I narrowed my eyes but said nothing. I didn't like that he was putting me in back, keeping me out of harms way... what was with this guy? He didn't exactly strike me as the fluffy type but he was treating me like a child to be protected... it was annoying. Still, the plan seemed viable, so I circled round the building to find a way up to the roof.
A minute or two later I was crouched atop the building, peering down through a broken skylight. The scene below me sent a shive down my spine, but it wasn't fear... it was more like a weird, misplaced excitement. The warehouse was full of lower class demons and vampires of all types, all looking to the big bastard who was clearly our guy. It was oddly reminiscent of that night technically years ago, yet fresh in my mind when I had faced a horde like this alone, and something deep inside had taken over.
Th big bad was talking to them, almost preaching about his power and what he could give them... if only they would give their alliegence, and fuel the appalling memories that gave him such power. The more mayhem and carnage, the better. I scowled, it was time to take this dick down. I focussed on the glowing orb in his chest, and checked the crossbow. Timing was important- if I made my move too early, it would give the others away. So I lay in wait, my target in my sights.

Annie hung in the shadows of the building, every demon and vampire had their attention focused on the demon who was making grand promises of power. Had nothing really changed?
Why was she sticking to the shadows? Why was she following Doc's instructions? She was a slayer! Yet here she was waiting for a signal. Although, having a distraction with so many targets, helped in many ways and certainly made it easier to slay them all.
((Maya, you have a thread in the shop.))

Doc grinned, making sure each of hte girls had a position. Time to do what he, as the least powered (even if Maya didn't understand her full abilities) was made for.
"Is this a private party, or can any Joe Blogs of the street join in?" He said loudly as he walked in, palming the small throwing dagger in his sleeve.
Decoy.
"Who are you?" One of them asked. Doc shrugged as his arm moved, impaling the demon through the throat.
"The Lone Ranger, bitch," he said with a grin, pumping mana through his body as he charged forward.

That was the plan... Well, it certainly distracted them she'd give him that.
When she came out from the shadows she made no noise, before bringing down her sword upon a demon who's back was turned, his head hitting the ground before she swung at the next, a few turning towards her. She was able to fall the next demon before one tried attacking her.

Doc moved quickly among them, trying to draw as many as he could to himself and Rouge with 'witty banter' and quick barbs, leaving a clear shot for Maya to take out the main guy.
He hoped.

The second all hell broke loose, I fired. The bolt shot directly towards my target, but moments before it hit, he seemed to sense it, and he grabbed the nearest demon, using him as a shield and allowing him to be impaled instead. I cursed, and followed his movement through the crowd. I allowed instinct to take over, and loosed bolts with lightening speed, felling the demons he fled behind, even when sometimes I could have sworn the bolts curved in midair until they found their targets. But I couldn't go on like this, I didn't have endless arrows. So I paused, watching the great powerful demon as he hid from me behind his followers, ordering them to shield him... And then he looked right at me, meeting my eyes, and it felt like I'd been hit in the face with a truck. BAM I was a child, sat atop those rocks with my brothers strong arms around me. The breeze blew through my hair, and the waves played against the shore, and it would be so easy to let go and let the memory embrace me... but there was that bit of me, that fiery, angry, unrelenting part that screamed at me to snap out of it. There was something more going on here, PAY ATTENTION! And with all the effort I could conjure, I dragged myself back to that roof top, my finger on a trigger, my eyes locked onto those of a smug looking demon, who was convinced that I was under his spell, until the moment I smiled back at him. That is, the moment after I pulled that trigger, and a bolt shot fast and true directly into the shining orb at his chest. Then he looked surprised. Then angry. And then the glow at his centre got even brighter, and it spread in tendrils right across his body, and it burned him right up. He screamed, he writhed, he reached out to the demons around him, who backed away from their leader in terror, and then finally he fell to the ground, still. Got him. I grinned to myself. And then another truck hit... Escape... running... the dreams... the power... the fear... the loneliness... Faith.... Giles.... Slayers.... duty... demons... LA... Doc... the Truth.
I wobbled at my post, almost tumbling back off the roof, but I steadied myself. I gaze blearily down at the fight below... Doc and Rogue had already despatched alot of them and some were running... I slid down to the edge of the roof and jumped down, landing nimbly below. I couple of demons rushed me as they fled, but they were dead in seconds, I couldn't even tell you exactly what I did to them. I was in a shocked daze. It was over. The demon was dead. And everything was a hundred times more complicated than it had been before.

When you watch those movies or shows where a person looses their memories and everything rushes to them all at once and they remember who they are and what they once where. Think that plus feeling every emotion you've had since. It hurt. Though the body wasn't harmed, the mind and soul certainly took a beating.
Once more focused on the demons in front of her and struck down hard. Hating the weakness of being displaced in a time she didn't understand. Hating that a demon attacked her. Hating reliving everything that had happened. Even the demon inside was furious.

"And judging by that," Doc said with a grin, looking at the three demons about to attack him. "Rogue just got her groove back. You guys may want to leave before she turns on you," and I really need to find Maya, he thought. Make sure she's okay.

She dodged a strike from a vampire before beheading the vampire with a grin, before tuning on one of the three that were in front of Doc, causing the other two to scatter.
Instead of following the demons she stalked up to the demon who lay on the ground before decapitating him. "Just in case," she muttered darkly, not wanting this demon to get back up and rolled the head away from the body. "I don't want him getting back up." Of course the last part of to herself more than it was to Maya or Doc.

"Understandable," Doc said with a nod. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and try and find Maya. Make sure she's okay."

I frowned back at the building, listening to the sounds of hte fight raging within. I should probably go help them... But then again, if Rogue has her memory back, theyre probably doing just fine. And Doc is in there. But a good fight might help... Another few demons fled the warehouse, and I took them down with ease, my mind still focussed on deciding what to do, and frankly it annoyed me that they interupted. I didn't want to deal with the Doc situation any more than I ever had, but I remembered how he had treated me, caring for me, teaching me... irritating the crap out of me... he wanted me to be his sister. Did I want him to be my brother? On top of that, how on earth was I supposed to process 7 years of information in a few seconds?

Doc moved for the back door, nailing a couple of demons hard with his sword before heading outside. He knew Maya, now that she had her memory back, probably wanted nothing to do with him. Still he had to check, if only for his own sake. "Maya, you okay out here?"

For a moment, I just stared at him. I knew my expression was a mixture of everything from fear and loneliness to stubborn independance... and the truth was that I didn't know the answer to his question. Was I ok? I shook my head, "I... I dont know, Doc." I admitted finally. "I can't process all this... I think maybe I need some time..." At which point another whole load of demons exited the warehouse... only they weren't wildly fleeing. Four leapt down from the roof, another three coming through the door. In a second we were surrounded. "Hold that thought." I told Doc with a wry smile as we automatically moved back to back. Looks like I get the fight after all.

"Thought holding," Doc said, smirking to himself as he prepared for the upcoming fight. "I'd say 'I'll take the ugly one' but i can't tell the difference," he grabbed one, drawing him into a hard knee to the gut. "So, let's just go with 'ollie ollie ox and free'."

"I have no idea what that means." I replied, delivering a snap kick to a vampires chin, sending him flying backwards into a pile of crates, "But it sounds fine by me." I tossed the crossbow aside, and pulled a bolt out of the quiver, thrusting it into the heart of the next demon that rushed me. It grinned, "Sorry sweetie," It growled, "I'm no vampire." I shrugged, and slammed my knee up into its groin, snapping its neck as it doubled over in pain.
