I walked to the Spot, I was in no hurry to get their, so I took my time. It was dark, night in fact, and there didn't seem to be many humans around. Odd.

"Hey 'Chelle." I said, joining her on the way to the Spot.
"Hey Killian." She said, smiling. "You alright?"
"Yeah, you?"
"I'm good."
We were silent for a while after that.

"It's quiet." I said. I was trying to fill the weird silence that had descended among us.
"Yeah, noticed that."
I grinned. "I know, I know...stating the obvious."

"Don't you think it's a bit...strange." Rachelle gave me a weird look. "Y'know...it being so damn quiet and all."
Rachelle frowned. "I guess...you think something's wrong?"
I laughed, but there was no humour in it. "Something's always happenin' in LA."

"Well, I'm sure it's nothing." I said. As soon as the words had left my lips, I knew it was a mistake. I had jinxed us. Damn.
We turned a corner, taking us closer to the Spot. And that was when the noise started.
It started off quiet...a small drumming noise in the distance. But Killian and I both heard it.
"What is that?" I asked.

I froze in my tracks, and Rachelle walked on a bit until she knew I had stopped. I knew exactly what it was.
Death.
Except, I didn't want to tell her that. The drumming noise in the distance got louder, and shadows played on the wall. They were coming right towards us. I just didn't have enough sense to run.

"Killian?" I said softly, looking back at him. "What's wrong?" I looked back down the street, at the noise. It wasn't drumming, it was some sort of army. And they were running. "You know what that is, don't you?"

I looked at Rachelle, she was staring at me with worry. I sighed. "It's the Scourge."
Rachelle's eyes widened. "The Scourge?" She whispered.
"You know of them?"

"How could I not?" I said, terrified. "The Scourge...an army of demons who think half demons, half humans are VERMIN? How could I not know of them!"

"Sorry." I said, but i was only half listening to Rachelle. The army was getting closer, their shouts were getting louder, the pounding of their feet hitting the ground was echoing in the dark, and I realised we had to run. "Come on." I said, grabbing Rachelle's hand and leading her back up the street and away from the Scourge.

I followed Killian as he led me away from the Scourge. We turned the corner we had just turned, and ran down the street. "In here." I said, and I kicked open the door to a house and we ran in. There was no one there and the lights were out.

We both stood by the door. The only sound was the army of pure demons outside, and the sound of both of us breathing.
"What do we do?" Rachelle whispered.
"Wait." I whispered back. "They have to go past us until we can get out."

"But can't they smell us or something? Don't they have a way of detecting humanity?" I protested.
"Sh*t" Killian swore. "I forgot."
"What are we gonna do?" I said, looking back out of the small glass window in the door. The army was coming closer, I could hear it, and, I could almost feel the evil.

The problem with LA is the number of times i wake up in the middle of the night with a stabbing pain through my body and knowledge that serious evil had once again strolled into town. It took about two minutes to fully dress in black trousers, a black tank top and a black hoody, with my trusty boots. I tied my hair right back, tucked a good supply of stakes away, and picked up both my katana and my small crossbow, grabbing a couple of bags of spell ingredients just in case. Fully kitted-out, i headed off on my motorcycle, not needing to send out any telepathic mesages to figure where the bad was. I hid my bike a little way from the immense army i could feel. I peeked round the street corner, and nearly swore outloud. The street was full, from one side to the other, with pure demons with hearts of pure evil. "Oh this'll be fun." I murmured.

"Come on." I said, grabbing Killian's shirt and tugging him through the house. "Let's get out of here." I said, as the noise was deafening. I opened the door, and we both went outside and into the garden. The sound of footsteps went past the back fence and disappeared into the loud noise. I scrambled onto the fence and jumped over, onto the street, Killian behind me.
I walked up behind Maya and peered around the street corner. There was more than I had expected, and I knew we were not going to get out this easily.
"What do you suppose we do about this Maya?" I asked, fingering the only weapon I had- a small dagger.
