I stood in the corner of the room, my arms wrapped around myself, and my eyes wide. Chelle and Killian were vampires. I was a vampire slayer... and i so didnt want to follow that thought through. There had to be another way... i would find another orb- i had to.
I knew Jessy would be furious with me, even though i didnt manage to kill Grace.
I hurt in so many ways- with the knowledge that Jess probably hated me, the knowledge that two of my friends were worse than dead, and then of course there was the various wounds from my battle with Grace. My arm, though no longer broken, hurt like hell, along with many other cuts and bruises.
I was still so tense that my eyes were still black, and my hair still red- i was terrified to let my guard down. So i just stood there, wishing Joshua was back already, and forcing myself not to break down.

I blinked a few times, trying to register that someone... Pepper... had spoken to me. I managed to focus on her,
"huh?" I said.
"Whats wrong?"
"Whats not?" I replied.

"So many people to help, so little time," i muttered. "Rory, watch Jess. Bite her again, and I rip you fangs out," the souled vampire actually blanched as I walked out too Maya, still jacked up.
"Maya?" I whispered.
"Don't ask me what's wrong," she said darkly.
"Okay," I said, sitting down beside her. "You know this is only the beginning, right? Grace's decided to target you, personally for some reason. She's going to go after every person you care about."
"Is this supposed to make me feel better?" She snapped. "Just letting you know that so you'll understand if Jessy or me dust her ass first."
"No," I said with a wicked grin, a plan in mind. "

It was happening all over again. Everyone i cared about... I wouldn't let it happen- i couldn't.
"I'm gonna find her." I said suddenly, heading for the door
"Mai!" Doc cried, grabbing my arm to hold me back. I cried out in pain, but stopped. Doc winced, "Oh crap, sorry..."
I shook my head,
"Not your fault." I croaked. I looked at him, tears in my eyes again, "Oh goddess, Doc... i screwed up again, didn't i?"

"hey-ey-ey-ey-ey," I said, hugging her gently. "If anyone's screwed up tonight, it's me."
"Wha-" she began.
"Look, if you're talking about going after Grace, I'm sure Jess'll forgive you," I said, ignoring the obvious question that she had been about to ask. "She's done a lot tonight, and we're gonna get her back. But it's gonna happen together, as the family we are. Understand?"
"Yeah," she said relunctantly.
"Now," i continued. "I believe there's someone you need to talk to?"

"Jessy." I said, looking at her but barely able to focus through my tears. "I'm sorry." I said, "I just didn't want you to get hurt, as you would have if you went after her tonight."
"You got hurt." Jessy countered.
"Exactly." I replied, and headed for the door again.

"That went well," I muttered. "you two are as stubborn as each other."
"She..." Jessy began.
"Jesy, think for two seconds," I said. "Maya's a mega powerful Wicca cross Slayer, and Grace managed to break her arm. What do you think sahe could have done to you?" The shifter was quiet, thinking about that. "Just...promise me you won't go after her without me or Maya or Del or someone watching your back."
