I shrugged away from his hand and snapped, "I dont need you to protect me." I had relied on too many people in my life even up to where I remembered, and they were all dead. "I'll do my part." I snatched up one of the other swords, thinking, it'll be fine... just stick the pointy end into the bad guys. How hard can it be?

"If you're sure, but..." Doc began, looking at the sword she grabbed. "Do you even know how to use that? Relying on Slayer instincts will only get you so far," he grabbed a crossbow and held it out to her. "You may be a Slayer, but you don't know how to use it. You go in, it'll be as a liability. If you can aim a spell, you can aim one of these. Just stay back and aim at the parts that look lethal, okay?" He didn't want her getting in trouble. Not like this. Was that so wrong?

I snatched the bow away from him, utterly fuming. He was right of course, and I hated it. I definitely wasn't going to mention that I wasn't exactly great at the whole spell thing... I wasn't sure I would ever know how I did what I did that time... But somewhere inside me I felt a need to do this, to get my memories back, sure, but also to prove to this guy I'd just met that I could look after myself, that I didn't need him to protect me... why I was so desperate to prove myself to him, or better, one up him, I really didn't know. Thank god I had actually used a crosbow once at a summer camp archery thing I was forced to go to as a kid. I loaded it up, swung the quiver of extra bolts over a shoulder and said, "Shall we then?"

Doc raised an eyebrow at her reaction. "Well, you've got some spunk at this age, don't you," he said teasingly. Okay, Maya, you want to play? That was fine by him. "Try not to poke anyone's eye out with that thing, 'kid'," he smirked at her, turning to Annie. "All set over there, Slayer?" Yes, he was getting her worked up, primarily so she wouldn't think about how out of her depth she was. Plus it was a brothers perogative to tease little sis.

Urgh! Who the hell did he think he was?! It annoyed me that his teasing annoyed me this much. I just wanted to get on with it, kill this thing and get myself- whoever i was now- back. I had to believe that then everything would make sense. Everything would be better.

She raised an eyebrow at their antics before responding to Doc's question. "I have been ready now lets get moving. I'd like to remember everything that has happened..." though part of her didn't want to remember. As a vampire she could only imagine what horrors she caused.

"Alright then,' he said, grabbing a short sword and, after a short second, an axe. "Ladies, we have a demon to squish. Let's get to squishing," with a smirk he marched towards the door. Mal rolled his eyes.
"Sometimes, I worry about him."

With a raised eyebrow and a firm grip on the crossbow, I followed him. The sooner we got this sorted, the better.

"Why do you always feel the need to make some comment that is not amusing at all?" she asked, watching him. He certainly was starting to grate on her nerves.

"Someone has to try and lighten the mood," he said with a shrug as they exited the library. "Otherwise we'll all get too serious and probably throttle each other. Understandable, yes?" Plus the jokes are hte only thing that's keeping my head from exploding, he added in his head.

She nodded. It wasn't too much of a surprise and she could tell that there was something else about it but dropped it. Never being much for misplaced humor she could still understand the concept. The automobiles drove past and there were very few people on the streets, but she ignored the details of the world she didn't understand or belong in. Besides the obvious, not much seemed to have changed.

There was clearly more to it, and I sensed that Rogue saw it too... but I said nothing. It was none of my business. I just wanted to get this done.

The building 'warehouse 12' was, large; very close to the water obviously for some sort of storage carried by boat. Curiously she stretched her senses, taking in the scent of the ocean. It was strange. They were far away enough that she could not see the ocean but close enough a normal human could smell the salt, but she could hear the waves hitting some man made wall. The sound was too sharp for anything else. She could smell the salt coming off the ocean but could no longer taste it.
So it was true that vampires couldn't taste the same as humans. Did that mean that the only thing she could taste was blood? The idea almost made her shudder if it wasn't for the close promise of finding out who she was now. What she had done... Obvious she wasn't bad now, or why else would this Doc try and help her? Let her stay with him. But he knew she was dangerous, as she noted when she woke up and was choking him, but there was something in his eyes at the same time that said he trusted her to some degree.
Stupid to trust a vampire.

"Alright, ladies, we need to be careful about this," Doc hissed quietly. "Annie, can you tran sneak in the side? I'll go in the front, try and act like Dinner. Maya, stay back, when you get a good shot, take it, but do NOT enter the building unless you have to. Try some shots through a skylight or something," this leadership thing wasn't his style, but he had people depending on him. His sister wanted her memories back.
Boy that was still weird.

Annie could hardly contain a grin. Finally! A chance to actually do something and not just wait. She hated waiting with a passion.
The ground didn't offer the dangers of her time. The ground here was smooth and had few chips in it. A few pieces of litter was floating around but nothing that looked as if it would cause a noise. The comfort of the blade in her hand helped ease her nerves a bit, part of her was over anxious to get her memories back.
