"Well, there was..." he reached into his bag again, pulling out a really thick notebook and started leafing through it. "Um... not that one, no... Uh, the 'Darkest Night' and 'Black Sky Fire'. Not supposed to happen for another 50 years," he gaver her a slightly wry grin. "Someone tried to bring the time table forward. Upside, can't happen for another 250 years for either of them."

"Uh... Alright. And how was it stopped?" she asked raising an eyebrow at him.

"I, uh, I'm not at liberty to say," he said hesitantly. Actual answer: Two Slayer commando raids, a heap of magic, and some Tiger power. He wasn't a fighter as a human, but tigers were living killing machines.

She chuckled, taking a sip from the coffee. It was fun to watch him. It was almost cute to watch him be so open and so closed about what she already knew about. Leaning back she crossed her arms across her chest, crossing one leg over the other.

"I, uh, so, um..." he stuttered out. Oh how he wished he could embrace the Tiger here and now. He needed it's confidence so he didn't make an idiot of himself. "What about you? What, exactly, what type of research do you do? What's your field?" that's good, go with something academic, something familiar. that helped.

"Actually, I usually don't do research, I'm usually a consultant for the group I work with. I have experience and skills which are hard to come across these days," she replied, smiling at the slight stutter. With grace she stretched her arms above her head, relaxing the muscles in her back.

"Uh, group?" He asked, trying very hard to ignore her movements and failing spectacularly. "What, uh, what kind of group, exactly?" She definatly wasn't normal, she smelt off for one. Which meant her group wasn't normal. He wondered idly if she was going to pull out the old 'neighborhood watch' scenario.

"That I am not at liberty to say." A grin stretched upon her lips, obviously having way more fun than she should be having. It would be a lie if she denied that she was having an enjoyable time playing with the young were.

"Oh ha ha," he muttered, putting his books away. As he did so, a small amulet shaped like a tiger fell out, a gift from teh shaman that had told him about his abilities, what they meant. He quickly crammed the token back in the bag. It was a symbol to those in the know, which was why he didn't wear it unless he needed info or to intimidate someone.

Really? She resisted the urge to roll her eyes again. "You know, if you want to share your secret with everyone you should just shout it out. I mean really? You act like a girl on prom night about to get her cherry popped."

He gave a chuckle. "I'm a bookworm, not a fighter," he told her. "The amulet was a gift from someone who knew more about this then me. So," he added, looking her over again (and trying to keep from a nosebleed) "Since we're on the subject, what are you, because you smell like a vampire, but you don't act like one."

"Because I am a vampire, but I don't plan on ending the world but I'm not exactly a good guy either. More in between but for some reason I seem to have more humanity than one of the humans I work with. Gets very tedious, I feel like I'm a babysitter," Was more of less true, but as much as he annoyed her she couldn't deny feeling something for the man. He certainly provided entertainment. "In short I'm good and badish." She didn't kill many people, not unless she felt they deserved it.

"Ah, Lawful Chaotic," he joked. "Always interesting."

"One way to put it I suppose," she replied, turning her attention back to the building across the street.

"So, uh, what is exactly so interesting about that building?" He asked innocently, pulling out a different book and opening it to read, taking a sip of his coffee with a wince. "God this crap is bad."
