Rogue stood on a roof top, watching this man down below. She didn't know what drew her to him but she knew something was up. He didn't seem like the type who was walking through the alley to take a short cut home to his kids. In fact he looked like the kind who was looking for someone. The gleam of a gun under his short jacket confirmed her suspicions.
She grinned as she stalked the man. After all he might just own a weapon. She waited to see him in the act. Then she would intervene. She maybe would even have dinner tonight.
She may not be evil but this man certainly was. She was sure of it. As he came around a building, there was a woman who was just coming out from an office building. Her car was parked across the street, on the side of the street that both me and the man were on. She saw him and instead of fear there was happiness on her face.
Rogue relaxed at the happy look as she ran to him and they embraced.
"I guess I was wrong," she said, speaking too early. A shot rang out bringing her attention to the couple. The woman shrieked as the man fell. Rogue lept off the roof top and landed on the ground, her ankle making a popping noise. She bit back a yelp as another shot was fired.
There was a man standing in the entrance of the alley holding a gun.
"If I can't have her no one can!" he screamed, tears running down his face.
Eh, how cliche. She popped the ankle back in place and ran between the couple and the man who had shot at them, her game face on. He looked scared and shot her once, a few inches from her heart. Her body moved slightly from the impact but did not fall. The man took several steps back, firing with each step. One went into her heart but the rest missed. He took off running and Rogue followed in pursuit.

Gun shots were never a good thing, in his experience. He'd been the target of one too many in the past. Hearing them always brought back bad memories, always brought a phantom pain back in his shoulder, where a little lower could have hit his heart, ending his short life.
Well, short back then.
That was 18 years ago and, as he moved quickly towards where the shots were sounding from, he wondered if that was 18 years too long. Would she even remember him? Would she be just another indoctrinated slave-Slayer to the Council. He didn't know. He'd heard rumours things had changed, 'new management'. He didn't buy it.
But his search could continue later, he thought as he reached the downed couple. The man was bleeding, but he'd survive. the woman was shaken, babbling about someone who had saved them, who had taken several shots and kept going, chasing the man down the alley. eyes narrowed as he followed. Strange for a demon, but maybe it was some kind of vengance demon, or something that fed on hate. As much as he hated stepping in for someone like that, he couldn't let the man die.
Let the police handle the shooter.
The demon was his.

She loved the chase. The bullets hurt like hell and it was going to be hell to get them out. She was bleeding, that she could tell. It would only make her weaker, but more then enough to handle a pesky human. She caught up to the man easily enough and grabbed him by the neck and pinned him to the building's wall, the brick grinding into his skin. She hissed at him.
"You like that didn't you? The taking of a life? You worm!" He gasped for breath probably praying to his god, asking for forgiveness, protection maybe! She chuckled at that thought.

He bolted into the alley, seeing the shooter begging for his life. He palmed the small dagger hidden up the sleeve of his long coat as he stopped. "You know, as much as that piece of shit deserves this, I really can't let you kill him. Kind of a hunter thing I guess. Don't worry, I plan on handing him to the police once I'm, done with you. If that's any consolation."

She raised an eyebrow as she looked at him. "You think the police well do anything? This guy well probably find a way out of it. And probably thinks he is perfectly justified in shooting people." She watched this new person with only slight interest and what perfect world did he think he lived in. "The police have not changed much over the years."

"And this is the way to do it?" He replied, realizing he was facing a vampire. A vampire interested in justice? "And since when do vampires care about anything other than taking a bite out of the next nubile young thing to come around? Quit the justice act, sweetie, it's not going to run far with me. I've been dealing with you're kind far too long for that."

"Do I look like a sweetie to you?" she asked, not caring what this human had to say. "Do I also look like I care what you think of me?" Without even blinking she let him go before punching him, effectively knocking the shooter out. "You want to save scum like this?"

"Want to? No," he admitted. "But if I don't then I become like them. That will never happen. Plus, well," he shifter into a fighting stance, energizing his limbs with his Talent. "the less of your kind there are, the less reason for them to even exist. win/win for me. Not so much for you."

"How would having vampires not exist, stop having them exist?" she asked him, clearly not interested. "Why don't you just go home and watch a movie or something?" She really wasn't in the mood for any amateur stuff tonight.

"Cause their whole reason is making sure there's a Slayer to fight you're kind," he explained. "No vampire, no need for a Slayer. Understand now? Being dead really does affect the brain."

"I'll still be a slayer, no matter how long I've been a vampire. And I doubt that I'll be gone just because you say so," she shrugged. "There well always be slayers. Vampires are not the only reason slayers exist. Demons, witches and other creatures well always make slayers needed. You plan on killing every witch, demon and vamp just to make sure there are no more slayers? You are naive aren't you?"

"You don't get it and I'm tired of explaining it," he snarled racing forward. "No vampires means no need to train Slayers which means the Council ceases to exist," he got in range as fast as he could, a deal faster than an ordinary human, delivering a hard right hook.

The hit landed and instead of a yelp Rogue chuckled as she stepped back. Yeah, it stung but she was used to pain. A punch would just sting for a bit. She didn't drop into a fighting stance. "Watchers? The enemy?" Boy this guy had a few screws loose.

"You obviously don't know much about them," he said, stepping back. No attack? This was new. "They're no better than the demons they fight. How many Slayers have died over the years because of them? Rules to keep the slayer's safe? Bullshit. Safe? Like tearing a five year old girl awy from her family and killing htem as you go keeps her 'safe'?"

"I dunno what kind of watchers you've been running into but mine was very much the opposite," she chuckled. "She was kind. Earned enough respect for part of me not to kill her." Even her vampire side seemed to have a respect for her. Maybe it was a twisted side that wanted to see the watcher live and know her own slayer was a monster.
