"I don't want that for you." It was a statement more than it was anything else. She wasn't quite sure what to say. The thought of him being scared of anything like this was surprising in many ways, but the most was how much she didn't want him to be scared of this new threat.

"I appreciate that," he said with a smile. "But this is one thing we can't do anything about. We just have to live with it for now. Until we firgure it out, or..." a lump appeared in his throat as he finished the sentance in his mind. Or he gets to me.

"You say that, but you don't know," Doc whispered. "No one does," he turned away from her. "Thank you. for... you know. but I don't think there's anything you can do. all we can do is wait. After that... there may still be nothing you can do. Although," he smiled slightly, though she couldn't see it. "If he is coming after me now, at least I found Kath... Maya first, right?"

"I'm never mean to Mal," he said with a quirky grin. "Actually he called me, so I didn't have to 'be mean' as you say. And as for what I would have done, probably tried and stopped you. Tried being the operative word," he gave a light chuckle.

"Right." She shook her head. Did he ever plan anything out? "And did you follow me or just figure I would be here?" She was in this cemetery often enough and she thought she was careful not to be followed, but she hadn't cared if he followed or not. To be honest she was developing a soft spot for him and the truth of that was slightly scary to her. Soft spots could be dangerous.
Oh, but you like being around other people... the darker part of her coo'ed. You enjoy watching them squirm around. Thats why you try and fit in. Not to go unnoticed but to appear human.
She shrugged, brushing off the thought almost as quickly as it had come.

"Warehouse down town," Doc told her. "Was empty. Now, not so much. Why do vampires seem to like those sorts of places. I mean, I scoped it out earlier. It has a skylight for cryin' out loud!" he shook his head. "Why a skylight?"

Smart not to eat where you rest. It gets you caught. But if they were really smart they would have chosen a place to eat that if they had to they could easily stay in.
