(Just after 'down time')
I wandered through the apparently deserted graveyard, my stake in a pocket, and a knife in my boot. Nicki had left almost half an hour ago, at which time i said I'd be turning in soon too.... but for some reason I didn't leave. I couldn't leave. It felt silly, really, but i kept thinking of the poor sod who got himself bitten, the guy Joshua knew... so many people have no idea of the danger they were in every single night of their lives- so few know about that which i think every day. And tonight, somehow, i felt responsible. Perhaps it was that one indirect question, when Josh said he heard i had a sucessful patrol that night... I wished that i had dusted the vamp that killed his friend, but somehow i doubted it. More- i was pretty certain i hadn't. So now i was walking this cemetery, round and round, over and over, even though i hadn't seen a single vamp for the last three circuits.

I stumbled, half blind, all-drunk into the cemetary, about five minutes before I had actually left the bar. Subconsicously I was thinking, 'I had always wondered what the effects of alcohol would have on my powers. So far, seems to transfer control of them over to my subconscious mind rather than my id-controlled conscious one they're normally under control of.'
I was looking for some vampires, demons, anything evil really, but at some level even I knew that I was in no condition to be patrolling. Didn't stop me from wandering around like a drunk fool between all the tombstones though.
I was on my way past an impressive mauselium when I heard a crunch of leaves somewhere behind me, then the sharp snap of a twig that can only be made by someone stepping on it. Someone of human build, or close enough anyway.
I whirled around, planning on throwing a time bubble that would reduce them to a fetus or age them into dust the moment I saw them. And I would have to, if I hadn't turned smack dab into a protusion of the stone tomb with enough force to knock me unconscious.

I Apeared out of no where and and gave the vamp that was following Joshua a free fireball and said, "D**n, where are my marshmellows?" As Joshua was waking up I looked at him and said, "Thats one of the reasons drinking is bad for your health." As Maya was walking out of the shadows.

"Huh?" I mumbled, not knowing where, and probably not even who I was at the moment.

"Joshua?" I said, and wow, I thought, that might have been actually concern... "What the hell happened?" I asked. There was a trickled of blood running down his forehead, and he reached a hand up to touch it, looking at it without focus. I rolled my eyes, "You're still drunk- what the hell do you think you're doing patrolling when you're drunk, not to mention depressed!?" I shook my head in frustration, then sighed, "Can you stand?"

I vaguely recognized the red liquid that was now in my hand, but not really enough to give it a name yet. Then I think my ear detected sound waves coming through the air and I started looking about for the source.
Finally I managed to focus in on one big fuzzy shape that had a very feminine and attractive figure. Eventually, maybe like two or three seconds after I kept staring at the fuzzy girl, her face came into focus and I recognized Maya.
"Maya! Hi!" I said happily. It might have been over the top, but I was glad to see such a very pretty face.
"Omigawd," she grumbled, shaking her head in her hand, covering her eyes.
Suddenly, the one thing that I never thought *could* happen while I was drunk, did happen. I had a vision of the future.
It was grainy, a bit blurry, but then actually all my future visions were like that. And it was Maya getting ambushed by three vampires. Two she handled with ease, but it was the third that got her. I also saw in the background some guy being held back by some kind of demonic vine plant or something. And me. On the ground, dead from a head injury.
Suddenly I realized that the red liquid on my hand was my own blood. I was bleeding from the head. 'Great. Thanks for the warning!' I thought miserly.
Boy, when they say alcohol slows your reactions, they weren't kidding. Because my vision came true within the next five seconds.

I hadn't planned on going anywhere near the graveyard. It was one of those things. I was walking past, not a problem in teh world...
Then teh Soul Saber I'd received off Nicki reacted in a way it never had before.
"Friends in danger. Help."
"What the holy...?" I started, before seeing a short bision of Joshua bleeding, Maya getting ambushed and TPot being held by some kind of plant. "I'm getting explanations after this is over," I muttered.
The Saber remained silent.

"I swear, you're like a child." I scoffed. "Here, hold still an' i'll see if i can heal this- last damn thing you need is bloodloss to add to your drunkeness." I knelt beside him, and touched his forehead- it was then that three vamps appeared from no where. great, hours of nothing, and then three now! One landed right on Tpot, knocking him out immediately. The other two leapt at me, knocking me backwards, and Josh to the side. "Shit." I exclaimed, using the momentum they gave me to roll backwards and stand. "Come on then, Dusty, lets see what ya got." I taunted. The first one went down to a stake, and after a few minutes of dancing, the other went too- but i didn't see the third...

