Referred by: Someone? I don't remember who. It was a billion years ago.
Name: Nicola S. Next.
Age: 24.
Race: Werewolf.
Gender: Female.
DoB: 11th August, 1985.
Appearance:
Nicola is the owner of a rare genetic quirk; violet eyes. They are the product of a condition she inherited from her mother (who in turn got it from her mother and so on) which causes the red and blue reflections to mix and create, in her case, a deep shade of violet. It has no effect on her vision and doesn't remain when she changes into a wolf every month. She stands at about 5'7" with very few curves, defined cheekbones and a natural pout. Her hair (dark and wavy) is usually contained in a ponytail or plaits with the help of rubber bands, but occasionally she'll wear it down for the purpose of trying to hide her eyes. She also tends to dress casual in button-up shirts, patched jeans and scuffed trainers; all the better to fight in. The clothes get tighter and use less material when she needs better tips at work, but showing off a lot of skin isn't something she would consider doing on a regular basis.

Personality:
She never wanted to stand out from the crowd and she definitely never wanted to be a werewolf. Who would choose something like that? She just wanted to be a normal kid, have normal friends, date normal people and grow up to have a normal life. But life taught her to expect the unexpected and after she was (in her own words) cursed, the weight of her affliction became heavy on her shoulders. Trust is hard for her to grasp. Not just because she is a "creature" but because she doesn't want to get someone hurt or indeed be hurt back. It's easier to love someone for a night and then never see them again. Or, in a small town, brush them off the next day with kind but firm words. She is stubborn and opinionated, uncaring if someone thinks she should act a different way, and will always involve herself in the risky stuff whether you like it or not. Death isn't the enemy; life is. Friends are okay. Looking after friends is okay. But she doesn't do sleepovers, she won't share her life story, and she sure as hell won't tell anyone she's a werewolf. Her cover story within the supernatural world is she's just your regular, normal, run-of-the-mill human who knows a little too much about weird stuff, and she likes it that way. Oh and she prefers to be called Nicola, always.
Her wolf form is unpredictable and dangerous. Without boundaries or any human instincts it will attack anything in sight; she makes sure her changes occur within wooded areas or (if she's lucky enough to find one) a cage or room with industrial sized locks. She rarely has any memory of the night before and has to rely on local newspapers to fill in any blanks if she made a mistake. Her sense of smell is more developed than that of a human but she doesn't begin to experience a boost in speed or strength until the day of her first change. Having to change into a wolf for so many years has meant some of the qualities bleed into her human life. She dislikes enduring attention - something she has had to deal with all her life because of her eyes - so she struggles to contain herself and not give in to her wolf side while around other people, particularly the urge to sniff them.
History:
Nicola was born in a sleepy town located in the South of England and spent the first six years of her life there. Her mother left during the winter of '91 and her father, unable to live in a place filled with memories, packed up their bags and took them to live further North where he had family. It was a lot tougher than the ordinary life she'd become used to and Nicola became the victim of bullying because of her eyes; she was teased about being a witch almost constantly, even after her brother (seven years older than her) stepped in to try and put a stop to it. Shortly after she turned fourteen, Nicola, her father and her brother were attacked by a wild animal during a family outing. Both she and her brother were left scratched and alive but her father was killed, and it wasn't long until they were experiencing the consequences of their luck.
They stayed for another three years until their grandmother passed away and left them enough money to start new lives somewhere else. By now they had learned from various resources (books and television being the most useful) what to do every month when they experienced the change and, though they were reluctant at first, she and her brother decided it would be safer if they split up; two wolves could cause a lot more damage. He set off for Europe and she decided to try her luck in America. Once there, Nicola used the last of her money to buy a car and kept to the road, stopping every once in a while to replenish her funds by working at nearby bars. She and her brother were unable to contact each other as often as they'd like due to their nomadic lifestyles. The last time she heard from him was a year ago when he sent a postcard with three words on it: A cure exists.
After years of trying to avoid big cities, her car broke down for the last time on the outskirts of Los Angeles, forcing her to make a temporary home there while she saved up enough money to get a new ride.

Drives:
- Survival - Dying isn't really on her To Do List, you know?
- Knowledge - Books, websites, word of mouth; she'll take it all if it means understanding why things go bump in the night.
Fears:
- The Wolf.
- Losing control of it - specifically in either a public place or, for whatever reason, during a night when she isn't scheduled to change.
Hopes:
- For a cure to be real, no matter how impossible it may seem.
- To get a really good pay rise before the next apocalypse.
