"Speaking of time," I shot off, speeding down the hallway. I returned a few minutes later , arms ful of junkfood. "Sugar rush time."

"Now push." I was instructed and I did, using every muscle I had voluntary control over (and some i was sure I'd never used before). "Good. That's good." I relaxed slightly, taking huge gulps of air.
"You're doing great Charlie." Doc said, having slipped back in withhout me noticing.
"Is it supposed to be the most painful thing ever even if you're doing it right?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"Pretty much." He replied smiling.
"We would give you an epidural but you're so far along that it would be pointless now." The midwife said.
"What? So far along? I thought it took ages for a baby to be born?" I spluttered.
"Yours isn't going to hang around, I think I can see the head...yep big push..."

"Charlotte, not far now," I said.
"It feels like miles!" She said through grit teeth.
"It's almost there," I assured her. "One more..."

And then all of a sudden it was over.
"You have a girl." The midwife said and offered Doc the scissors to cut the umbilical cord. "Congratulations."
I looked at the tiny creature in her arms, it was covered in blood and muck still but she held the baby towards me so I could see it before it was taken away to be weighed and washed.
"Oh." was all I managed to say before she was whisked away.
"Isn't she gorgous." Doc breathed but I didn't answer. From everything i had heard i thought I would automatically fall in love with my baby once it was born but to be perfectly honest...i didn't feel anything.

Ashley walked into the waiting room from one of the docter's offices, talking to the docter, wearing a cast on her right arm. "Now please remember..." Ashley cut him off. "Yeah yeah I know. This cast is not a weapon, but a healing object. Do not get it wet, and do not stick things into it when my arm itches. Can I go now?" He sighed in defeat. "I have no other reason to keep you. Make an appointment in the next six to eight weeks so we can see how your arms doing." "Okay. Later dude." Ashley turned and shook her head. "Why can't they just say about 7 weeks?" Then she saw Jessy and Rogue and a whole bunch of people she's never seen before ((I don't think Ash has met the scoobys)). "Hey guys! What are you doing here?"

Ashley eyed the half eaten snacks. "Are you hyper because your getting a sibling, or because of all that suger?" She smiled. "That's great that your getting a little sister."

"I don't know yet." I replied. "I was kind of pre-occupied with getting it out of me to think about names. I guess we're going to have to think about that." Damn I was tired. Names were the last thing I wanted to think about except possibly...
"Bonding time." The midwife called out cheerfully as she returned witht the baby who still looked incredibly pink and scrawny. "Whoa what are all these people doing in here?" She asked in surprise.
"They're family." I replied tiredly. "Can't we do the bonding thing in the morning? I really just want to go to sleep."
Maya looked worried, Jessy upset and the midwife surprised.
"You really should at least hold her now and give her a feed before going to sleep."
"F-f-feed." I spluttered, i had forgotten all about that as well. "Oh G-d." She placed the baby in my arms and I awkwardly tried to get it comfortable but it was bawling. "Doc?" I said nervously. "Doc, what do I do?" It was so strange. Before the disasterous episode with Aila I had loved holding her, playing with her, anything and we had managed just fine. Now though...nothing felt more awkward.
