Charlotte and I left the bar in silence, neither really sure what to say- we didnt know each other after all. "It's. erm, just down the block." I told her to try and break the ice. "Great." She said, though i felt that it was more for the sake of saying something. She seemed about to say more, but cut herself off- i smirked- i knew exactly what it was like to be the new girl in town- and hey, Del may have killed her mum, but she didn't offer her a glass of acid when they met. Eventually, Charlotte said, "Thanks." Rather ubruptly. "For?" "For letting me stay... i know i didn't exactly make the best first impr..." But again she was cut off, suddenly ducking to the side... out of the way of a huge fist. "Whoa!" I cried, kicking the thing in the side without even waiting to see what it was. The huge demon roared, and threw me against a wall, up beside Charlotte. "You." Charlotte said bitterly. "Me." It said, almost lovingly. Its eyes flickered over me, "Leave, slayer- this does not concern you." I shrugged, sighing, cos that toss really did hurt, and this guys was huge, but i knew my answer, "Yeah... thats not gonna happen." To say he didnt look pleased would be the understatement of the year....

"Seriously Maya, go. You don't have to stay." I really didn't want to fight this guy again-I hadn't come off that well before- but it was my fight, no matter how tough it might be, particularly when I was drained of energy. I looked at Maya who was still standing there, not showing any sign of moving. "Go." I said again with more urgency, I knew this would be tough and there was no need for any one else to get hurt on my account-shows how little I knew about Maya. "Nah...gotta fight the good fight." She was grinning- funny I didn't feel like smiling. I suddenly felt pretty small, not to mention cornered with my back up against the wall. "least it means no one can come up behind you." Maya suddenly said and I twisted my head fractionally to look at her. "Oh...right...telepath." She explained flippantly, still grinning. Just then though a massive shadow fell over us and I looked upwards to see a dark figure flying over the wall from behind us. I just looked at Maya whose grin shifted to a sheepish smile and shrug. I shook myself, slightly freaked by more than one thing that had just happened. We were being surrounded by more demons and I had a horrible feeling of deja vu, only usually it was only me against the bad guys- I wasn't sure I liked having someone else to worry about. With feigned cockiness I opened the banter, slowly revealing a silver blade I knew the leader would recognise. "You just keep coming back for more don't you big fella." He took the bait and in unison the demons launched themselves at us. The adrenaline rushed as I knew it would and my exhaustion dissipated as I brandished the gleaming point of my trusty weapon. I'd expected the leader to go straight for me but insead he swung at Maya's head. She ducked his first punch but the second one landed on her cheek snapping her head to the side so I couldn't see her face and sending her to the ground. "Maya if you can't take it, scram, beat it." I yelled.

I flipped back to my feet, a wild and i'm sure pretty disturbing grin on my face. I raised an eyebrow at Charlotte, "Oh i have every intention of beating it." I assured her, and returned the demon's punch. He didn't bother to block, expecting that it would do him no harm- he was wrong, and howled in inhuman pain. Charlotte gaped at me. I chuckled, "You want Spiney? I'll play with the minions." I leapt into the midst of the demon crowd around us, and smiled almost seductively, "Hey boys."
((anyone can join in here, there're plenty of demons to go around!))

((Yay! Fight scene!))
Two demons dropped as a glaive sliced through their necks. I caught the bladed bommerang, transforming it into a slightly better close combat weapon.
"Is this a private party, or can any schmoe crash?" I asked. "And didn't anyone tell you boys it's not nice to hit ladies? Especially ones that hit back," as if to put an exclamation point on the comment, Maya ran into them like an out of control Mini Cooper, with a lot more force.
((No offence, Mai, but you're not big enough to be a Semi Trailer or a freight train.))

((lol s'ok Doc.)) I got the feeling that the minions hadn't been expecting much retaliation, "Have you guys never heard of a slayer?" I asked, shaking my head, "Minions," I called to Doc, "Have the brains of cabbages." Each word punctuated by a punch, kick, or elbow. I didn't even have my Katana out- i was in the mood for a proper fight. I knew that Charlotte was a little bewildered by my skill, but she seemed to tune us out as she herself faced off against the leader, who i presumed was a pretty nasty blast from the past. I hauled a demon over my head, and glanced around, to see that Doc had just finished his latest opponent. "Yo Doc!" I yelled, tossing the Demon over his way...

"Fast Food!" I cried, slicing the incoming demon in half. "When will these guys learn? Hey!" I exclaimed as one particular demon grabbed me in a sleeper hold. "One...at...a...TIME!" I managed to flip the creep over my shoulder, into his buddy that was coming towards me. "Brains of cabbages? That's an insult to cabbages everywhere."

I think rather than my brandished fists, it was my bubbling laugh right then that scared the demons close by, but, as a tribute to Doc's words, i knew that these idiots weren't going anywhere until their boss triumphed or fell.

