"Still cheesy." I giggled, turning to meet him. He caught me in his arms, and for a moment, just a moment, as i looked up into his eyes, on the grassy cliff in the fresh dawn air, i felt like a normal girl, with her normal boyfriend, on a date, where all that mattered was him, and me. I closed my eyes, and kissed him deeply, savouring the moment, hanging on as long as possible to that blissful feeling of carefree normality.

"Hm, depends who its coming from." I said with a smile. He kissed me again, and thought back to just after the first time that ever happened, and the question Nicki had asked, just to piss me off. I didn't know whether she could hear me over usch time and distance, probably not, i thought, but never the less, I thought [Hell yes.] in her direction.

We spent an hour making out on that cliff in ancient Japan, until the sun got high enough in the sky where it was more hot rather than romantic and I ported us back to the same alley, just in case. Mai was surprised when I told her that only thirty minutes had passed here in the present, but I explained that was just so we could have more fun here tonight.
And in all of the emotional "fun" we had back in the past, we realized as our stomachs gave growls of disapproval, we never actually had anything to eat.

I giggled,
"Oops."
"Yeah, oops." He replied. I looked around, and smiled,
"Why dont wee just go set up in the park somewhere? We can put up a barrier or something to keep demons away, and just have ourlittle picnic there? ...And actually eat?" I grinned, thinking of the past hour i'd spent in his arms.
"Why not?" He said with a similar smile, clearly thinking about the same. We walked hand in hand out of the alley, and towards the park.
"Definitely something to tell about the first date." I then said. He looked me a question, and i chuckled, "So where did you go? Oh, just ancient Japan. ... That i could definitely get used to." I told him.

We reached the park with no supernatural interuptions, thank goddess. We found a nice spot, and with a twirl of a finger, i materialised a rug, which Josh laid out with a flourish. We sat down, and i grinned as a big hamper appeared.
"Ooh." I said, remembering the whole no interuptions thing. I got a little pack of herbs from my bag, and sprinkled them in a circle around the rug, said a few hcoice words, and grinned, "No baddies can come near us." I said happily.
"Great." He said smiling, and pulled me back down onto the rug. I giggled as he wrapped his arms around me, and kissed me.
"What about the whole eating thing?" I chuckled.

I grinned as an idea came to me, and with a simple twist of energy, the spell was already forming. "Hang on for a second," I told her, and then casually reached into the portal, but to Maya it looked as if my arm was disappearing.
"What...?" she started to ask, but stopped as I pulled out several strange fruits, and several others that were very familiar. Strawberris, apples, and bananas included in the familiar.
"What is this?" she finally asked after I had pulled out practically an entire buffet of fruit.
"Fruit," I answered simply, trying to hide my growing smile.
Mai squinted her eyes in suspicion and asked, without prying, "Fruit from where?"
"From the Garden of Eden," I answered truthfully and simply. Then the smile I had been hiding finally broke. "Don't worry, I've been there before actually, and so long as people stay away from the center of the garden, just about anybody can visit. No joke."

I giggled again, well aware of how atrociously girly it sounded, and pulled a bottle of wine from the hamper. Glasses appeared before us, and i poured some out, the bottle opened all on its own. Josh held out a strawberry, and i bit into it, juice running right down my chin. I laughed, catching the drips, and smiling at him.

Feeling cheesy again, I slowly leaned forward, and licked the juice from her chin, eliciting another set of giggles from the girl. I love that sound, I decided, but held back from doing anything more when the giggles turned into a soft groan when I pulled back.

"Hm..." I sighed, "Turns out eating is just as distracting."
He smiled, and i felt... it was odd, not something i've ever felt before. I knew the stupid things he had done. I knew how much he had annoyed me. I knew that until about, what, a week ago? I had been convinced that i HATED him, but... well, when he looked at me like that, it all melted away. I giggled again, wow, even i get cheesy sometimes, i thought. I picked up a strawberry, and offered it to him. He bit it, but deliberately let juice drip. I chuckled, rolling my eyes,
"Pathetic." I murmured, licking the juice from his chin, before turning it into a strawberry flavoured kiss. When we came apart, i leant my head on his shoulder, sighing contentedly.

I chuckled at Joshua's thought, and thought back, almost shyly,
[for me too]
His arms tightened a little around me, holding me close, protectively. I smiled, it was the truth.
But in the back of my mind, nagging away as usual, was the knowledge that this could not last forever, however much i wanted it too. Eventually the crappiness that was our lives would catch up once more.
"Kiss me." I murmured, wanting to shove away any negative thought- all i wanted in my mind right now was him.

He kissed me, and once again i was immersed in carefree happiness.
My wonderful world was suddenly shattered by a sense of something, well, bad. Very bad. I pulled away from Josh in shock, and he looked at me, wondering what was wrong. I cast around, but could see nothing.
"Mai...?" He asked, reaching for me.
"No..." I said.
Then there was a blood-curdling scream, and i dropped the magickal barrier, and ran towards the sound.
[I'm so sorry.] i told Joshua.

<It's'kay> I replied, getting up and running right beside her towards the sounds, <By the by, catch> I tossed her a blessed dagger that I had hidden away up my sleave, one of about 15 weapons stored there. And that's just my right sleave.
When we saw the Flargore demons there harrassing a couple of innocent school girls, and this is no joke, they really were catholic school uniform wearing teenagers, not even Jessy's age yet, although judging from their . . .
<JOSHUA!> Mai shouted at my libido.
... uh, never mind. Anyway, with surprising ease, with the two of us there armed with the few weapons that kill Flargores instantly, it took short order to send the girls crying back to their homes.
Mai briefly thought of going after them, but when they met the people who we instantly knew to be their parents, we just shrugged off the event and continued with our date. Only to find more trouble just the next block over as we were trying to get back to our picnic.
