"Huh... maybe I should try that trick. So, anyone know when birthday girl is getting here?"

I blinked and rubbed my eyes. My God, they weren't joking, they were really talking about Tyrial. In the Spot. Helping. Good God, that was something I never thought I'd see. Never. Not ever. Moving on...
I glanced over at Aralin and shook my head, seeing her in a deep glaring-contest with Illyria. I sighed, feeling a certain animosity towards the pure demon myself - our species had been locked in deadly combat for a few millennia, after all. In fact, the thought of blue thunder brought back a few unpleasant memories. Those two could glare as long as they wanted too, provided that both remembered to keep their hands to themselves.
((I didn't watch a lot of Angel, so I'm not sure I understand Illyira right, but that's the idea I got from teh summaries - she was a pure demon, correct?))
I moved into the kitchen after Doc, rubbing my temples slightly. Yes, I was glad to see everyone again, especially after all that time in the crypt, but I wasn't quite ready for all the noise. The chatter and the laughter and the bickering. It wasn't helping me get out of 'snow-white mode' as Jessy had so eloquently put it.
"So Doc," I said, rubbing my eyes slightly and leaning against the counter. "Anything new and exciting happen of late?"

"The usual," I said. "Tyrial doing stuff completely out of chaerecter, I started dating Charlotte..."
"About time," Del said dryly.
"...Crazy witch decides she wants me, tries to split us up. The usual."

Toraan appeared in the middle of the room, spooking a few of the people there.
I walked in through the front door.
"Hello." I said to everyone, "I suggest we quicken the pace of setting up, Charlotte is walking up a street not far from here, in this direction."

Shifting quickly into a microscopic creature (so much easier than hiding) I sat on the table top. Charlotte was going to be so suprised. Well, she would be if she didn't attack green and misty.

I turned into a scrappy cat that looked like it had spent all its life on the street and sat by the doorway.

((If anyone hasnt posted yet, then we shall now presume that they were alredy here, ok? So all good guys are present! heehee, presents... and Doc, the whole second band thing was josh not me.)) A bright and loud 'poof' heralded Ate's arrival, "Am i late?" She asked, only to get swift cries of 'HIDE!' From several people. seconds later, Avalon returned with the bands, and they all got similar treatment. I looked around once more, turned out the light, and hid myself, feeling Charlie's presence approaching. I felt her confusion at the lack of light or sound coming from the bar, but never the less she tugged on the handle, opening the door...
((Just to note, Charlie should write this next bit me thinks!!))

Normally the spot was kind of bright and busy, to see it so deserted looking scared me slightly. I began to wish I had worn something more suitable for fighting but I had felt like dressing up after such a relaxing day, besides Doc hadn't seen the dress I was wearing. It was black and the skirt fell all the way to the ground with a slit at least thigh high. The top part tied around my neck but went low at the front and almost non-existant at the back. I never usually wore anything of the sort but birthdays are special times and I hadn't seen Doc all day, i wanted to give him something to look at. So...back to the scarily quiet spot...I pushed open the door cautiously, my left hand reaching under my skirt to the strap around my leg holding my soul dagger. As I pulled the weapon out there was a sudden burst of light and I blinked rapidly, unprepared for both the brightness and the blast of noise which accompanied it.

The look on her face was wonderful. Everything, all the stress, all the worry, was worth it to see the look on her face. Finally we were going to have fun. One night off.

"happy birthday" I said in human form, still grinning.

I was grinning so wide. I stepped forward, "Happy Birthday Charlie-girl." I said, hugging her, but then i stepped aside for Doc.

I hung back while the rest of the room erupted in noise - even Aralin found it within herself to shout a very hearty 'surprise'. I didn't ruin it by not shouting, but the sudden hopping up and loud screaming made for one rather lightheaded Aredhel. Not that I'd ruin Charlotte's night by letting her know that... I'd already ruined enough of her life.
I shook my head. It does not do to live in the past, and to forget the present, I reminded myself. I sighed, put on a smile (which I hoped looked genuine, because I really was genuinely happy that she'd have a regular birthday) and went to give my own well wishes.
"Happy birthday," were the only words I could find. I fingered the box in my pocket again, starting to get a little bit nervous.

Things kind of got unnaturally quiet when Aredhel walked up to Charlotte, the Watcher's brat eyeing the ancient elfin vampire with a look of mistrust, the same mistrust anyone would give to a chronic prankster btw.
Charlotte took the gift and hesitated for a moment. "Well . . . uh, happy birthday," Aredhel repeated, obviously uncomfortable, to those that knew her.
"So, are you going to open it or not?" Doc asked from just behind the birthday girl.
