I felt my blood run cold.
"A test?" I said, "By who? For what?" I could feel Aila jsut outside... she was distressed, she needed to talk, buti had to have this conversation first. I had to know what was going on.
[Give me a minute Aila.] I called mentally
Aila stopped with her hand an inch from the door, and frowned,
"She doesnt want to be disturbed."
"Huh? How do you know?" Ben asked.
"She just... I know, ok. We can wait."

One of the shadows in the room began to ripple as we walked towards it. I gave Maya a reassuring smile. "Stick close. Don't wander too far away, whatever you do."

I tightened my grip as we walked through the shadow, entering the Shadow Realm, creatures of ebon black moving around us like a sea, though never getting too close as we came to a stop on the crystal platform. "Welcome to the shadows, Mai," I said. "This is why we exist. Within the darkness are billions of Shadow Demons. Each one exists for a single purpose: Chaos. If they were to escape, we wouldn't have to worry about Hellmouths. Man would detroy itself. Brother against Brother, husband against wife...Utter, total destruction."

I found myself shaking, my mind reeling.
"Mai?" Doc said, concerned.
"I... I know this..." I murmured, "I remember something about this... but i cant... remember it..." I shook my head, "I... this is why Josh and I were taken.... something to do with this... UGH why cant i remember!?"
