"Cool," he said. "Who knows? I might be right."

"Ah, quit being so sceptical and gloomy," he said childishly. "What good is living hundreds of years if you can't find a hobby that doesn't include breaking people in half?"

"What good is movie watching compared to 'breaking someone in half?'"

"You dont' get his comrades/family memebers/significant other/fanboys/girls chasing after you?" He said glibly.

"I can usually take them on. If not the first time the next but I manage." I chuckled lightly looking over at him before getting an idea. "I think I have something in mind. Something you might like." There was a lake not far from here. Lake was a generous word. It was more like a large pond not a lake. Not very deep. One of the few natural bodies of water within LA. Dab in the center of a park. Served as a quiet retreat when I wanted to be away from the graveyard.
Upon approaching the 'lake' I sat close to the edge, but far enough away from it to ease old fears. It was a new moon tonight.

Doc looked around. "It's quiet," he said. "and a nice view," he sat down next to her, looking over the water. "You come here often?"

"I do sometimes. It's a nice place to go and think. Get away from all the busyness and the danger of my life." Looking at the water I sighed. "It's calming. I try to find places like this in every city I go to. My personal sanctuary."

Whoa. "It's pretty," he said. "Peaceful, too. I like it," he looked at her with a smile. "Thank you."

"For what?" I was a bit confused as well as a bit surprised at the sudden gratitude.

"Bringing me here," he explained. "You said this was your personal sanctuary, and you showed it to me. I appreciate that. It... gives me a look, I guess. A side i didn't know."

Understanding what he meant I gave him a nod before looking over the scape. "I'll always be an old world gal. I may not be well adjusted when it comes to your pop culture referances but I've come a long way from the person I was. I'll always be changing, growing. I wont be the same person a century from now. But I still like this, the quiet, a taste of where I come from in a world so different." As well adjusted as I was, I was still so out of place.

Maybe the movies wasn't what she needed. Maybe something like this. Not that there were a lot of places around LA that were this quiet, but...
"Remind me to try and do any future night club stake outs with you waiting outside," he said, laying back."

"Well, looking around, knowing you prefer this... I figure maybe it might be making you uncomfortable," he shrugged against the grass. "I don't mind playing bait. I prefer getting the drop on them with a sneak attack anyway."