It was right behind her and in less than a second it would drop her with a blow to the neck and then probably drain her or try and turn her.
Well I wasn't going to stand, or lie on the ground helpless, for it!
"Hell no!" I croaked and reached my hand towards the vampire and exerted all of my power on creating a tiny Time Bubble, and then sending it forth inside of the vampire.
It may have been tiny, but the energy packed into it was just enough to knock the vampire back and keep it from attacking Maya any further. The noise of the vamp getting knocked back alerted Maya to turn around, but before she could do anything, I summoned forth all of the power that I could, conscious or subconscious.
"AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" with a yell, I expanded the time bubble to twice the vampire's size, making sure that the 'force field' aspects were fully in place.
It barely had time to scream before it exploded from the inside out guts, and then dust scattering all over the graveyard.
Only after several moments rest and quiet did I realize that I had forgotten something. The plant vines!

"Ew." I said, grimacing. But at hearing a strangled yell from behind me, i turned to see Tpot in the coils of something... like a plant? Vines? Screw it, i didn't care what it was. A sword materialised in my hands, and i hacked at the plant-demon-viney-thing. But for each cut vine, the others squeezed harder... and at the same time Joshua was looking more and more out of it, the blood flowing quite rapidly from his wound. "Shit!" I yelled angrily. The sword disappeared, and i raised my hand, my eyes flaring black. I saw Tpot's eyes widen in terror as flames erupted around him- but the fear turned to confusion as the magickal flames engulfed the demon plant without hurting him at all. Soon he was dropped to all fours, planting for breath, but demon plant free. I turned now to Joshua, "Not good." He murmured, before passing out. "Bugger." I snapped, supporting his head in my lap, i place both hands on his forehead, above the wound, and closed my eyes, reaching into the earth to heal him. I could feel something else, something near- but if i left Joshua any longer, he would be beyond help. As i felt his life force strengthening, regaining it's hold on this plane, i felt that other presence, very very close....

Passing out is not fun, I've decided. Along with healing my wounds, Maya seemed to be clearing up my head, at least enough that I no longer felt drunk.
Of course, I couldn't possibly know at the time that using my magic to save her life had burned all of the alcohol from my system, but I figured that out later.
But like I said, being passed out is *not* fun, because my conscious mind was aware of just about everything. Pain, sensation, hearing, smelling, touch, all were coming in loud and clear, but I couldn't affect anything. It was like being trapped inside one of my time bubbles, but inside my own body, unable to make it do anything!
I felt the coolness ebbing the heat as Maya stopped my own blood from escaping further, and I felt the magic that she used to stop the plant vines. And . . . I could feel what was still coming.
'If only I was stronger . . .' I cried to myself, unable to help in the fight until my body said I was ready.
Then, on the peripheral of my magical senses, I felt Doc getting closer, at a rapid pace. Unfortunately he would get here just a couple seconds too late...

Come on i thought to myself, willing the magic to work faster, healing Joshua as fast as i could, knowing that whatever that thing was, it was almost here. Doc was near too... and i could feel something... his saber? Yes... tapping into the magicks as i was right now, i could feel mystical energies more clearly than ever, an i felt sure that Doc's saber had bought him to our aid- i only prayed that our friend and his sword could deal with whatever it was...

"Thanks" I finaly managed to say as I staggered over to see how Joshua was doing. "I owe you one." Then Doc ran over "What happened?" He asked, "You missed out on all the fun." I replied "There where vamps and evil plant things, but you missed out."

Isn't it funny how often, when you're so desperate that your need becomes almost a tangible force that magic of all things gives you exactly what you need at that time that you need it, but it exacts a very terrible price later on?
One second I'm still trapped on my body, fully aware of everything around me and trying to warn my friends in *some* way about the direction of the THING that I'm feeling, which is undoubtedly evil, is coming from, and that it has several friends coming from all directions to hem us in like mice at a Cat Buffet.
And then the very next I feel some kind of flush of energy inside myself, which I have begun to recognize as the development of a new power inside me, and the next thing I know I'm suddenly standing on the grass with the rest of my friends . . . looking down at Maya hold and comfort my still unconscious, and slightly dead-looking body.
"Whoa!" I shouted, jumping in fright. "What the HELL just happened?"

I frowned, my eyes snapping open in shock. Joshua's aura had just gone... well... odd. I had almost been done- he would be ok... but now... it had changed- it wasn't gone, but i felt something i had never felt before. I looked around, to see that Tpot was frowning too- their was something palpably wrong around us... but i couldn't see anything out of place.
