Matthew took his coffee back to the table, sitting down as he retrieved his notes from his bag, running over htem in his mind quickly. Rogue's plan, Doc, Raven... thsi entire situation was going to hell in a hand basket and there was nothing the Counccil could do. Oh, they could try, but Rogue was the closest thing to an inside agentt hey had and she had her own agenda.
Annoyed, he exhaled sharply. this mission sucked.

Upon entering the cafe she looked around for a moment, ordering a scone from the counter and a coffee, black before sitting across from Matthew, a researcher the council hired to help gather information. So far he had proved to be valuable with his girlfriend running the local paranormal friendly club.
"You seem... Actually I'm not sure what your expression seems like." She couldn't think of the right word but didn't bother to think on it much.
"Find something out connected with those names you gave me?"

"Oh how i wish I didn't," he said calmly, sliding his notes forward. "Doc apparently is a former member of this 'Raven's' gang who got out to look for his sister and now Raven wants him back. Rogue is getting involved to keep Doc from running. Raven is, apparently, paranoid sociopath with shades of sadism and Rogue has an idea that, quite frankly, is probably going to get her staked by Doc. Oh, and Doc and Rogue apparenlty have feelings for each other," he took a drink of his coffee, growling as he did so. "The next time they want something like this done, YOU can do it."

Chuckling she set her coffee down on the table. "It was you who found the lead so it's you who gets to follow it through."
She took a sip of her coffee before continuing. "Think of it this way, if this vampire kills Raven thats one less badie running around. Wont stop another from stepping in to replace him but there's always someone waiting in the shadows to take control." The world worked that way sadly.
"And where did this sister go?" she asked looking through his notes, doing a quick scan of them.

"I don't know," Doc said. "Council records say she was adopted and then the family dies and she vanishes like a ghost," he shook his head. "I'm not sure if he found her, if he's still looking, it's just... This entire thing is a mess of loosely connected threads and we can't seem to make thm come together other than that these two," his fingers touched the files on Rogue and Doc. "Are so intrinsicaly connected to this whole mess that we can't move wtihout them."

"Thats the problem sometimes, we can't always be directly involved in the goings on around here," she gave a weary smile. "Thats what happens with us researcher types. We gather, inform and we don't really get involved with the happenings but I agree it'd be nicer to have someone we could trust in there and not just waiting to see what happens."
"And you said the guy was human right? And they have feelings for each other? I hope that this vampire slayer vampire doesn't plan on turning him. Last thing the council needs is another Spike and Dru reeking havoc on the world."

"I actually don't think so," Matthew mused. "she's... different. I'm not sure how to explain it, but..." he drummed his fingers against hte table, thinking. "Thre's no malice in her, not really. Sure, it's there, but it's tempered. Controlled. I don't think she'll turn him unless there's no other choice."

"Well, I'll trust you on that since you are the one dealing with them." Part of her wanted to laugh. This all seemed ridiculous. "So any more information on Raven? He seems to have a high profile around those who know about him but covers his tracks to well. Not many of my own contacts know anything about him other than to stay out of his way. None of the council records have any mention of this guy. Seems like no one connected with the council has run into him."

"I have one peace of informatin and if it's any indicaton of what the guys like, I think it's good we're staying out of his way," Matthew stared at her, not even thinking about his next words. "Doc, whoever he is, is absolutely petrified of him. And if this is the guy who, according to council records, is willing to spit in the Council's face and STEAL from tehm... then there's something really, really wrong with this guy."

"Certainly not something I'd want to go face to face with," she agreed.
"So any idea on what this vampire's plan is than?"

Matthew sighed loudly. "She's hasn't told me expressly, but she's asked for a wire tap and a lock pick and whatever she's going to do is going make him hate her. I think..." he shook his head. He hoped his was wrong, but he very rarely was. "I think she's going to use Doc to get into Raven's inner circle."

"Ah... Well... I could see why he would want to try and stake her after that one," she replied a bit surprised. "Why not kill him? Wouldn't it be easier? I mean she's a vampire and she's killed plenty in the past."

"Now you're starting to get into very fuzzy territory," he told her. "I don't think she wants to do it, but she's willing to do it to keep Doc safe. That tap is for evidence, the lock pick so he can escape... this whole act is for Raven's benefit. To get rid of him and keep Doc out of his clutches."

"But wouldn't killing Raven do he same thing? Would certainly keep him safe from retaliation after the fact."

"She can't do that if she can't get close," Matthew pointed out. "and you can't get close to this guy, I've tried."
