Doc stopped at the bedroom door, looking back at her. "Who said I wrote that?" he said. "That's a combination of police files, Council, and the guy who trained. And Mal. He kind of insisted. Only fair, he said. Of course, if you don't want a reason to trust me, by all means, walk out, leave it there. I'll probably be gone in a few weeks anyway. Easier to forget."

I stared at him openly. "You really have lost all perspective on the whole idea of trust, haven't you? It's all about what you do, not what you say. So if you're leaving, don't waste your time either way, because I don't care. Funny, never thought I'd trust a vampire more than a human. But then, she's a lot more human than you, isn't she? Ironic, I'm sure." I opened the door and walked through it quickly, resising the urge to slam it shut.

He shrugged before closing the door to his room. Maybe she was right. Maybe he had lost perspective.
But trust wasn't something he'd ever give out. Not with how easy it was to break it.
Not now. Not ever.
