My head snapped up at the sound of my name. I blinked a couple of times to clear the makeup filled tears from my eyes... but I still didn't recognise the man standing over me. Instinct took over, forcing me to my feet and pushing me back as far away from him as I could get, "Who the hell are you?" I snapped angrily, checking for my concealed stake. Good, it was still there. Of course I had considered briefly that this person might really know me in this time... if that was what had happened... he might be a friend... but that thought was short lived. Whichever senario was true, I knew that I wouldn't be trusting any human being again for a very bloody long time. I was better off alone, as crap as it was. Then a woman entered the bathroom behind him, and the hair on my arms stood up on end. "Keep the fuck away from me." I hissed, grasping the stake and glaring at the vampire.

"You were right, she doesn't remember, I well wait outside," Well, whatever age Maya was now, she was aware of being a slayer, she hoped that was a good thing. Annie slipped back through the door. She had forgotten for a moment that she was a vampire and the idea of getting staked was not a priority. She leaned against the wall next to the door, keeping an ear open if he needed any help, secretly she was hoping he wouldn't need it.

Doc nodded at Annie, his eyes never leaving Maya. Damn, as if trying to get to know here wasn't hard enough. "Easy Maya, Im..." yeah, 'I'm you're brother' probably wasn't the best thing to say right now. "I'm an ally. My name's Doc, well, that's what everyone calls me. You've been affected by some kind of demon that for some reason is erasing memories. Anne back there is a victim, she can't remember being a vampire, in her mind, she's still a Slayer," he edged closer slowly, arms out as non-threateningly as he could. "We were just trying to get information on the other victims when I... noticed you coming in here out of the corner of my," cause he wasn't going to 3explain he felt her. He didn't understand how that happened.

"Oh right." I said sarcastically, "You often follow girls into the ladies bathroom?" I asked. "And you really expect me to believe that shes the slayer?" That point had almost made me laugh, "Thats just a myth cooked up to keep little baby monsters inline. -go to sleep or the slayer will come get you-" As far as my research had gotten, this was the most likely truth. One girl against the whole underworld? Ridiculous, they would be lined up and killed before they knew what they were meant to be. Besides... If there was a slayer, then where had she been when my family was murdered? Or when the cloak dudes started after me? Or when Ben was killed?
((she doesnt know that she is a slayer. She is back to when she was a potential, and she didn't know who the bringers were when they came after her. She has had enough runs ins and done enough research to recongise vampires though... whcih is prob helped by her slayer senses that she is unaware of.))

"Only when someone I know looks like they could use a hand," Doc said pointedly. Obviously she didn't know about being a Slayer. "And don't make me do the throwing knife test the Watchers used to pull on new Slayers to prove it, cause you're one too. Well, now, not aure about the time frame you remember," he sighed, squatting in front of her. "Look, you've had it tough. You haven't told me much, but I know that much. Life sucks, the universe hates you and your 99% sure Fate has put a nice big bounty on any kind of happiness you might have had. Feelings I know all too well, believe me. But," he gave her a half smirk, one of those infuriating little smirk's that told you he knew just enough to be annoyingly right. "Right now, I'm probably the only person you have on your side that can help you. So, you can sit in here, cry a bit and probably lose control of the emence magical ability you body has now that you don't know how to control, and believe me, I've had you pissed off enough that you nearly turned me into a nice bloody smeer on the landscape. OR you could come with me, we figure out who's responsible and you get to kill something, which I don't know about you, but that makes me feel better," he stood up, holding a hand out to her. "so, what's it going to be?"

