I vaguely made note of Doc and the blonde kid leaving, and prayed that they were turning in for the night and not planning a rescue mission. But this was all in the back of my mind. Most of me was concentrating on the pair of vampires before me. "Sure baby." One of them said, "I know just the place." "We can have some fun." The second agreed. He was the larger of the two, and must have been a body builder or something in life. I resisted the urge to grin- I did love it when they fell hard. "Cool." I cooed, and turned away. They immediately jumped up, the smaller one, who was wirey and made my skin crawl, draped his arm around my shoulders as we headed for the door. I was really going to enjoy this.
Once outside, they lead me round the corner to an alley. "I know a shortcut." The skinny one said. Of course a few steps into the alley they stopped, and he pushed me against the wall. "On second thought, we could just have our fun right here." He drawled, drawing one finger down my left cheek. I smiled broadly, a different, more savage expression than they had seen 'til now. "You read my mind." I quipped, and slammed my forehead into his. He stumbled backwards, and my foot impacted his stomach, slamming him back into the opposite wall. The two vampires hissed as they gave up the human charade, and then the fun really began.

Kyler waited until the others were gone, and looked over to Martin... who was no longer at the table - most likely slipped away while people were distracted... Kyler hated when he did that.
He moved toward the back of the club and into the men's restrooms, which was, luckily, empty. Pulling out a pocket knife - such a simple device, but most underestimated its usefulness, he stepped on top of a toilet seat and made quick work of the screws in the grate above, clambering in and securing it again... again, in those simple, and seemingly miniscule tasks, Kyler was excellent at, and so he did so in no time at all.
He made his way to a vantage point - having scoped the bar out earlier, as Martin had instructed, and watched the alleyway from his location. He didn't plan on getting involved... he was sure she could handle herself... and if she couldn't, it seemd Doc would try to play the noble hero...

As the first vamp (the skinny one) exploded in a cloud of dust, I became aware that I definitely had an audience, but I ignored Doc completely, he could watch all he liked, but this was my moment, and none of anyone else's business. The big guy was furious now, and he launched himself at me, hands reaching for my throat. I sidestepped, and rammed one foot back into his knee, forcing him down. I could have staked him then, but what would be the fun in that? He was up in no time, and we had a good round of old fashioned punch up until I finally got bored, and suddenly dropped into a crouch, swung one leg round to topple him, and drove my wooden knife into his heart with expert precision, whipping it back out in time to save it as he disintegrated... but not without his final snarl of "Slayer!" I stood up, starring at the stop where he'd vanished, my jaw tight. Now why the hell did he have to go and say that, huh?

Slayer... he had heard of them before... and the way in which the dying creature had said it made it sound like it was something controversial. This added onto the fact that Maya hadn't been outcoming with that fact either, and it intrigued Kyler.
He wasn't going to make any moves yet though... the show wasn't finished, he knew that... Doc was watching nearby, and he was completely certain that he would have something to say about it, and so, he stayed and watched, even thought he figured he might have to endure another horrible one-liner.

"So," Doc said. He could have drawn that conclusion from watching Maya fight. the vampire had pretty much clinched it. "Slayer huh? Well, I haven't had any Watchers come looking for me, so I'm going to presume you don't answer to them. The question, or more to the point questions, is why?"

Pffft. Like it hadn't been obvious. Even if I didn't have the handy demon senses to tip me off about such things, the whole swanning over to vamps and treating herself as bait thing was a massive hint. I was more interested in Doc. Or rather, the amazing self-centredness he was showing. A man Watchers would come looking for? The guy thought of himself pretty highly, clearly. I transformed behind the foliage of the tree before swinging myself down to the ground. "Considering you thought you'd be saving the Slayer from, oh my, a whole two vamps, maybe you shouldn't be presuming too much." I smirked. "Just some friendly advice."

