(LA Night)Battle Royale!

( I do NOT stutter. In case you didn't notice I just took on about fifty demons in panther form while trying to save Mai and Tucker and get you and the others PLUS I'm new at this. I DO NOT STUTTER!!! Thankyou, have a nice day . )
I rapidly shifted back and grinned. "Cool," I said. My confidence was rapidly growing as I gained experiance. Plus being a dinosaur was soooo empowering. And all Joshua could say was "nice"? I had half a mind to shift into a t-rex again and swallow him whole. However there were more important matters at hand. Mainly demons.

[Joshua]

"Mai?" I crouched down next to the Slayer as I noticed her awakening, "Are you all right? I got here as soon as I could."

"And what are you doing here in the first place?! You're supposed to be helping find all the other people out there!" Mai growled at me.

"I am. You're out here, you're human, and you did need help," I pointed out. After another few seconds of her glare, I broke down, "Oh, all right! I really am out there helping people. In fact at this moment we're probably stopping a number of the more insane demons from setting the city on fire. Don't worry, we stopped them."

"Why are you talking in past tense?" she asked as I helped her to her feet.

"Because *I*, the Joshua in front of you, am from the future. Approxiamately 12 to 15 hours or so. *After* we rescued all the people that we could. Oh, and here," I handed her a white milk-like potion from my pocket, "Drink this."

"What is it?" she asked, eyeing it carefully.

Suddenly another pack of very dangerous looking demons started charging straight for us. "No time to explain, drink it!" I ordered, charging the demons myself and pulling an ordinary sword from the scabbard on my back.

Mai, hestitating, finally just gulped down the milk-like potion in one gulp and then started to run after me. Little did either of us know that she would get there way before I could, or the demons expected her to. In very little work, she completely obliterated the demons. Once that was over, she walked back up to me with a smile on her face.

"Thanks for the time boost," she said, but stopped at the look on my face.

"Mai, I didn't boost you. And secondly . . ." I didn't have time to continue as she began to glow, all over. And very brightly.

"What the...?!"

"That potion, what was it?" she demanded.

I shrugged, not worried at all and answered, "Basically . . . borrowed magic. I knew that you would be bone dry, which is why I came back to this time specifically. And it's not mine, nor is it something from the TC, so don't worry. Actually, it was Ate's idea, and she was the one that provided the formula for it. The only side effects are that you're going to be super charged for the next hour or so, and then it'll wear off and you'll be back at your normal power level, fully charged, but no longer super duper."

At the look she gave me, I replied, "Blame Nicki, those were her words when Ate described the potion."

"And the glowing?"

I shrugged, "The other side effect."

[TPot]

"Sorry guys but I got some more people to go pick up," I said, "Hey Doc, I don't want a head start, I've got 99 already."

[Maya]

I ignored Tpot (as usual) and looked around for Jessy, who was keeping up, and grinning wildly- i guessed being a dinosaur must be a bit of a rush... Now where the hell was Tucker? Ah, why did i even ask? He was running in the wrong direction.
"One second." I said to Josh, rolling my eyes and rushing after Tucker. I dusted the vamp chasing him, and dragged him back the right way... in literally one second.
"Cool." I said.

[Joshua]

"Yeah I thought you might like it. But remember, the super status only lasts for one hour, then you'll just be back to normal. Fully charged, but normal. . . for you. Uh, I'm gonna shut up now," I finished and quickly grabbed Tucker by the scruff of the neck to keep him from running off again.

"We should get these people back to the Training Center as soon as we can," I suggested, lifting the male witch physically off the ground and easily walking down the street.

"I see I'm not the only one that took a super potion," Mai commented.

I pause and half turn around, hesitating a little. "Uh, not exactly. Remember that whole episode with the demon bunny? The astral enjoining spell?"

"Yeah, what about it?" Mai asked while simultaneously talking with me, and killing every vamp and demon that came out of the stone work for over a block around us.

"Remember that besides just you guys, the Slayer Spirit also possessed my astral form?" I asked.

"Yeah..." she drawled, waiting for the punchline, while actually punching several vamps until their heads flew off.

"It doesn't happen for . . . oh, about another two hours, but my past self will undergo some *serious* stress, and in the aftermath . . . I'll develop Slayer powers."

Everything on the street stops moving. More because Mai just cast a massive freezing spell, which normally would have drained her completely had she not been super-sized as it were.

"What?" she deadpanned.

"Hey! I did not, I repeat *NOT* choose or manipulate this to happen. It was DONE *TO* ME. While I'm grateful for the advantage in the Fight, I am not any more happy about this than you probably are. And just in case you were wondering, yes, you already did rag on me after I showed you the first time, in about five or so hours from now, so yes, I know a little of what you're going to be saying."

"How is this possible?" Mai finally asked as we reached the street where the Training Center was located.

I shrugged. "Doc was the one who'll come up with the best explanation so far. He thinks . . . uh, will think, that because I was possessed by the Slayer Spirit, even second hand through an astral form and not my actual body, that was enough to allow me the possibility of Slayer powers, despite not being first of all female, and second of all, of the Slayer bloodline. As for why I didn't immediately have Slayer powers until a few hours from now . . . because it was my ASTRAL form that really had the powers, I needed to be in a situation where my magic, and my body were desperate enough to grasp into that energy that gave me an astral form to begin with."

I shrugged, "Like I said, that's the best guess so far."

