"Why did they take him?" I asked the midwife. "They wanted to ask him some questions." She answered vaguely, "Now get ready to push." "Questions about what?" I persisted sure that she knew more. "About your injuries." "What injuries? I'm fine...oh..." I realised I still had the bruises. "They think he did this? They have to let him go, he didn't do anything." "Try and relax. They will talk to you once the baby is born and you can tell them whatever you need to." "I need to tell them now, he would never do anything like this." "Well the rate things are going it shouldn't be too long until you can talk to them. Now get ready..."

"It's alright, Jessy," I said. "The nirse saw Charlies bruises and called the cops. We'll clear it all up as soon as the baby's born."

"Well, it's good to know hospitals don't ignore stuff like that anymore," I smiled. "Sorry Dad, but your predicament has made me much more at ease."

"Gee, thanks," I said dryly. "I'm gonna head back in wth Charlotte," I glanced over at Rogue, who just nodded, and made my way back to the pregnant girl.

"They never would have wrked out anyway," I said offhandedly to Rogue, who had gone very quiet suddenly. Well, not suddenly. "There was the Watcher thing. It's too much of Charlie's history for her to let it go, and too much in Doc's past for him to really accept it."

I relaxed, satified that no violence or mind fiddling was necessary for the moment.

I wished I could go in the room, but, as per usual, was no blood relation to the patient, soon to be patients.

"Good to know I'm not alone, Auntie," I said, smiling at the Auntie. It seemed to imply someone at least in their late thirties.

"Huh." I said, having not considered this before, "Yeah, i guess... unless that labour goes on for a few more hours..." There was a yell from the room, "But thats doubtful." I winced.
