"Yeah, easy to be someone's body guard when you just leave them to get their wrists broken and then raise demons around them," I returned, moving to the door. I was counting on mess, and mess I got. Rummaging in the pile of fast food menus that had clearly just been kicked to the side whenever they came through the door, I pulled out a decent lookin chinese menu. "Tell me that you at least forked out for a phone bill. And give me the number while you're at it."

"So picky about your food," she pointed out as she watched the exchange between the shifter and the talented. She stepped forward to lean against the counter crossing her arms.

"Hey, need I remind you that you got me the job cause you DIDN'T want someone following you around," he pointed out, tossing her the slightly beat up second hand cordless phone. "I'm guessing cause of the 'One Girl Petting Zoo'?"

"How on earth did you guess my stage name?" I replied sarcastically, punching in the numbers before waving the menu in his face rather wildly. "Is there anything you want particularly, or is food good enough for you?" After seeing the pockets, I could hardly call his taste discerning.

"Food works," he said, snatching the menu out of his hand. "Thoug there must be dim sims, or there will be violence. Well, not violence, but at least a dangerous tickling."

"You know, tickling your boss is considered bad form," Rogue pointed out as she watched the two banter with each other from her spot against the counter.

"Er..." Doc said, thinking, though there was an almost mocking smile on his face. "Send her back to mummy dear?" He chuckled at that. klnowing it would get to Jessy. He really needed to introduce her to Mal. Coudl be fun watching ehr pump him for information.

I glared at the enfuriating man as I rattled off the order quickly, using my rather limited but food-oriented knowledge of Chinese. It seemed to work well enough and I hung up the phone ready for some good food. "Out of interest did you see me turn into a large panther and rip the heads off some vampires? Because the cracks suggest not, and it really is a sight to be seen. Or in your case, experienced."

"Now you see how annoying he can get," she replied with a shrug. "He's rather good at it." She felt better knowing that it wasn't just her finding him rather annoying.
((I SO typed BETTA instead of BETTER. Thankfully I caught it. XD ))

"Clearly. If only he had other talents," I replied, rolling my eyes, "Instead of friends who go by the name Wizard, like something out of Oz. I don't suppose you're a true friend of Dorothy are you?" I asked Doc, turning to him with a quirked eyebrow.

Doc laughed at her. He couldn't help it, the thought of saying something that was basically doubting Mal's abilities to find things was damnably funny. Maybe he should just prove her wrong...
"Jessica Jackson, 19 years old, shifter, which incidently is a demon half breed," he said quickly, rattling off facts Mal had given him when he'd asked for a look up. "Mother left to marry a milionaire, I won't go into your father," there was a look of sadness on his face, almost wishing he'd had that situation. At least he'd still have parents. "Best friend by the name of Rory... anything else? I don't want to spill EVERYTHING," he shrugged. "I was curiour. And Mal tends to random when you give him something interesting. Sorry."

"Well, that was invasive," Rogue pointed out, giving him a glare. People should be allowed their secrets and the fact that that fact seemed to escape Doc was rather annoying. "You felt that was appropriate why?" A good chunk of what he had said was easy information to find out but the fact that he had it down pat was almost stalkerish.
((Love, tone down the over powerfulness of knowledge. Don't make me place a rule where any convo between characters needs to be posted about or else they simply don't know it. Cause this whole connection to vast knowledge is starting to make me wonder if I shouldn't have shot the idea down.))

It got my goat, I'll admit, and I couldn't help myself, I really couldn't. The way he did that, trivialised my life down to a few facts, well, it was just enfuriating. More than that - it pissed me off on a level I couldn't identify, and when I'd been trying to be nice. Clearly his one talent really was being annoying. I snarled and swung at the guy, feeling the claws beneath my skin just begging for release. "You do not screw with me, my friends, or my family, got it? When I want you to know anything, I tell you, and then you have to take me at my word, without fucking around in my personal history, or I swear to God you'll wake up in peices. And I'm no half-breed - you sound like a bloody watcher. Yeah, other people can figure out stuff too, ya know." I could feel the demon beneath my skin, in my eyes, streching them a little. "Stay the hell out of my personal history if you and Mal want to remain bipedal."

Quietly, he got to his feet. Yeah, okay, he'd gone a little too far. But he had a peace offering. Hopefully. And besides...
"You'll have to excuse me," he saidflatly. the watcher thing came a little too close to home for him. But he wasn't going to say he didn't deserve it. "I travel a lot. Meet a lot of... people. You'd be surprised what get's shoved into what category. And who betrays you when you least expect it. Never trust a person you barely know, never trust anyone. Rules I had to learn the hard way," he walked into his room, coming out with a folder and dropping it on the table. "That's me. Peruse at your leasure," he said, then turned back and walked into his room. Yeah, he'd gone to far. But he had his reasons.

I paused for a moment, loking at him skeptically. "Autobiographies written before the age of fifty are really tacky, so no thanks. And besides, as you said, I'd hve no idea if that was the real you, ince you're a person I barely know and even if we did save the world a few nights back God forbid if I deign to trust you." I rolled my eyes and walked towards the door, still a little tense. Nothing was easy with these people, clearly. "Maybe I'll see you around, but you can get your own food."
