"Nothing is happening to that child, Doc." I snapped, "i dotn give a shit who knows, or what grudges they hold, no one and nothing is harming that baby."

I was fuming and physically shaking. I hadn't meant to get so worked up about it but the more i had said the more i realised how important it was to me that my kid kept the watcher line going, otherwise there was every chance the new council would fail after the first generation dies out.
"Calm down Charlie." Jessy said laying a hand on my arm, "You know this is a touchy issue."
"I know, i know." I said through gritted teeth. "It's just can't he see that his way allows no choice either. According to him there's not even the option of being a watcher."
"Deep breaths." Jessy instructed and i tried but gave up as another wave of arguments prepared to spill from my lips. At the last second though they were stopped as what came out instead was a gasp, driven by the wave of pain that felt like it was crushing my lower abdomen.
"Oh my G-d." I breathed. "Doc!" I called.
"I'm not arguing about it any more. He retorted back quickly. "We'll have to deal with it later but not now and..." He trailed off as he saw my starkly white face.
"Doc, I think the baby's coming." His glass shattered as it hit the floor and his jaw dropped.
"Now? But you said a couple of weeks."
"Babies don't come to order Doc, they don't have such great timing and birth can often be brought on early due to stress."
"Plenty of that around here." Maya muttered moving forwards to take charge.

"Just breath, charlie, breath, dont push or anything." I supported her and took charge. "jess, phone the hospital NOW. Tell them were on the way with a baby on the way. Aila, get a glass of water, Doc, get the car, now!"

"On it," I muttered, rushing outside. Shit, this was sooner than I'd expected. Was i ready...?"
'It's not the first time we've had a baby relying on us.'
"This is different," I muttered to my Sabre. "This kids mine," there was no answer as I leapt in and gunned the engine.

Charlie could barely walk as i supported her towards the door...
"Shit this is going to fast!" I cried. Could it be mystical? Neither of them really were, but who could tell now days? I let out a frustrated sigh and ordered, "Arms round my neck Charlie."
"But i can..."
"Now!" I picked her up and carried her out to the car. Thank goddess for slayer strength!

I helped Maya andCharlie get in the back before jumping inot the drivers seat. "We'll meet you at the hospital," I said, locking eyes with Rogue. She nodded as I outhe 'I love you' and then I gunned the car as fast as i could without making things worse.

"Would you slow down!" Maya screeched. "Are you trying to scare this baby out of her?"
"I drive at two speeds, Maya," I shot back. "Fast and 'what teh f*** was that'. You know that. she knows that. Quit complaining, she's almost there."
"DOC I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" Charlie screamed between breaths.
"You're just saying that to make me feel better!"
