"What's wrong?" I said. Neural tone, my voice deeper than normal, head down, it was enough to give anyone else the creeps.

But now, i was in control.

"You've come so close," I continued. "Scared?"

"Of you?" she sneered. "You won't risk hurting you're precious sister."

"Perhaps," I said, raising my head, too show pure white eyes. "But then, she's already dying, isn't she? How much longer til you need a new host. Oh, sure, you have a choice here. But how long would they last. A day? Two?" I raised a hand towards her. "Come on. What've you got to loose? Besides weakness."

I watched the siblings closely.

I lifted my head.
It is happening said Kerona.
'Can we help?' I asked her.
No. There is another, one with the balance of being. He is her foe and her ambition.
'Doc?'

'So, what do we do?' I thought back
We watch came the ancient shifter's reply before she took us over the city.

[Maya]

"How sweet." I sneered, "Always the sentimental idiot. Sacrificing yourself to save these fools.
"No." Said a voice suddenly. I frowned, seeing the young blonde, Aila step forward. "Take me instead."
I laughed,
"How utterly adorable." I said, looking her over, "You intend to save your uncle this way? Not gonna work, sweetie- you;re just a kid- he..." I looked past her to Doc, "He's so much more than you, child."
I could feel the tiny dregs of Mayas being fighting with all her might- she was terrified, and i took it as fear for Doc. I took a step towards him, and though i knew they wanted to, the others didnt move. Joshua had a hand on Aila's shoulder, keeping her back. I stepped forwards again, approaching the two huge stones... and froze.
This stank.
It really stank.
They should be fighting more.
I scowled, looking the odd structure over.
"What are you waiting for?" Doc asked calmly, but i sensed urgency. I calmed a little,
"I see... you want me to do this quick so you can save Maya?" I laughed, "darlin', if i switch to another body, her soul will be burnt up in the process. Your efforts are futile... and it's meant to hurt a lot too..." I grinned, "Maybe we should do it quick." I took a couple of swift strides towards Doc, reaching out to him...

((Just to note that removing the spirit with the stone thing WONT burn up her soul!!))

I watched knowing that any moment something would happen, weither it was good or bad I did not know.

Just as she was about to lay a hand on me, the invisible wall around the circle kicked in and her hand stopped inches from mine.

"Oh dear," I said as her face dropped, realzing what had happened. "Torraan, now!"

[Azoth (Kyler)]

"It's not me doing the ritual" Toraan said as Raladus stepped forward from a shadow and placed his hands on two circles, making a beam shoot from the stones onto the floor near Maya. The invisible circle lit up and some sort of symbol lit under Maya's feet and shot up a bright light, completely concealing her... the white stones sucked in dark mist, slowle they became darker until finally they were both black, as black as tar.

The light left and Maya fell to the floor, unconscious.

(((Raladus is a vampire by the way... and not a modern vampire... but an ancient vampire with powers... kinda like Dracula, if you've seen Van Helsing)))

"It is complete" Raladus announced, taking his hands off the circle, he waited a moment until the symbol completely cleared, "It is now safe to enter."

I went to Maya's side along with Doc, Adlia, and Joshua.

"maya!"

"Mom!"

We were at her side in an instant. Joshua lifted her head gently. "Maya?" He whispered.

"just give her a minute," I said. "Having someone...er thing, take over you're body is as tiring as having the thing removed," I hoped no one noticed teh slip. Most of them knew the basic about Laurana. I didn't want to fill in the full story.

I stood up and backed away to let the ones closet to her have some more room.

"So I missed it?" I said, quietly. Kerona scoffed inside me.
Clever, very clever.

[Maya]

*Aila*
"Mom?" I said desperately. "Dad... is she...?"
Joshua was holding her, supporting her upper body as he knelt on the floor. He pressed to fingers to her throat, and i heard him release his breath,
"She's alive." He said, "its weak, but there's a pulse." I felt as if a hand had been gripping my heart, and now it had finally let go.
"She'll be ok?" I asked just to be sure. Josh nodded,
"Of course she will be."
"We gotta get her to a bed." Doc said decisively. I nodded, and looked to the ancient vampire who had done the ritual.
"Thank you." I said.

Ironies abound, I thought, releasing the balance...

...and collapsing on the floor, concious, yet not strong enough to hold my own weight.

"Okay, ow, ow, ow!" I muttered tiredly. "Mental note to self; that has some draw backs. Major pain."

I knelt down by Doc. "Come on. Lean on me."

[Maya]

For the first time since the beginning of the battle, we were able to relax enough to look about, taking in the damage we had sustained... but no one was dead. And we had won. Maya's pulse was getting stronger, and i could feel her essence regaining control of her body.
[Mai?] I asked quietly in her mind- she should hear me even while unconscious.
[Note to self.] Her mental voice murmured [lightening hurts ]
I grinned, chuckling softly.
"She fine." I told the others.