"Never fear, the Nixster is here!"
I held out my hand and managed to shatter a few demons as I noticed the looks
"What? You know I love a good nickname just as much as a good entrance"

((To Joshua. It's right after newcomer-basically we were attacked on the way home from the bar)) I was barely aware of anyone else after I began fighting. I had first met this demon in Japan last year and it hadn't ended well for either of us. I killed his minion, he killed the closest thing I had to a friend. Afterwards he seemed to follow me; disappearing for weeks then showing up again. Each time we fought he would hurt me and I would hurt him but neither of us had yet killed the other...I badly wanted that to change. Unfortunately it looked like this time my wish might be coming true-only the wrong way around.

I stood in the entrance to the bar for a few moments, watching the exchange and then the ensuing fight. For the first time in a good while (half a century at least) I found myself showing some restraint. Would she really want me, the demon who turned her mother, to help out in a fight? Better question: why did I care? It was a little confusing.
It took a few seconds, but I decided to just get on with it. Fighting was fighting, and we'd already had our little heart to unbeating-heart - I was on her side. I pulled out my sword and decapitated a demon near Doc.
"Nead a hand?" I questioned, smirking.
"No," he replied easily, skewering another demon.
I mock-glared. "Since when is this about your needs?"

I chuckled, grinning at Del. I watched Charlotte out of the corner of my eye- She was definitely skillful, but something told me this fight wasn't going her way. [If you need help, all you gotta do is ask... or scream] I told her mentally. She looked shocked, but didn't let it distract her.

I was determined not to ask for help-I'd managed damn well on my own for a long time and just 'cause these people were kinda...different?...nice? didn't mean I had to weaken myself. So I didn't answer Maya's voice in my head (something I will never get used to I swear.) Instead I carried on trading blows, increasingly aware that the number of fighting figures was rapidly increasing. I looked up to see Doc skewer a demon and saw also Aredhel. I blinked, I didn't understand why she was there, why any of them were still there. "Go. Guys get lost." I yelled but no one left. I stood stock stll for a second staring at the fighting figures but in my moment of confusion I forgot to pay attention and I paid dearly for it as a long talon pierced my side. "Shit." I gasped but struggled to stay on my feet-I had already filled my lifetime's ration of passing out that day. I brandished my blade again but feebly and as the demon advanced I decided to shelve my pride and I screamed.

"Thats my cue." I murmured. Snapping the neck of the demon i was wrastling with, i leapt at the leader, my Katana materialising in my hand half way. When i landed on his back, the sword slid satisfying into his shoulder. He cried out in anger, and ripped me off his back, "LEAVE!!" He bellowed. "So... a tough little bugger then." I said, ignoring the pain that filled my body from the impact with the ground. I flipped up again, and grinned at the demon, "Lets dance." I said. He swung, I ducked, I swept at his feet with my leg. He stumbled, but didn't fall. "Weebles wobble..." I breathed in annoyance. I exploded upwards, jabbing the katana into him again. He bled, but didn't crumble. "You do not understand what you fight." He said. "Yeah yeah, they all say that." I quipped. "You are weak." "You dont have a clue!" I punched him in the face, and dodged several more blows, my speed being my main advantage. He knocked the sword from my hand, and it clattered to the ground. "Hey!" I yelled angrily. He grabbed me round the neck, slamming my against the wall and sticking his face right up to mine. "You have no power over me, little girl. You needn't have been involved here- now you will merely die along with her." "No power? Dude, i kicked your ass." I told him, though it was a little hard to breath, "And i didn't even use magic." I smiled sweetly as i magically retrieved my sword. The hilt came first, in my hand, and the rest followed, extending right in up from the abdomen and though the heart of the demon. He looked vaguely shocked as he lost his grip on me and toppled backwards. I yelped as i dropped to the ground, and quickly moved to slide out my sword incase the demon melted or some such thing. I grinned breifly, then ran to Charlotte.

I stared blearily at Maya. "You ok?" She asked me quickly but I didn't answer. "hey Charlie, you ok?" She repeated. "What the hell did you do that for?" I snapped, not noticing the look of surprise on her face. "That was my fight." "Yeah 'cause you wouldn't have ended up dead by now." Maya responded. "I should go." I said, realising I had been stupid to try and get on with these 'people'. I tried to stand up and gasped in pain, the stab wound must have been deeper than I thought. I tried again but the pain was crazy, and my tolerance was damn high. I put my fingers to my side and when I pulled them away they were dripping in blood. I stared at them for a second then looked upwards at the victorious demon fighters, standing with a variety of looks on their faces.

That was a lot of blood. And when one was in the company of a vampire, blood was not a good thing. Not at all. I resheathed my sword, looking away for a moment. It did no good; I could still smell it. And I knew it was worse, because I'd tasted the blood before, through her mother. I could remember it vividly, and with a weapon like that, my demon was gaining strength. Something needed to be done.
"Maya," I snapped, knowing she could feel my struggle through the mental link we shared. "I think it's time to break out the healing mojo."
