I entered the building the normal way, that is to say through the front entrance and through the door. Instead of some other fashion.
The lobby and the entire first floor, even the connected basement, were all quite normal. What was not normal was the elevator, which connected to floors that nothing else could in the building.
A key materialized in my hand, not magic, just some slight-of-hand, and it fit the lock next to the elevator perfectly. The doors opened and I entered.
I pressed for the very next floor up from the main lobby, and waited patiently for the lift to stop, listening to the motors and the noises of an elevator.
It deposited me in an empty hallway, but I quickly found the rooms connected to the hallway. The first was a large, gymnasium size room with a large, wrestling-like platform at the center of it, but equipped with things that I knew made it much more than that.
"So, this is where you used to train?" I asked aloud.
<Yep> I heard in the back of my mind.
"It's nice."

"So exactly what is this place?" I asked, again aloud. Normally I only communicate telepathically with Joshua, but I needed to hear a voice with my ears. Even if it was just my own.
<How about we stop skirting the issue and talk about what's really bothering you?> he asked right back.
How the hell can he know me so well. *I* do not know me that well!
"Answering a question with a question is a sure fire way to annoy some one," I observed.
<So is changing the subject when you don't answer the more important question.> He shot back.
"They hate me."
No emotion, no crying, no vidication, not even a sigh of 'I told you so'. Just the fact.
<OK, even I'll admit I expected a better reception than the one you got. But hate you, they do not. You don't want to see what these people do to someone they hate.>
"How comforting," I sarcastically observed as I sat down on one of the observation benches.

(((Cos this is in the Training Centre only a slight change of scene)))
I was in the library. It had become almost my home in the past few weeks. It seemed so long since Maya had left. Where was she? Was she ok? These thoughts and others filled my head. My princaple (half-demon) gave me ime off school after I'd told him. I was glad of this time as I could spend it in the library. Reading and translating took my mind off things. I walked over to a rather dusty shelf, one I had never looked at before. I was working towards reading every book in the library.
I heaved a heavy, musty book of the shelf and opened it. To my suprise it was in old English though the cover was in latin. It was a book of prophesies. I didn't much like these books. They foretold a lot of death. But since this one was as like as not translated I thought I might just read it.
I put my head on my hands and began to study the writing.

I needed to hit something. In high gravity. I needed to deat dome puching bags to a pulp. I needed...
"Avalon," I said, walking over to her. "How's things?"

I read quietly, muttering to myself. I read the first few pages with a solemnity I only had when reading prophesies. The book was written in ink and quill yet no blots could be found on the parchment. I turned the page and gasped. A prophesy unlike any other was on the page, perfectly written yet riddled with death.
Translated the prophesy I had seen went like this:
He who is the Slayer shall die She who is trained shall rise The two shall be one and live as one But He who was the Slayer has powers not his So she is made of others and him and herself And these others shall feel pain when she feels joy And she cannot control it They will be drained of power And with their power their energy and thus life So more shall die for she who is trained.
I frowned. This should mean something to me but then it didn't. I shook my head, buried the thought and returned the book to the shelf where it wasn't touched until much later.
(((I warned you)))

(((Hm, I never thought of concocting a prophecy. Could be cool. Let's try it out. Btw, Jess, I am sticking to making sure that Avalon is not all-powerful, so I'm going to open this prophecy of yours to interpretation because Rogue, if she wanted to (go insane), could *BE* all-powerful by taking the skills and powers of every mutant and meta on the planet permanently. So . . . Avalon can analyze techniques. I'm making this one of her official powers. Any fighting or otherwise special technique not directly magic or godhood powers, she only has to watch it a couple times and then she'll be able to dodge it perfectly or even perform it herself. ))) "Hello Doc," I greeted the other Soul-Bearer. "How are you?" He shrugged and grinned at me. "A little restless to be honest. Wanted to go a few rounds on the Gravity plates. Care to join me?" I smiled. "Thank you for the offer, but I must decline as I do not feel up to a workout at the moment. If you wish privacy . . ." I stood. "Nonsense," he immediately said, waving me back into my seat. "You can watch if you want, you may learn a few things." I shrugged back at him and replied neutrally, "Perhaps I may at that. Thank you." He walked over and programmed a setting before jumping up on the platform and began a very intensive warm-up.

(((Joshua/Avalon You cannot do that. This is what Mai yelled at you about. If someone mentions a power you just take it. But anyway that is not what the prophesy is about. I created it and others will help it come to light. Meanwhile watch out because:
He who annoys falls She who changes writings rises If they continue they will both Sucumb to the same fate To be ignored. Thus it has been written and thus it may be.
Watch out)))

((Yowcha! Girls got a temper. Watch yourself, mate.))
The gravity wasn't too high, but I had placed a containment field. What I was about to show was something I had discovered personally. It was how I had escaped Laurana. It was my ultimate technique.
Avalon's reaction could be interesting.
First, i used the ancient techniques I had learnt, increasing my strenght to its max. By those, any way.
Then I dipped into my chi, drawing as much power as I could. Next, my abilities, training and gifts as a warrior of Raiden.
Finally, I drew forth the full power of my Soul Sabre. Everything.
The result was surreal for me. Everything slowed down. My shirt ripped to shreds as my muscles expanded. The Sabre in my hands became a Katana, it's true from, and storms raged in my eyes.
A mere minute later, I fell to one knee, leaning on my sword.
"What the hell was that?" Avalon demanded. It amazed me how much she sounded like Joshua in these situations.
"Me," I said horsely. "All of my power. Everything. My chi, my strengthening and speed enhancing techniques, my position as Raiden's Warrior and my Soul Sabre. All that I am, everything I knkow, every shred of power at my command It takes a lot of concentration, and it only lasts a minute. My body isn't meant for that much power. However, a minutes usually enough."
((This is something my charecter discovered for himself. As for Laurana... one day I'll tell you. One day.)