Kyler's eyes went wide... everyone was the same here... they all thought themselves the best. Martin had always told Kyler to consider himself the least of whomever he's with, to never assume being greater than anyone else, Kyler wondered for a moment if Martin actually did that himself, or if he had initially, and now considered himself the best and just regurgitated lessons from his own past.
So Slayers and Watchers were linked... there was so much Kyler didn't know... but it didn't much matter to him, he was learning off Stella and off Martin, though with his inability to tap his Talent, it was obvious why they kept so much from him. He remained where he was, and continued to listen, his interest shifting from Doc - the Talented and Maya - the Slayer, to that young girl who had just joined them - the obviously Something, but not completely sure what, yet.

"One, i had yet to see any proof she WAS a Slayer til now," Doc pointed out to her. "Two, I was only planning on really taking the one of them. If you're so well prepared, it's pretty obvious you could take them. And three, well..." he gave them all a slightly feral smile before turning away. "I've pissed the Council off enough that they've been on and off my tail for the past five or so years. So yes. I did presume they'd be on my tail. Funny that."

"Did I ask for the life story, abridged or otherwise?" I drawled, walking through the dust still swirling in the air with a little skip. I wasn't about to give anything away to these almost complete strangers, especially when one of them might have training to slay before asking why. "I'm not particularly interested in the living right now, so I'll be off to pastures deader. No offence, Slayer, but your brilliant skills kinda make us unchosen ones a little obsolete." I headed of down the street, hoping for a graveyard near by, hopefully not populated by slayers and petty thieves.

Ok so he didn't immediately try to kill me, I guess that was a good sign. I was intrigued by the blonde girl... she certainly wasn't human, but she didn't seem evil either, but that wasn't my main concern right now. I focussed on Doc. "I'm pretty much free lance." I told him, "I didn't know I was even a potential until I became a slayer... and even then I didn't really understand what was happening. As for watchers, I've only ever met one, and he... well... lets just say he isn't your average watcher. Like I told you, the wastchers dont control the slayers anymore... The Slayer is in charge, and even then I dont answer to anybody. I was fighting demons before I was a slayer, and noone paid me any interest then, so why should I fall in line now?"

"Good attitude," Doc said with a nod. "But I'm gonna be a little leery of the Council til I get proved otherwise. Still, you seem cool," he said, turning back to the club. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I left my drink in there."

I watched him go, a little thrown... I had been so sure that he would hate me (and you decided you didn't care) a little part of me added. So... if I didn't care, then why was I so relieved? I shook my head and followed he back inside, joining him back at the bar. "So." I said, as though nothing had happened, "Did you find anything useful in those files?"

The show was over, and Kyler was processing the information and putting it together, while at the same time wondering if he should follow the other girl, or go back into the bar with Maya and Doc. Luckily... he had time. The bar wasn't a hard place to get back into, and Jessy seemed to be calmly making her way down the road, if she maintained such a pace, he would catch her easily.
Thinking about how Maya and Doc had interacted with him in the past, he was doubtful that they'd really care for having him around at the moment, and so went with the latter. Pushing an outside grate open gently, he slipped out and replaced the grate, sliding down a water pipe to the alley and walking around the dust, examining it for a while. He, himself, had never killed a vampire, though had seen Martin do so in the past - where was Martin?
Damn it... the girl would have to wait... Martin was probably expecting him back. Kyler headed to the end of the alley, looking down the road, he saw the girl still walking leasurely and took her in, trying to remember as best he could her features, so as to be able to find and talk to her later - her interaction with Doc and Maya intrigued him, so there was definately more to her than what initially met the eye.
With that, he headed back down the alley, using the wall to move around the dust more appropriately, and heading back to Martin's rendezvous point.

""A little," he aid. "A name, and a last known position, but... Damn idiots," he shook his head. "Who the hell thought one guy and a child were safe when that one girl might have been the Slayer one day?" he heaved a heavy sigh. "Vampire showed up, killed hte watcher. She got away and vainshed into system. So she's alive, safe, but i'll probably never find her."

I was quiet for a moment while that annoying part of me yelled at me to keep myself silent and keep out of it. If I tried to help him with this, then that was it, I was in too deep already... And yet I found myself speaking. "Not necessarily..." I said tentatively, "If you have a location, there'll be child service records... if she was picked up, which is likely, cos a little girl all on her own is pretty conspicuous... then there should be a record of it. Where was she when she escaped the vamp?"