"So do we actually deal with this in the next, how long did you say? 12 to 13 hours?" Mai asked.

"15, well, 13 *now*, but actually . . . no. The population is still gone, but the good news is that we rescue and retrieve almost all of the people left in the city by then, and in the process we take out a little more than half of the entire demon population of LA."

"Cool," Mai smirked, casually throwing a chain lightning spell over her shoulder, disintegrating the hoarde of vamps just behind us.

[Jessy Jackson]

"I never was god at physics but my head is spinning." I never was going to get the hang of this time thing. Time Wizards, future Time Wizards, past Time Wizards... AHHHH!
"I think I'll just pretend you had a very complex and divulging vision." Noticing his hurt look I replied, "Hey it's easier for me."

"Fine then. Don't adknowledge my abilities." he said. Great, I thought, he's sulking.

[Maya]

I chuckled, smirking.
"Well... as long as you dont develop any...feminine attributes, i'll be happy." I said, and then shrugged, "An' as you're not a girl, the fact that you have slayer powers wont make that much difference, cos girls kick ass- says so on the t-shirt." I told Josh.

[Jessy Jackson]

I suddenly noticed differences in Joshua and Maya's attitudes towards each other. For a start they weren't fighting, in fact they were smiling at each other.
"Did I miss something? What's going on?"

[Maya]

"What do you mean?" i asked, not meeting her eyes.

[Jessy Jackson]

"Um let me see... The whole you being nice to Joshua and not tearing each other's throats out. You know the where have you taken my friends thing."

I grinned as I got an idea and added,

"And if you don't tell me I can easily ask Nicki..."

Maya's face was wonderful to see. I grinned manicly. "I'm sure she'd tell me everything and I'm pretty sure it would be interesting."

[Joshua]

"Hey, knock it off you two. And for your information Beast Girl, I don't sulk, so get that superiority look off your face."

<And the shirt should actually say, 'Girls have greats asses', because that's a fact of life. Especially yours. Mmm.> I said telepathically to Mai, who I noticed turned a very, very cute shade of pink, despite the glowing.

"And would you STOP SQUIRMING!" I shouted at Tucker, who I was still carrying by the scruff of his neck.

"You could let me down you know, I can walk!" he shouted back at me.

"Uh huh, like that'll happen," I mumble sarcastically.

<I'm not the only one with a cute ass> I heard in my head suddenly.

<If you're talking about Tucker, I swear to all of the gods, even the ditz newbie, that I will rip this mortal to shreads right here, right now> I said with a joking undercurrent.

[Jessy Jackson]

"Ok Nicki it is! Are you sure you don't want to tell me? " I smiled and waited for Nicki. This was gonna be good.

[Nicola Next]

My search was a total bust and I made my way to where I knew some of the others were.

I got four foot within Mai, Joshua and Tucker who was currently being held up and a grinning Jessy, when I heard my name telepathically

'Who wants to talk to the goddess that is moi?' I asked jokily

Maya shot me a warning glance and I frowned

[What?]

Jessy practically beamed at me

'What's going on with Joshua and Maya?'

I snorted

'Half amused and half annoyed that I am the blabbermouth of the group'

[Don't say a word]

'But on this one occasion I'm sure I can make an exception for the lovely shapeshifter I see before me'

'I'm one step away from putting a silence spell on you Nick' Maya gave me a pointed look and I quickly glanced over at Jessy

'WecaughtMaiandJoshmakinoutandthey'relikeaprettysmoochycouple'

Three seconds later and I got hit with a powerful mute spell, rendering me incapable of saying a single syllable. Damn it.

[Maya]

I stuck out my tongue at Nicki while jessy started giggling maniacally. I rolled my eyes, and shook my head- my life is so much more complicated than most people, i thought.
[how long you gonna keep this up?] i heard Nickis thought as she looked at me hopefully.
"Til you learn to keep your mouth shut all on your own." I told her out loud- just to make the point.
[Fine.] i heard. Then, in a highpitched mental voice, i heard it got louder
"OK!" I cried, waving my hand to remove the spell.
"Told ya it gets on everybodys nerves." Nicki said gleefully. I just raised my eyebrow in warning, and she grinned.
I turned my thoughts to Joshua instead, who i found was still thinking about asses. Again i rolled my eyes,
"Boys." I murmured outloud. Then in his head i said,
[yknow, just cos we're kinda-sorta-maybe together, doesnt mean im gonna let you get away with being a misogynist pig.]
[I'm hurt.] he thought back, grinning.
[You will be if your not careful.] i replied.

keeping myself invisible I crept up beside Joshua
"I think we need to talk"
time instantly froze and there was a slight shimmer as I returned to my visible self,
"look I know you don't trust me and you have every right considering who I am, but it is imperitive that you believe me when I tell you that I am not evil. I am not the original Ate and I don't have any of her arrogant or self satiating qualities, that is the very reason that I was chosen to take her place. After she was stripped of her power it could not be retained and it spread across the world bringing disasater and ruin. I was already a demi God at my death and having proved my selflessness through sacrificing myself I was given control of her power and gaining the status of goddess became Ate. My problem is that since these powers go against my very nature I am struggling to gain mastery of them but if I am needed I will try, all you have to do is call. If I can use them correctly I can fool these demons into self destruction I can influence them into performing irrational acts. Now I do have some control, I'm afraid I practiced on you earlier, you know the whole patrolling while drunk thing, but it is still risky. It's your call." ;D