(((Fine (Jessy). I will back off and hereby revoke the sharingon in my last post. If you want to know, ask, if you don't, don't ask.)))
"That was absolutely amazing!" I exclaimed as I knelt to give Doc a hand to his feet. The fact that we were still on the gravity platform didn't bother me, or him in the slightest.
He took my hand but for a moment, only to steady himself as he readjusted he balance to the gravity and then stood under his own power. Truly amazing.
"It is surprising that you can attain your maximum potential at all!" I went on as we walked back over to the benches. "It took me almost a hundred years of physical training before I managed to perform at my maximum power. As my strength and skills increased of course, my power and my potential have increased considerably, but I know how to do it and can if needed. However . . . there are somethings that must be held in . . . reserve, I am sure you understand?"
"Forbidden techniques?" he guessed with a grin as we sat down and he took a swallow from his water bottle.
I nodded.
"How many do you know?" he asked.
"In which arts?" I instantly asked back.
"All of them," he answered back with a shrug and a grin.
I blinked as I began to calculate. After about thirty seconds or so, Doc began to chuckle to himself. A minute after that, I turned to him and answered, "1,575,998. That I have mastered. I am still perfecting and continuously learning others that I have been instructed in, but have no practical experience in."
He just stared at me, water dripping from the tip of his bottle as he held it, frozen, in front of his face.
'I see why that annoys you now,' I thought to my Sword.

"Hmm," I mused. "Sounds like someones been a busy..."
I'm not sure what happened, but suddenly, I couldn't hold the bottle. I couldn't even stand up. This time, I fell to both knees, breathing heavily.
"The fuck?" I gasped. I felt totally drained, I didn't know why.
My Sabre gave me a power boost, but it didn't quite return all my energy. "Something's wrong," I said. "We need to get to the Library. Something is really, really wrong."

I caught him before he even fell a foot. I heard his request but I also knew better. I could not say for certain that I knew exactly what was happening, but I did have my suspicions.
Mortals on Earth are not the only ones that push themselves too hard in training and collapse afterwards.
"The Library is where you go when you need to know or learn something. When you are sick or weak, the infirmary or to wherever a doctor is at the moment is where you go. Joshua informs me that there is an infirmary with an adequate, albeit normal, physician downstairs in the main lobby. I am taking you there." I tol him in no-nonsense tones.
"But..."
"I do not know exactly how you have done things in the past, but take it from someone who has been trained, and tested for over 400 years. I am taking you to the infirmary." I quickly guided him, taking him under my arm, to the elevator and then from there to the infirmary where, of course, the physical therapist was out on a lunch break.
"Any other ideas?" Doc sarcastically remarked after I set him down on a padded bench.

"Avalon," I said, trying to calm down. "I understand the gesture, and appreciate, but I know my body. Master Wong would never have let me out of his temple if I didn't have that. There is something very wrong here. My energy is draining as fast if not faster than my Sabre can replace it. The drain should have stopped after I shut the technique down. It hasn't."
"I am not sure..." Avalon began.
"I know what I am capable of," I said. "I know my limitations. I am a Warrior of Raiden. We no not train for health benefits. Now, I say again, something is very wrong and it's nothing medical. We need to get to the Library. Now."

<Is he always like this?> I asked.
<Yep.>
"Fine," I said to Doc and immediately picked him back up.
<Repeat after me in your mind> Joshua interrupted me, <I know you're a better ninja than I ever was, but I'm still a better wizard than you are, and I'm dead. This is an instant transit spell, site-to-site that even non-practitioners could do if they knew how to manipulate their energies in the right way.>
<Ready> I replied.
<OK, here we go.> Joshua told me the spell, which was actually just an extremely complicated energy technique, easier to use than the full power of a Soul Sword though, and half a minute from picking Doc up, the two of us, and our blades, found ourselves in the Training Center Library, on the 4th floor I believe.
"I didn't know you could teleport," Doc whispered as I sat him down into one of the nearby chairs at a table.
"Just learned how. I am a quick study," I replied to his curious glare.
"Let me guess," he said tiredly, "Joshua taught you the instant transit thing."
I just shrugged in response.
To my surprise he started laughting. "He never could get it down pat. Oh, don't get me wrong, he could do it, he just figured it as a waste of time. He always used too much energy in the transit. Of course I'm one to talk. Took me three years to get it down pat. Joshua learned it in 3 weeks, when we were hanging down in Sydney, but he never practiced it enough to master it."
"It is a rather simple technique," I observed.
<Hey, I just preferred to use my portals. Besides, time magic was my thing, and I did master it . . . eventually. Before I died. I just never used it as much.>
"Uh huh," I placated him, which seemed to spawn more chuckles from Doc.

"What a mess," I muttered. We took a step forward and ran straight into...
"Jessy!" I landed square on my butt, not really having much of a will to stand anymore anyway. "What's going on?"
