"It's the unexplainable and mass thing that should have made it obvious that something was going on," she said before looking at Maya. "Have you tried chamomile tea? It should help you sleep." She could tell that there was more to it but she chose to leave it alone. It was clearly something between the two siblings and she decided her efforts were better off wasted on somethign that would be of use. Back to the dreaded books.
She went back to the table and grabbed a book from the demon stack. How she dreaded this part. The research. It was always dull and boring.

"I'll give it a go." I said, hoping that the sarcasm wasn't too evident. I was ridiculously tired all of a sudden though, and desperately wanted an excuse to leave. It didn't look as though anything was going to happen right this moment. "I think I have a couple of books back at mine that might be handy." I told them. It wasn't a lie, but it also wasn't my reason for leaving. "I'm gonna head home and have a look through some stuff... I'll meet you guys back here?"

"Alright," Doc said quietly. His very presence was putting her on edge. Maybe he should leave town for a while, give her a chance to get over... well, everything. After this was dealt with. "Meanwhile, I'll head to the hospital, dig around my contacts there," Mal looked at him pointedly, as if to say 'what about me?' "We don't have enough information right now for Mal to do a look up. Could be any number of demons. Best we try and figure out what this 'nightmare' is and if it's recurring or different for each person. Maya..." he beganlooking back at his sister. "Maybe you should think about trying to get some rest before heading back with the books," the words were out before he could stop them. She just said she couldn't sleep, idiot, probably not the best choice of words, he thought to himself. "If you can manage it. Just... put some kind of wards up so this whatever it is doesn't get to you," the 'be careful' went unsaid.

I found myself thinking that it was sweet that he was worried about me... but my constant subconscious defense mechanisms simply found it annoying. As though I ever slept without wards around my room, what did he take me for? Still... he had this pained expression on his face... maybe he thought I was leaving because I couldn't stand to be around him? I wasn't sure. Was it fair to let him suffer all this over me? I dug my nails into my palm, although I hadn't realised that my fingers were squeezed into fists before then. Pull yourself together, I told myself... one thing he's right about is I need some sleep. Get home. Sort yourself out. Deal with this tomorrow. "Yeh." I said, not sure which statement or question I was answering, "I guess I'll see you in the morning." I turned and left, still unsure whether I was meant to have said anything else....
I hurried home, running again, and enjoying the breeze on my face.
Once back in my apartment, I checked all the usual wards, and took a shower. Feeling refreshed yet more tired than ever, I flopped down onto my bed and was asleep in moments.
I was sitting on a rock, with strong, protective arms around me- my brothers arms, I was sure. Warm salty air blew in my face as I looked out across the waves and listened to the crash as they hit the shore. I smiled...
Suddenly I was somewhere else, a room I tried not to think about... blood dripped from the walls and I felt a scream building in my throat...
But now I was in a club, dancing away and letting myself go a bit, while still scanning the room for threats.... and there I found a girl, a little older than me, her dark eyes watching me. She smiled... and then she told me what it all meant....
I was younger again now, sat in a park with friends, laughing and joking, while knowing that any day now I would have to leave them, and it was all my parents fault...
And now I was running. I was running for my life, blood on my hands. My heart hammered in my chest as I forced my legs to keep moving. I could hear them behind me, their effortless footsteps never faltering. Tears streamed down my face. Who were the men in cloaks? Why did they want me? Why wouldn't they leave me alone? I was still only grasping at my sanity after my family, and the demons, and now this... they had killed him, my one last hold on reality, and I didn't know where to go! All I could do was keep running. All I had left was not wanting to DIE! I forced myself onwards, wanting to sceam but not having the breath to do so...
And then my eyes snapped open, which was odd because they must have been open already to see the darkness of the alley and the corner that I knew I just had to reach... But now they saw the peeling paint of a ceiling. I looked around at the drab apartment, and I finally screamed.
Where. The fuck. Am I?

Doc nodded as she left before turning to Rogue. "Right then. I'm off to check on the hospital. You can hang here or you can follow with. Your choice, but I need to get some answers on this dream everyone seems to have had before they regressed. Coming?"

"Um... Alright," she said getting back up. "Where is the hospital?" she asked curiously.

"Uptown from here." He said. "We'll have to take the sewers again, though. Sorry."

"What can you do?" she said, partially defeated. "I am a vampire."

"Yeah... look, I know it won't change anything, but we're going to figure this out," Ma's eyebrow went up slightly. Well, THIS was interesting. "Somehow. Just... try not to get too down okay. I know I'm annoying, but you've managed to go this long without killing me," he added with a wry grin.

"Yes, that may be true but when was the last time I... ate? You do know that vampires go into a bloodlust without blood right?" She honestly had no idea how long vampires could go without blood. Her stomach flipped at the thought of drinking blood.

"Hospital," he pointed out. "Oh, right, they didn't have blood banks back when you were human, huh? Well anyway, we can now store blood to be used for transfusions, basically if a person suffers a major injury and bleeds out, you can replace it with blood of a similar type. While we're checking things out, you can slip[ into their storage and pick up a pint."

She scrunched up her nose, she wasn't thrilled at the idea of drinking blood at all. "You mean steal it?" she asked. She hadn't stolen anything since she was a child and that was an apple.

"Technically, vampires steal blood all the time," he pointed out. Yeesh, she hadn't thought of this? "This way, you don't actually kill anyone for it. Is that a bad thing?"

"No, it is not a bad thing but it is blood..." The idea of drinking blood was making her ill. "Let us just go."

"Alright. Mal we'll, be back!"
"I look forward to it with baited breath," Mal drawled absently. Doc gave him an odd lok and shrugged. Eh, Mal was a weird guy.
Mal, meanwhile, had been taking some notice of Doc's interactions, with both Maya nd Annie. He was trying to make bonds, and maybe trying a little too hard. Interesting. Mal had known Jackson for a while and he had never seen him actively attempting to draw bonds like this.
