They wern't at the Spot, or Jessy's appartment. Then something told me to swing by the motel. I climbed a tree, aiming to enter through an open window. I sat on the sill looking in and saw them. Apart from some wounds they seemed fine. I dropped from the window, satisfied.

Pepper's wounds were nasty but not too deep. I hoped Mai came back soon. Her healing could be useful. Suddenly I heard a slight noise and turned to the window. But there was nothing there.

"Probably a cat." As if to prove me right, a faint mewing was heard. "Peps, can I tell you something?"
"Sure Jess."
"You know how Mai is gonna be the one to stake Grace?"
"Yeah?" Pepper leaned forward slightly.
"Well, I really want to do it."

We stood in the centre of a ring formed by the remaining four vampires- one of whom was Rachelle- one of us on either side of Killian. Both of us had our soul weapons out, and my hair and eyes still showed my heightened magickal state... though i didnt know how long i could sustain it. I knew Grace was watching impatiently from the shadows.
"Chelle." I said, "You got an easy choice- come with us- we can restore your soul..."
"Oh yeah right." She snarled.
"Its better than the other choice." I snapped.
"Really? and what would that be?"
"Me staking you." I said through gritted teeth. She laughed, leaning right up to me, almost seductively,
"You couldn't do it." She said.
"You'd be surprised." I replied as images of my brother's shocked face as the wood pierced his heart an his body began to disintegrate flashed through my mind. "Please, Rachelle, step aside."
"Not gonna happen, Slayer." She replied.
"Fine." I snapped, and moved with incredible speed, whacking her under the chin with the hilt of my sword, and all the strength i had. She flopped unconscious on the floor.
"Three left." I called out to Grace. "Not lookin' good, is it?"

I appeared next to Maya and smiled, "You left some for me," I said, then I drew a sword, an inscription on the blade said yngyl im <Spiders Bane>, I lunged at a vampire struck, the sword went straight through it, "Th is sword is known as Binder to the poeple that don't speak the ancient tounge." I said, "Attack," The vampire that I had struck attacked the nearest other vampire.

"Cool trick," I said. I looked at the last vamp, who was sizing me up carefully. "Where's Grace?"
"Why should I tell you?" the vamp sneered. I smiled coldly, ice water running through my veins.
"Because, homme, if you don't, I will ensure dat you're final moment will be more painful den even the lowest demon in hell can imagin. I will take you're eyeballs and hang dem in my living room as trophies. I will use you're guts for a new belt. De question, homme, isn't why should you tell me. It's why should you protect her? Is she worth it? She's probably half way out of tow by now, lweaving you to your fate? Well, homme? What's de answer?"

"I think you should go to sleep now, Pepper. Mai will come and help later. I hope," I added under my breath. For all I knew, Mai could be battleing Grace and her minions right now. I laughed. I was being silly. Mai had said she'd take a quick look around with Rory and that was what she was doing. She wouldn't take on Grace without telling us. We could trust her. Or so I thought.

"You're worried about Maya aren't you" I said. "Well lookie here. Now we can see whats happening, don't worry Jess" And with that I opened a window to where Maya was standing.
