is I don't' feel guilty about killing them. I'm glad I did," She turned to look at him. "You shouldn't feel guilty about it. You're doing everything you can to find her."

"Is it enough?" He asked levally. "They were Watchers. It was a Council raid for a Potential, I HEARD them before they left. How do I know she's not already dead?"

"She could be dead," Rogue replied. "The first's minions killed many potential slayers. But I bet you need to know what happened to her, good or bad."

"... Damn older people and their wealth of knowledge," he muttered, laying on his back. "You're right."

"I figured as much," she shrugged, laying back on her back. "I would want to know." She could relate to the wanting to know. She just never bothered looking for those she had left behind from her human life. They were all dead anyways. Or something else could have happened but she figured she would have met them along the way by now.