I starred at him as several points crashed around my brain with little regard for eachother... Firstly, he did seem to know me a bit at least... enough to seem fairly comfortable with me. Maybe he really could help. The second made me shiver internally- the power he spoke of... I assumed he meant that which had been released when I went looking for the demons that killed my family. I hadn't even known what I was doing... it was almost like a dream... it just happens and then you wake up, remembering vaguely but understanding little. I had barely been able to float a pencil since, and frankly wasn't sure I wanted to. Then there was the way he spoke of my pain.... and something in his eyes told me he had felt his fair share too. Next why would he think I would enjoy killing something?? Although I had to admit the thought did give me a feeling of purpose, something to focus on.... but why... Hang on. What the hell was that about me being a slayer?!?!?!
So while my brain fought this out, a calm part considered that he was right, I had options- tell him to get lost and sit here alone with no idea what to do... or trust him just enough to find out what was going on and hopefully stop it. The idea of trusting him made my stomach churn, esspecially considering that thing just outside... but the idea of being alone any longer wasn't much better.
I decided to get a couple more answers before making a decision. I scowled at him, "What do you mean, I'm a slayer? I'm not the slayer, I dont have a watcher, I dont have super strength, I dont have anything."

"Not having a Watcher doesn't mean you're not a Slayer," Doc tinformed her. "It just means the all knowing twat waffles haven't found you yet. As to not being super strong... I'm pretty sure hospitals don't fall apart quite THAT badly," he pointed out an indentation in the wall that looked like someone had punched it very hard. "and unless anyone else has come in here extremely upset," he smirked at her. Okay, so letting a newbie Slayer (relatively. She didn't know she'd been a Slayer for 7 years right now) know about their whole deal was actually kind of fun. He could get used to this. "I'd say that was you, yes?"

I gaped at the wall. Did I do that? I would have noticed... wouldn't I? I looked at my hand- it was clean, unblemished, not the slightest sign of bruising, let alone the blood that should have been present after that sort of impact. Whoa. "Oh." I said vaguely. But then I was frowning again, "Hang on... how could the watchers possibly not find me? I mean... isn't that like their entire reason for existence? How hard can it be to keep track of one girl?"

"Out of I don't know how many that had the potential?" Doc said pointedly. "They seem to have missed more than the fair share in recent years. Almost like someone was trying to put them out of business," he was trying very hard not to be pleased by that thought. "Plus, well... there's been a restructure. You were missed by the main group in charge, picked up by some... trouble shooters I guess. you never fully explained it to me. Just that you had a friend with connectons that weren't a part of the Council, but could get info from them, that could help me with some... stuff. That's all I know," he said with a shrug. "so, you comin'? I need to ask some questions from patients, then get you and Annie back to the Library, get the last pieces, find the bad guy and, if possible, do some killing."

"Restructure...?" I asked, though I was passed expecting a straight answer from him. Fact was though, I had no other leads as to what was going on, so it was madness to refuse him. I stuck my stake back in its hiding place, shaking my head slowly, "Whatever... I'll come with you." But I'm not gonna TRUST you for a minute, I added silently to myself.

"alright," he said with a nod. "first off, no staking Anne. she's a lead," and an ally, though it probably wouldn't be good to tell Maya that right now. She seemed the 'stake first' kind of person in her younger years and telling her that, well... "We'll talk to some of the other victims, see if we can't find some kind of connection. If we have a similarity, we can find our demon. Then Mal can get to work."

I raised an eyebrow doubtfully, wondering who the hell 'Mal' was and what exactly he intended to learn from a bunch of people who didn't remember anything. I nodded though, willing to go along with his plan... as long as I kept an eye on him I figured I must be safer than I was on my own... unless of course this was all a big scam and he was in on it... but frankly I would just have to deal with that when I came to it... and in the end, at least the worst case senario now is I end up dead, and it's not as though that would be a big shock. At least it would all be over finally....

"Come on," he said, gesturing to the door. "We'd better get a move on. Lots to do, not a lot of time to do it in. Probably. Maybe. Usually a time limit on these things," he led her out of the door, nodding at Annie. "She's in. Let's get some answers."

"Than let us get some answers, I would like to get this solved and back to normal," she said, glad they had finally come out of the room. Leaning by the door and getting odd looks from passerbys was starting to grate on her nerves. Waiting wasn't one of her strengths.
