Noticing the sudden tension between the girls I frowned and asked Mai, "What did she say?" my voice as tired as hers was a moment ago.

I sighed as Mai suddenly looked extremely pissed off. I gave her a smile
[What's wrong kid?]
When I got no reply except an annoyed but friendly grin I closed my eyes and wondered if anyone would notice me catching some sleep. The past few days had been far too weird to even attempt to contemplate.

Turning back to Tucker I said, "So I guess I never really registered your age. How old are you?" This was the moment of truth. Would he say he was too old for me?

"Oh. Like Josh. Yeah..." Dammit! Well what's five years? "I'm nearly 17." Actually I'd turned 16 a month ago but... oh well.

'That's cool although you do seem... Younger. Don't hit me if I wasn't supposed to say that. Sometimes I have no tact, and I ramble. Alot' I paused 'And I'm rambling now sorry. Your turn'

(((Jessy!! Dude! Way to mess up my carefully constructed cute meaningful moment!! And we weren't even in the same room!!! Josh and me were in a different room, alone. *pouts* I'm gonna sulk now.)))
[Dont worry about it] I mentally told Nicki. Then i took Joshua's hand and lead him out of the room without another word. He followed without resistance, and we went down the corridor until we found a room free of rounded up survivors. "Mai?" He said. I leant against a wall, and then slid down to the floor. I leant my head in my hands. "Mai? What is it?" "I Dont know!" I cried. "I dont know..."

Somehow, and asking me to explain it would be like asking Leonard Nemoi to explain the complete philosophy of Logic (*I* knew it, but it's hard to explain), I just knew exactly what to do. My best guess was that this developing connection between Mai and I somehow influenced it.
I hugged her in my arms and then I put my head on her shoulder and I opened my mind to hers. Instantly hers was just as open to mine, and despite me not having telepathy as one of my powers, I swear I felt and knew her mind the same way she knew mine.
And I understood. I understood better than anyone else ever could. It was an incredibly intimate moment for both of us, too private to discuss, other than in the same way we would talk about sex, which neither of us was having in the near future. At least we weren't planning to.
When we pulled our minds back to each other, I slowly raised my head and looked into her eyes. We were both crying, but that couldn't be helped.
"Oh," I said understandingly, and that was that. We just held each other for a long while. Until we were interrupted.

"Sorry, to interupt," I said, walking up to them. "But me and Mai need to talk."
"About what?" Maya asked.
"The armour future you was wearing," I said. "I knokw where she got it."
"Where?"
"Me," the two of them just stared. "I was going to wait until this was all over, but I have armour exactly like what she was wearing in the vault back at the Dojo. Master Wong told me to guard it until I met 'the SLayer who was not' and give it to their 'other half'. The way you two were fighting back there..." I left teh sentance hang. I think they figured it out.

We just sat there, staring at our friend for over a minute. Finally, we disentangled ourselves from each other and got to our feet. I stretched the kinks out of my back while Mai just rolled her head around, doing the same thing I was for her neck.
"Don't you just hate prophecies?" she asked vaguely.
"Only the ones about the end of the world and the choice to either save it or destroy it," I answered honestly. "There are some prophecies I like. Like me prophesizing right now that by the time you and Nicki get back from your trip to the Dojo with Doc, a many-layered bowl of chocolate ice cream will be waiting as your reward."
"Ooo, I like that prophecy too," Mai cooed as she saddled me and gave me a kiss before turning around and heading to Nicki and the two of them leaving to find Doc, and then the three of them heading out, during the daylight hours, for the Dojo to get Nicki's armor.
Once they were gone, I went to the bathroom, and walked up to the mirror. Inscribing several runic sigils with my finger in the air around the mirror, I cast a spell upon it, and a moment later my true reflection had been replaced with the future me that I had said goodbye to not too long ago.
"Well?" he asked.
"They've left, just as predicted," I answered coldly. I didn't like this one bit, but if we were going to break the spell on the city we were going to have to do some things we normally wouldn't want to. "I trust that they'll be back at the scheduled time?"
"Unless there's some kind of interference, they'll be back in exactly six and a half hours. Be sure to have everything ready before then," my future self demanded.
"I will," I promised, and then made to wipe away the spell, reversing the motions of the sigils in the air. Just before the spell on the mirror disappeared completely, my future self said to me, "Don't worry. It'll all work out in the end."
Then it was just my true reflection in the mirror and I said to myself, "I hope you're right."

[Where's the birthday post? I like awkward moments!]
I asked a simple question, not realizing how much it could backfire. "When's your birthday?"

((you mean MY armour... nicki was never wearing armour))
Nicki Doc and I left the training centre, magical shields at the ready. "So... you know anything else about this prophecy thing then?" I asked Doc, "OR about the armour?"

"Well..." I looked into Tucker's eyes and I couldn't lie. "Ok ok I lied. I turned 16... 3 weeks ago." I waited, terrified, for his answer.

'Aw you're cute for a kid' I grinned 'You don't have to lie y'know, I mean I'll tell you right off I snore'
I blinked slightly not believing I had just said that
'Why did you think you had to lie bout your age?'
