"He freaked when you noticed him," Doc stated. "And then rabbited faster than a kid being caught with his hand in the bikkie tin. He was interested in the convo, sure. But I think he was more worried about being noticed by you."

The frown deepened, "But why would he be interested in me?" Any supernatural being taking a particular interest in me made uncomfortable... it tended to end up with people close to me getting killed. Good thing I didn't really do 'loved ones' anymore.

Doc shruged. "Could be anything. Physical attraction. Or he could just find you to be an interesting conundrum," he flashed her a reassuring smile. "Much like I do, really. You're a Slayer that doesn't follwo Council edict, you're in with The Watcher... very interesting indeed. Life since I got here has been interesting, come to think of it. I wonder if that means something."

I smiled, I knew just what he meant, "Yeh it's almost too interesting... usually when this many people know who I am within days of me getting to a place its my cue to skip town again..." I paused. This was very very true, but I couldn't find an end to the sentence because I myself didn't understand why this time was any different. I took a long sip of my drink and gave Doc an odd smile, "Yeh that was the end of the sentence." I gave up.

"Know the feeling," he admitted. "Got what I wanted, I should be gone. Take the info to my... usual source, but, well... Things happened. It's interesting, this city," he sipped his drink, sitting back. "More Talented than I've seen gathered in one place, a Slayer, Rogue..." best not give out her story to too many people. "Very interesting indeed."

"Rogue?" I asked. I hadn't heard this name before. All I could come up with was Xmen, and that seemed unlikely even for this town.

"Just... someone I ran into my first day here," he said carefully. "And ended up bunking with when I couldn't find a place to stay."

"Fair enough." I said, accepting that he was clearly wary of giving too much up about this woman.

"So either somethings up in LA," he continued. "Or it's just a gathering place for the lost and the damned. I'm thinking the latter," he added with a smile.

I smiled back, "Seems to me that the way things have been lately everything nasty with no place to go comes to LA, so anyone who hunts the nasty things with no place to go head here too." I shrugged, it seemed logical enough.

"Well, we kind of know where you fit in," Doc said, nodding. "But... what about me? Creepy crawly or hunter? Hm..." he tapped hi chin dramatically, flashing a grin at her.

"Ill vote hunter." I said immediately, smiling, "Even though you try to give of the darker vibe."

"The only thing I pretend, dear Maya," he said with a feral grin as he drained his drink. "Is that I'm normal. I think you and Kyler can relate to that, hm?"

I smiled sadly, swirling the dregs of my drink in the glass. The truth was that I rarely had to make such a pretence. I didn't generally mix with anyone who would notice, or care if they did. It had been a very long time since I gave a damn what anyone 'normal' thought of me.

"Being special sucks," Doc declared, throwing the last of his drink back. "And being special alone makes it easier to pretend your not. So let's give a rousing cheer for anti social behaviour!"
