"It gets very boring at times, but part of me wont let go," she replied with a small nod. "So I am still here, haunting the earth until the time comes where someone or thing releases me." Until then though she planned on fighting. "Doesn't being 18 ever get boring? It's the same as everyday life it just goes on for centuries." It was both a blessing and a curse.

"Being 18 only occurs for one year though... but living without ageing would just continue, well, as you said, until someone ends it for you." Kyler replied, finding the concept a little odd. He had learnt about it in school, but had never really thought about it much more than that. "That's the funny thing about life, isn't it? Human survival, and let's face it, you ARE human, just... you know... not a living one... nevertheless, people tend to try to survive regardless of how hard it might get... it's in all living things I guess."
He began looking through other bits and pieces, though keeping one eye on the outside of the store, to see if there was anyone watching - partially because of their conversation - who knew who could be eavesdropping; and partially because of the sword he took from the other store.

"Thats a sorry word of a vampire, human. Vampires only strive to kill things. Destruction, and they revel in it," she said picking up a small trinket box that had the phases of the moon on it on one side and the sun on the other. It was hand carved and made of a light wood. Apple wood from the smell. A small little clasp held it shut but it was easy to open and empty. Deciding she liked it she saved it to purchase.
((Just a random box. Described the one I found at a thrift store the other day.))

"You say 'they', almost as if you see yourself as separate. You don't strive for the same things, do you? You keep it controlled?" Kyler enquired, not fully understanding why vampires would want to diminish their human traits, considering that they were as such beforehand... it was hard to understand why these people would WANT to be monsters.

"When a person becomes a vampire, their soul leaves their body, which is who that person is. What comes as the vampire is a demon. The demon is evil, no way around that. The demon wants to kill. One theory on why they like to rid themselves of their humanity is because they hate that they are trapped in a human's body," she replied. "And I am separate. I'm not human but I'm not quite a vampire either. I'm both and yet neither at the same time." It was something hard to explain to other people.
"Vampires feed on human blood and they see human's as nothing better then cattle but vampires on the demonic food chain, while still being dangerous, are on the lower end of the evil spectrum. Some vampires have made it to the top but overall still remain nusenses."

"I've heard of the presence of demons, but I never figured vampires to be demons. Perhaps it's because of this "lower end" you mentioned, people don't see them as demons cause they're not quite 'worthy' of the name... or something..." Kyler pondered out loud, "you said, though, that you're not quite one and not quite the other... so what are you... and how did you come to be the way you are?"
This was probably a conversation for somewhere else, hence why, as he spoke, Kyler slowly lead Rogue little by little, to the back end of the store, where people tended to venture to less, especially at night.

"That is actually a story for a different time," she said with a stern look that this was going to be the end of the subject. "I was a slayer, then I was a vampire, and I am now both. The specifics are not for people I've met twice."
"And what are you? Since you seem to keen on finding out things about my world, I should probably find out about yours,"

"Understandable." Kyler replied thoughtfully. His expression changed as he went on to the next topic, from thoughtful, to slightly saddened, but not too noticably so. "Me? I'm nothing really interesting. I'm kinda like Doc, cept... different, you know? He has this stuff called 'Talent'... it's like mana, or energy, that extends your body, allows you to do that little bit more than an average human can do... I kinda have the same thing, cept, it doesn't really work."
Kyler had a feeling he wasn't going to be able to reveal his "brokenness" to its fullest extent at this point in time... not because he didn't know Rogue all too well, it didn't really make a difference if he told her or not, the reality was he simply only had the attributes a normal human had anyway, regardless of if he told her or not... it was more the pain of reminding himself that he was broken.

"Huh," she replied. "Must be an odd feeling." She never really had that feeling. As a slayer she was powerful, more powerful then any human. As a vampire she had both strengths, making her stronger then many vampires. In a way that made her lucky. She survived a lot of battles she really shouldn't have.

"Yeah..." Kyler laughed, "You could say that."
He looked down for a moment, then pretended to continue looking through the items on the shelf, before speaking again, "so these bits and pieces you tend to like to buy... where do you keep em all? I mean, a crypt probably wouldn't be the safest place in the world to leave them, I'd imagine... when you're gone, who knows who'll get in and loiter... take whatever they might want..."

"I don't really own anything," she replied honestly. Only what I can carry and what can be useful. All I have is a sleeping bag, a few weapons and a change of clothes." She gave a weak smile. "That is really it. That and a journal a friend wrote when she was alive."

Kyler laughed a little after he listened to Rogue's reply, "You know... we are actually very alike in some ways... kinda..." he commented, "cept, of course, for the whole being dead thing..."

"How do you figure?" she asked, watching him with curious eyes. "Besides the fact that we don't exactly fit in with the 'group' we belong to."

It was interesting hearing Rogue talk about the new acquaintances as a "group" that they belonged to, and believing herself to be one who didn't quite belong. He didn't think that he felt that way, especially considering how well her and Doc seemed to get along when he saw them talking in the hallway in front of his apartment when Jessy came to him for help.
Nevertheless, it seemed, at least for the moment, that they were all misfits... but a group? Perhaps in time... but Kyler didn't see himself as a part of any 'group' yet.
"Well, apart from a very small amount of things I've got in my dorm at the university I go to, everything I own, I'm pretty much carrying right now." He replied, "though I guess you're kinda right about this group thing as well... but I didn't think you felt as someone who didn't fit in."

"I was referring to the fact neither of us fit in our group as being a bigger thing. Like I don't exactly fit in with vampires and you don't exactly fit in with others of your... 'talent'?" She was unsure of the last part.
"I think our whole group consists of outsiders within their grouping," it was actually rather amusing that as annoyed as everyone was at the fact, no body left. May have felt it was ridiculous but they were all still in the same place and fought against something that preyed upon the weaker.
