"England," he said. "They were getting her situated in a Council training house. They were attacked on route," he looked down at the ground. "Not gonna be easy getting the info though. I'm... known enough that even if there's new management, they'll want to talk to me about... certain actions I've taken over the years."

I bit my lip... there was no going back after my next suggestion... plus he might also hate me for my next suggestion... which oddly cheered me up. I guess it allowed me to pretend that I didn't care what this guy thought of me. "I might be able to help with that..." I said cautiously, "You remember I said I had only ever met one watcher? Well he was... 'The' watcher, y'know? Buffy Summers' watcher. He never exactly played by the councils rules, and now he and another slayer are tracking down troubled slayers, helping them to control the power they have been given... stopping them from hurting themselves, or others... it's, uh, how I met them..." I paused, not looking at Doc just yet, "Anyway, point is, they have access to all the information, but they dont exactly answer to anyone... what I'm saying is, if you would let me, I could call them... and they might be able to get ahold of the info you need... or at least someplace to start." Finally, I looked up at Doc's face to see his reaction to my long winded explanation, and the suggestion itself.

In-between the time before the fight with the vampires outside and now, the shifts had changed and there was a new barkeep. "Any of you two want a refill?" He interrupted. He was near-bald and wore glasses, which barely covered the rings under his eyes - a sign that this man might be one who didn't get much sleep. Though he had thick arms, he barely looked threatening, apart from his height... he was rather tall. He stood nearby Maya and Doc, cleaning out a glass he had collected from a guy nearby.

Doc eyed the new barkeep carefully, then returned his attention to Maya thoughtfully.
'The' Watcher. Rupert Giles. Ripper. According to Raven intelligence, this guy had a police record longer than Doc's, carefully swept under the rug because of his family name and connection to the Council of Asswads. And one of the last, if rumours rang true, of the old Council still in a job. Though it appeared he was somewhat on the outs. He had several points in his favour and Maya seemed to trust him.
But he was a Watcher. And Doc had a reason to distrust them.
Still...
"Can he keep quiet?" Doc asked quietly.

I smirked, "Keeping quiet is one of his specialties." I replied, "Pretty much everything he does is under the radar. The slayer he works with, Faith... she officially died when Sunnydale caved in... not existing seemed easier than avoiding the cops 24/7." I wasn't sure that Faith would be hugely happy about me splashing her secrets around... but for some reason I trusted Doc, and besides, trust was definitely one of those give a bit to get a bit kinda things.

The barkeep continued to clean the bar, seemingly disinterested in the conversation that Maya and Doc were having, though he remained nearby, attending to what seemed to be a pretty stubborn stain on the bartop. He didn't say anything else, just continued with his work.

"Hm," Doc said. "Alright. I'm probably going to find Watcher's on my ass, but... I'll trust you," he pulled a slip of paper out of his coat. "This is all the info on her last whereabouts. I've been... keeping it close. Planned on seeing some people I know, but, well... We don't always see eye to eye. If you're friend can find what I need..."

I took the piece of paper with a sympathetic smile, "I'll do what I can." I promised. I finally turned to the barman who had been hanging around too close to us for too long. "Y'know I think you got it." I snapped, referring to the non existent stain he was attacking. It was odd, but I had the feeling that I had seen him before...

The man jumped back, startled. Then, for a moment, an annoyed look appeared, and quickly disappeared. "Sorry," he replied, embarrassed, "it's my first night, wanted to make sure everything was perfect... make a good impression, you know?"

"Hm." I murmured, "Maybe do it at the other end of the bar, yeah?" I said with a significant look. There was definitely something about this guy, because he did not look anywhere near as scared as most people are when they get that look from me.

I think I've been here long enough. The barkeeper thought. "I'm sorry, I won't bother you any more." He replied, heading out to the back of the bar, through the doors, to the staff area. He didn't return.
It wasn't until a few minutes later that the barkeep that was there earlier walked out the same door. He looked slightly disoriented, but headed in regardless and was immediately called over by a patron who ordered a beer. He switched on and was back to work.

"You realize he wasn't actually working here, right?" Doc asked, raising an eyebrow. What was with this town and non-professionals? Raven would have had a field day here.

I shrugged, "I sorta had a hunch." I said non-commitally. "He was trying to listen to our conversation though... and I have the weirdest feeling that I've seen him somewhere before... it's gonna annoy me all night."

"Whoever he is, he's something of an amateur," Doc snorted. "Not so much that he makes obvious stupid mistakes like The Kid, but enough that he makes his points of interest rather obvious," he looked at Maya pointedly as the original barkeep walked out. "Well, would you look at that. He looks a bit dazed."

"Yeh he does." I agreed, my eyes narrowed, was this fake barkeep dangerous or just curious? Then I paused in the middle of my train of thought, what had Doc said about points of interest? I frowned at him, "What do you mean, his points of interest? Our conversation?"
