I looked up into Doc's eyes, and i felt so weak, so small, so... pathetic. I shook my head slightly,
"That girl... we have to help her. She came here for help."
He frowned at me, clearly wondering how i knew.
"We cant let all this..." I choked another sob even as i tried so hard to keep myself together, "We have to... she's so... innocent... we cant let all that has happened to us happen to her."

"We will," I said. "But for the moment, my prime concern is you."
"But..." she began.
"I'll get you to the car," I said, cutting her off. "Then I'll get Vala. It's her choice if she comes, I'm not forcing her. She can stay in the spare rooms connected to the Dojo. Mal can watch her. Okay?"

I nodded slowly,
"Ok..." I agreed reluctantly. To be truthful i didnt want her to see me like this anyway. Again i wasnt sure why, but i was suddenly utterly certain that i could not let her see me broken like this. I let Doc lead me to the car, supporting me as my crappy eating habits of late were finally catching up with me.
As he helped me into the car, I kept a hold of him a second longer. I forced a smile,
"Thank you." I said, "I dont know what i'd do without you bro."

"You'd porbably be leaning on Joshua right now," I joked, winning a small smile from Maya. "You wait here, 'kay, sis?"
"'Kay." Was the answer. I re-entered the Spot and walked up to the gang.
"What happened?" Pepper asked.
"There was some problems outside," I said. "She took care of it, but she's a bit shaken up. She's alright, but I'm taking her home," I turned to Vala. "I have a spare room if you want it. I won't force you, but you need somewhere to stay. I have rooms."

He met me only minutes ago, and yet he is offering me a place to stay?
They were right- these people have great hearts- they will help me.

I nodded,
"Thanks." I smiled at the others, "It was nice to meet you all." They all smiled and said goodbye, and Doc ushered me out of the bar. When we reached the car, Maya was sitting in the back, looking away from the window as if to avoid my gaze. Doc opened the front passenger door, and i got in without question.

This wasn't going to be a fun trip. I needed to cheer these two up.
I checked my Blackberry ((portable email)) for messages. One from Frankie, wasn't far from here either.
"Who want's to take the scenic route?" I said, getting into hte car. they'd either kill me or cheer up. If it was teh latter, the risk of the former was well worth it.

I glanced round at Maya, but she merely avoided my gaze, so i shrugged,
"Ok..." I said, unsure and glancing at the slayer again, "I guess that'd be ok."

I liked this new girl, and I was not just gonna let her tour the area without me. I shifted into a flying horse, reduced myself to bat size and flew away until I reached the car window.

I smiled as we turned a corner, straight past a bunch of guys in a ute. Alright, now if Frankie email was right, the track should go right past...
I smiled as a pack of brightly painted cars drove past. I floored the accelerator as i pulled up behind them. Vala looked a bit nervous.
"Welcome to the nightlife in LA that won't kill you," I said with a smile. Now, even Maya was paying attention.
"Doc, what are you doing?" She asked.
"Just trying to get you two to loosen up. You're way to tense."
