"The only thing that is useless 'round here is the plastic covering on this Edam." I complained "What!" I said as everyone turned to stare at me.

"Er, right," I said. "Bottom line, Jess, you say one more thing about being useless and I'm dragging your ass into the Dojo for a boot camp session. A sx month long session. Got it?"

"Since the bad guys seem to have all the power, you have to crazy to fight them, right?" I pointed out. Trex thought a moment.
"Good point."

"Jess?" I moved to face her, lifting her face to see tears running down her face. "You alright, girl?"

"Over here, kiddo," I said. "I think... oh yeah, i knew I saw this," I presented one in particular, a diary of which I had a copy off in my Library. "There's only two copies I know of. I have one. I didn't even know this one survived. It's the diary of a shifter tha befriended a Slayer centuries ago. Like I said, I've got a copy, but," I slipped some cash across to mai. "Maybe you should have a copy. Ya'know, a spirit lifter."

"Doc" I leapt upon him, carefully not hitting the book. "Thank you thank you!"

"You're welcome, you're wlecome," I chuckled, hugging her back. This was much more like it. Happy, energetic, Energizer Bunny Jessy. I hated when she got into these 'I'm useless' moods she got in lately, no matter what I did. Maybe that diary will help.

I settled myself in a chair and began to read. It was strange, peering into the life of someone who'd lived centuries ago. It was very different from a watcher's diary. The entries weren't a chore, they were a passion.
