Back Together

[Maya]

((directly after 'searching', when Doc has left Maya's apartment.))

"I missed you." I whispered when i could eventually get words out. Josh kissed the top of my head,
"I missed you too."
"Do you blame me?" I asked simply, unemotionally. Not accusatory in any way, just a simple question. he was silent. I pulled away, looking into his face. Josh looked conufsed and pained, but eventually he said,
"No. Of course not."
"But you did." I said. He opened his mouth, then closed it, then sighed,
"I dont know what i thought... it pretty much just hurt, y'know?"
I nodded.
"I..." He continued, "Of course at some stage i considered that if you'd made the wards stronger..." He shook his head, "But no... if they got through those, they could get through any Mai. It wasn't your fault. It wasn't any one's fault."
"But Charlie was my fault." I said stonily, "It was me that turned her away and gave her a time limit. That was me."
"It was the demons that affected her mind..."
"But I was so rolled up in my own pain that i didn't..." I trailed off, starring blankly. "Our lives suck." I said quietly. He bundled me into his arms again,
"yeah." He said. I wrapped my arms around him.
"Our child is really gone." I said desolately.
"We'll find her." He said, "Some day, we will find our daughter."

[Jackson ''Doc'' Ellison]

(((I think i should start trying to write more Joshua, so...)))

"Well, at least we don't have to do it alone," Joshua said, looking at Avalon. "Could we have a moment alone please, sister dear?"

"I won't be far," she said, exiting the apartment. Joshua whispered a thanks and looked down at Maya.

"I've been looking into things, but no luck so far," he said. "But let's put that aside for now. Right now...I just want to hold you."

[Maya]

I smiled softly at him. It seemed like so long since he'd just held me, and i him. The strength in his arms, the slight tingling sensation where-ever his skin touched my own- this was where i belonged- in Joshuas arms. The odd connection between us was singing like a thread pulled taught. Suddenly i got the strangest feeling- i knew that i would never really get over what had happened, but i now knew for certain that somehow, eventually, it would all work out... it would be ok. I kissed Joshua,
"I love you." I whispered.

[Jackson ''Doc'' Ellison]

"I love you too," He whispered gently. "Come on. Let's get you to bed. You look wasted."

[Maya]

"Will you stay with me?" I asked quietly.

[Jackson ''Doc'' Ellison]

"Always," Joshua whispered, leading her into the room. He couldn't believe his own stupidity, abandoning her like that. But he wasn't leaving her again. Not now, not ever.

[Maya]

I lay down on the bed, and Joshua lay beside me, wrapping his arms around me, his chin rested on my shoulder. For the first time in a long time, I was able to relax. I leant back into his embrace, and finally closed my eyes.
