"You're skipping into a street race half way through to get me to loosen up?" I raised my eyebrows, but certainly didnt smile, "You really have cracked." I sat back and watched the world whizz past in a blur of colour.

"It was worth a shot," I said, hitting the Juice button and movng away from teh cars. I'd probably pay for that later. Oh well.
"That was also the quicest way to your apartment," I added as we pulled up fifteen minutes later. "And i wasn't going to take the long way because Frankie was set it up."

I turned to Vala and the newly arrived Pepper. "Stay," i said getting out of the car and catching up to Maya.
"What are you doing?" She asked.
"Making sure you don't do anything stupid like an extra patrol," I said in the exact same tone.

I rolled my eyes,
"I'm not a child." I said.
"I know." He replied simply, but kept walking. When we got to my door, i opened it and raised my eyebrows at him as he stood there.
"What?" I asked. "Im going in- look!"
He chuckled.
"Are you ok?" He asked.
"FIne." I said, "I just freaked a little, but now i'm fine."
He narrowed his eyes at me, and said,
"Well get some sleep. Good night."
"Night." I said, watching as he turned away. Then quickly, i said, "Doc?"
"YEah?" He turned back.
"Have you..." I paused, biting my lip, "Have you, by any chance.... talked to Josh of late?"

I woke up on the counter in the Spot. I had had a hard time getting to sleep lately. So I'd pretty much fall asleep anywhere. "Where's everyone gone?"

"Its nothing." I said, even knowing myself that it came out way too fast. "Night Doc."
But he stopped me,
"Mai?"
I turned back to him, unable to hold eye contact with him.
"It's just... Since... since what happened... We've... well, its been hard. We've barely spoken. I spend my time patrolling or in the shop, and he spends his time at school.... And it feels like maybe... maybe..."
I sighed, not looking at him at all now, "Maybe our connection... it feels like what we had has be taken along with our child. I feel like i've lost him too." I finished quietly, finding it painfully hard to voice my thoughts.

"Of course i still love him." I murmured, leaning my head against Doc's shoulder as he held me, "But I... what if... I feel horrible even saying this... but what if he blames me? I told him my apartment was safe! I told him over and over that no harm could come to her in that apartment..." My voice cracked a little, "I failed, Doc! I failed and because of that we lost Aila AND Charlie!"

"Im friggin telepathic!" I cried, beating against his chest, trying to push him away as tears once again came to my eyes. But he held on tight, and in moments i was just sobbing into his embrace. "Im so sorry." I cried, "Goddess i'm so sorry..."
