I caught up to her just as she flew off.
"Jessy!" I yelled. "Son of a..." I looked around, climbing up a nearby fire escape and leapt across the roof tops of LA, trying to catc her. Stupid yeah, but I had to catch her. This was my fault after all.

I turned my head to see Doc climbing across the roofs of LA. Well bloody let him climb I thought. Who cares? I dived towards the ground, pulling up and shifting inches from the ground.

"Oh for..." I growled. I leapt from teh roof, landing on a semi that was driving past, then from their to a sedan, then to the ground. I looked around, knowing I wasn't that far from where Jessy had landed. "Jess?"

I slammed the door of my appartment before locking it and jumping on the bed.

"You really stuffed up this time, didn't you?"
"Yeah, yeah, smart guy," I muttered. "Where is she?"
"Her apartment. She's upset. Real upset. It may take more than you to cheer her up."
"Gotta try," I muttered, heading to Jessy's. "Like you said, this is my fault."

"Jessy," said an all too familiar voice. "You really should talk to Doc. You overreacted." My head jerked up. I gave a forced smile.
"Oh really."
"Yes." How I hated that voice.
"Well, maybe you should shut up now." I pulled the plug on my computer.

"Hello?" I said into my mobile phone. I was hoping it was Jessy.
"She's not in a talkative mood, Doc," Mal said.
"She's got a thing lately," I said, running up into her building. "I'll try and talk to her."
"I didn't mean to upset her," Mal said apologetically.
"It's alright, I'll talk to her," I said, hanging up as I got to her door. Locked. I pulled out my lockpick and hoped she wouldn't take off before I got in there. Please, stay there, Jess, I prayed silently.

I picked up a small sound coming from the door. It was metalic a clicking sort of.. I froze. Someone was picking the lock. I shifted quickly. Whoever it was would have to deal with a panther.

"jessy..." I began as i opened the door...
...And got leapt on by a seriously upset Panther.
"Jessy, easy!" I yelled as I landed on the groud, Jessy growling above me.
"Doc?"
"I figured you wouldn't open the door if I knocked," I said with an uneasy grin. "So, you getting off me, or am I panther chow?"

"Depends. Anything that could possibly contain Mal on you?" I stepped aside to show a pile of appliances without batteries or their plugs pulled out.

"Tough," I said, sitting on the bed. She was ready to run, i knew it. I also knew, or thought I knew, what was going on. I hoped I was right. "I'm not trying to replace you Mai, God, that's the last thing on my mind. You're one of the best things that's happened to me in years, I couldn't do that to you. But I can't be at teh Dojo 24/7. I can't look after everything, and the old system, no matter how secure, could be hacked. A bad thing, trust me."
"And Mal can't?" She snapped.
"I didn't say that," I said. "But it'd be like trying to get into my mind. By the time they got close, Mal could have tracked them down and called the cops, or me. He isn't a researcher, he merely knows where all the books and scrolls are stored. And he's the only reminder of Jasmine I've got left, and her best work. Sometimes not even I can tell whether he's human or not.
"Jessy, I know your suspicious, I guess I don't blame you. But, please, can't you give him a chance. Please?"

"Fine, he's got a chance. But I don't want him to talk t me. Ever." I turned from Doc and pulled up a floor board of my room. I pulled out a few books. "You might want these back. I borrowed them from the Dojo."

"Keep'em," I said, looking at the titles. "I've got two copies. He's only trying to help, Jess. I know, I should have told you guys about him, but, well...he was early."
"Early?" Jessy asked. I shrugged.
"He downloaded himself a week early," I said. "Then proceeded to upgrade the firewalls. No one's getting in there. But I'll tell him to keep his voice down when your around. Just don't expect him to step aside if you need help, 'kay?"
"Why?" Jessy asked curious. I looked a bit uncomfortable.
"I, uh, told him a bit about you guys," he said. "You know what you said earlier? About him being my cyberson?"
"Yeah."
"Well, you know I think of you as my daughter, right?" I continued. "Well, he knows that too and, kinda...sorta...adopted you as his sister," Jessy stared at him. "That's why what you said hurt him so bad."
(((Sorry Jess. ;D)))
