"It's okay, sis," I whispered gently. "I'm here. It's alright," silently, I sent a message to Avalon via her Soul Sword to get Josua over here, even if she had to drag his ass over. Maya needed him now more than ever and there was no way in hell I was letting him turn her away.

It took her a while to find him. Apparently he'd been camping out in teh Library after hours. It wasn't hard getting in.
"Shu, what are you doing?" She asked, looking at her brother. He looked up from his book.
"Studying," he mumbled, looking back at his book. "What's up?"
"Doc sent me," Avalon said. "He needs you..."
"I'm sure it'll be fine," Joshua muttered. Avalon looked at him a moment before doing something she'd hadn't thought necessary.
"Up," she ordered, yanking him by the collar. "Get your things. We're going back to Maya's place."
"I thought you said Doc..."
"Yes. He does," Avalon said. "He needs you back at your girlfriends side so you can explain to her that you don't blame her for happened before she allows it to get her killed."
"She..." he began. He then settled back down to his books.
"Joshua?" Avalon began. "You don't..."
"I don't know," Joshua whispered. "Who is to blame? Should I have done something? Checked over the wards. Maybe she should have made them stronger. I just..."
"I have had enough of this," Avalon hissed, grabbing the book and flinging it across the Library. "We are loosing her, Joshua. Not just you, all of us. Doc especially. He is loosing the sister he never knew because you 'do not know'. I suggest you figure it out, Joshua. Because if you do not, it is going to kill her. And that will be your fault," Joshua looked up at her momentarily .
"I...what am I doing?" he muttered, gathering his things. "I need to get back there."
"Yes," Avalon confirmed. "You do. I will wait for you. I suggest you hurry. She has had a rough night."

I just clung to him, willing my legs to support me, choking huge sobs and all the while thinking how pathetic i was- i was the one who had screwed up- did i even have the right to cry? I was shaking violently by then, Doc's strong embrace all that was holding me up.

"Come on," I whispered. "Let's get you to bed," we moved into her room. I hoped Avalon hurried up with Joshua. She needed him right now.

They appeared in the alleyway next to Maya's apartment, Joshua ran into the building the second they had. Avalon followed, not quite as quick, but not loosing sightof her broher.
"Maya?" Joshua yelled as he entered the room. "Doc? You guys here?"
"Her room, mate," came the reply. Joshua moved in quickly, seeing the Slayer, his Maya, sobbing pitifuly into her brothers arms.
"I'll take her," teh ex-Time Wizard said, taking his girlfriend from teh arms of his friend. "It's okay, Mai. I'm here now. I'm here."

Relief flooded through me, not washing away the guilt but at least drowning it for a while. I wrapped my arms around him and leant into his embrace, my senses going wild at the sensation of simply- Joshua. His smell, his mind, the feeling of his arms around me... Since all this happened, i knew i had been searching for some way to console myself... who'd have thought it was so close by?
"Ssh." He whispered over and over, holding me tight and stroking my hair gently, "It's ok, ssh, its ok."

"Um.... Pepper?" I said, "Some people just ran in there... do you think they might need help?"
"What?" She frowned, glancing to the door, then she smiled, "Oh, no no, that was Joshua and Avalon."
"Who?"
"Maya's boy friend and his sister."
"So... why do you think they were in such a hurry?" I asked.

I looked at them a moment with a sad smile. A moment I could never again share with...
"Take care of them, Pendragon," I said, my voice sounded gravely. "Don't let 'em walk all over you because their all weepy and shit?"
"Are you alright?" She asked.
"I'm fine," I lied. "I've just got some people I need to drop home."

"It's a long story" I sighed "And they might not appreciate me telling people." I felt my dagger at my side. The one that told me when shifters were around. It was...er...glowing. "Thats odd" I frowned.

I exited the building, a slightly forlorn look on my face. Forlorn as in dragging on the cement.
"She okay?" Pepper asked, looking a mite uncomfortable herself. Hm.
"Yeah," I said, getting in teh car. "Joshua'll look after her now. Where do you want to be dropped off Peps. "Then I'll take Vala to the Dojo. Plenty of room," and maybe Mal'll have some clue as to why she seems... I don't know. Just seems.
