((ok, I've been sitting on this for a while. It's time I got out just what exactly Aredhel was doing when she was away, and what Aralin is helping her with...))
I walked through the rows of headstones in teh oldest, forgotten cemetery in LA. No body lay here that wasn't at least 100 years old; just old enough to be valued by me. In my hand, I held an old parchment map and a scrying stone, pointing to our position in the city.
"Look, the map says it's here," I said for te umpteenth time. "It's got to be somewhere!"
"Well it's not," Aralin shot back hautilly. "Do you really expect something to valuable to be hidden away in a cemetery?"
I shook my head, not in disagreement, but in an effort to clear it. I had spent the better part of two years searching for this, and it had been safely under my nose th whole time. Tibet had been a while goose chase; fun, but pointless. This was where I had to be, to complete my journey. This was what I had to do.
"The mausoleums," I said decisively. "Gotta be in the mausoleums."
Aralin raised an eyebrow. "You will simply break into a mausoleum?"
"If it gets me what I want, yea," I replied, kicking in a door as I spoke.
Aralin looked disgusted. "Aredhel, you are my sister and I wish to help you but please, have respect for the dead."
"I am the dead," I shot back, already rummaging through bodies and belongings. "Not there." I came out of the mausoleum to see Aralin still standing there, looking angry. "Oh come off it!" I snapped. "Look, I've got a reason for doing this and you know it. So either you help me or just bugger off!"
Aralin glared, but walked into the mausoleum to help look.
