Me and Scott worked for ages on the artifact, testing out theories, writing down little bits and peices... it was hard work.
Eventually we took a break. I handed Scott a Coke.
"I thought you were like, you know, a warroir or something..." Scott said.
"Everyone has their pleasures, what, I'm not allowed to drink ordinary stuff because I'm not ordinary?" I asked.
"No, no... it's just, I wouldn't have imagined you drinking something like Coke, of all things..." He replied.
I opened mine and started to drink... he did the same, but all too soon, the break was over and we were back to work.

"Something old. Older than time. Older than history. And Scott. He's scared. And something else." I shook my head.

"Older than history? That could be the gem that was stolen... What's the other thing?"

(((Oh shut up! Just because I don't learn anything!)))
"Scott... wait." I told him.
"ha?" He asked.
I switched off the light and waited. It was now pitch black in the room.
I hid, and waited longer... Scott started to shiver.
"Stop!" I whispered.
Scott also hid in a corner, fearing something dangerous.

"Whatever it is it's close. It's nervous, not scared. Oh!" I suddenly realised where I knew that scent. "It's elven. Not del or Lin, but definately elven."

"An elf?" I muttered. "Why would an elf be here? Can you follow it?"

"They've tried to weaken the scent but yeah, I think I can. Let's go." I set off.

(((Elven? What's Elven?)))
I waited, in total silence, they were getting closer.
I used my shadowpowers to detect who they were. They were close enough now for me to do so.
'A man, and a young girl.' I thought.
I took out some wire coil, 'They mean business though, I'll have to do this quickly and quietly.'

I stopped dead. "It's a cover scent," I murmured. Lying a little way ahead of us was an elf. And it was dead. "Crap."

"Okay, now I'm pissed," I growled angrily. To kill was one thing, but an elf? They were practically innocent, withdrawn from what mortals knew. To kill one in cold blood like this... "Track the gem, Jessy. Take us to it, and the murderous bastard that did this."

I didn't say anything. I just walked, following the scent.

(((Um... now why would I kill an elf? I have no reason to... tell me someone else did because Cervantes wouldn't kill an innocent unless he absolutely had to.)))
They were closing in... closer and closer... They were angered now.
I sat, awaiting their arrival.
