(((Thankee Maya)))
The possibilities were endless. I could teach it languages, we could learn new ones together. But no way was I changing nappies. Doc could deal with that issue. But I could babysit. I could get paid for babysitting.

"What are you thinking?" Amy asked Jessy as she watched a look of excitment, discust and then excitment again.

There was something going on that i was missing. i had been away a long time but I still recognised when Maya was communicating silently. Doc looked as pensive ans she did anxious and i wondered what was wrong, whether I had done anything more that was bad. 'Only way to get answers is to ask' i told myself. "Is there something wrong Doc?"

"Babies. Nappies. A little bro or sis," I said honestly, looking at Charlie with a puzzled look. What? Why was she asking Doc that?

"Doc?" I repeated ignoring Jessy. "What did I do?" He sighed. "Charlie no child of mine is going to be a watcher." Ok. Should have thought about that, but couldn't take it back now. "Doc its in the baby's blood. They are from a watcher line, there's nothing that can change that." "It's not like slayers." Doc exclaimed. "It's not like it'll be bound to it, ther are other watchers, my child will not become one." "You can't say that." I retorted. "Being a watcher is a job that my family has had as far back as anyone knows, you can't just wipe that out."

"Whoa, guys, guys!" I cried, holding my hands up, "Woulda cool it? The kid's not even born yet! Maybe it'll be a Cortina demon- they, by definition cant be watchers!" I laughed half heartly and sighed, "That didnt help, did it?"

"Not really." I snapped. I wondered how the watcher issue had never been a huge issue before now but was too far in to back out. "Can't you at least accept that maybe it'll want to be a watcher?" I yelled at Doc then in the same breath turned to Maya and said, "And no more jokes about baby demons its damn scary enough even hoping its human."

"Both of you stop it. Theirs a new council thats not like the old council so if the baby decides to be a watcher then it wouldn't be a bad idea," I snapped at them both. This was suposed to be a party and no fighting well be going on.

"Sounds like the kids not getting that choice," I said quietly, though loud enough to be heard. "Sounds like it's just getting forced. Like the old days."

I sighed, rolling my eyes. "The child well have a choice. So please stop arguing. The poor child hasn't even been born yet."

"We'll see," I said, looking at Charlotte shortly. "I'm hungry, getting something to eat," I moved quickly to the food. Before I said something stupid.

Amy nodded to Jessy. "Changing nappies isn't fun. Had to help mom with my little brother. Never change baby boy's nappies. They spray."
I shook my head at Doc and glanced around.

"Yeah whatever." 'No child of mine will ever be a watcher.' What about me? I wanted to be one, without the killing and stuff, which their wasn't meant to be any of anymore. I liked the reading, the training, being able to guide someone through life. So this time, I was siding with Charlie. Even though I wasn't meant to.

"Doc?" I said quietly, joining him at the buffet table. He didnt reply. I put an arm around him, "Bro... Rogue is right... the council isnt what it used to be... I mean, for one, Giles is practically in charge... and... Doc... you know what Jessy is like..." He stiffened. "I'm jut saying... dont make decisions in anger on things that have changed alot since your opinions were formed, ok?"
