"Ow!" I cried as a vampire slashed my shoulder open. Blood soaked through my fur, turning the dark orange crimson. As Maya and Grace didn't seem to want any guests in their fight the remained vampires had turned to me. "Dusted". I muttered as I severed the head of one of my attackers. The rest swarmed in on me "Jessy, little help here" I called. Jessy was standing, staring at the vampire who'd killed Rory.

As seemed to happen far too often to me, my mind and body were once more filled with so much pain and emotion all at once. Sorrow and Rory and Rachelle's deaths- elation at the knowledge that it was still possible to save them. Anger at this bitch for hurting my family, and pity for Jessy, for i knew how she felt. So as Grace swung her axe with expert speed, i grinned, exploding upwards with the force of all that feeling. The soul sword could not decimate the magic axe as it had the swords, but that merely meant we got into a good flow. One of Grace's swings came down hard, and the muscles ached for pushing the sword up with all my might to stop the axe crashing down onto my head. She was VERY strong.
Suddenly, a wave of anguish, self doubt, grief... but also joy and an odd, incredible strength, hit me like a mental pile driver, and I yelled out in mised emotion, thrusting the sword up and sending the axe flying. The sword kept going, and i shoved it further forward, the end of the sword driving into Grace's midriff. She cried out in pain and fury, and punched my hard, knocking me back...

I screamed in annoyance and pain as the bitch drove her sword into me. I punched her back, and she stumbled, grinning at me in elation. I put my hand to my wound, my clothes were now stained with blood. I screamed again in anger, and kicked at her face, sending her stumbling back, then again at her hand, which held to sword, and suddenly she was weaponless. "Let's do this without play toys, shall we?" I said, then kicked her again.

I felt great. No, I felt better than great. For the first time, i truly felt alive. I felt strong, and powerful, and people around me knew it. And I had Grace to thank for it. It didn't hurt. Well, not for long anyway. When I woke up, i felt a bit dizzy, but after a while, I worked out this was because i was hungry. I was fighting Jessy, a former friend, a girl who i had liked when I was human, but hated now I was this...a vampire. She knew how I felt. She knew i was powerful and strong, and hungry. Yet she fought me. Did she think she would win? No...she had already lost. Her precious boyfriend was a vampire...she had already lost something that meant a lot to her...
Killian fought me now, and i could see how much it tore him up to be fighting me, but i bared my teeth...my new weapons, and I punched him. He would become like me and Grace...they all would.

This time, when Grace's foot impacted my face, i used the momentum to flip over backwards and find my feet again.
"Fine with me." I snarled, even though i knew i could retrieve the sword easily. I snap kicked he chest, but she merely stumbled, recovering quickly to spin low, trying to sweep out my feet. I leapt up, and came down fast to land on her trailing ankle. I heard it snap, and she yelled out in pain. But she was tough, she forced herself to stay standing, grabbing at me, kneeing me in the midriff with her bad leg, and throwing me down, to grab my arm and twist it back painfully- i heard- and felt- the sickening crack. I screamed, and she laughed. I turned, totally furious now, and punched her in the side of the face- the blow would have killed a human out right, and she fell to the ground with a wail. I kicked her in the stomach, right where i'd stabbed her. She rolled with it, and forced herslef up. We stood opposite eachother in limp, painful, fighting stances.
"Had... enough.... Slayer?" She panted.
"Like.... like hell." I managed to reply. I thought over the situation- she had a broken ankle, a stab wound, and various other cuts and bruises. I had a broken arm, possibly a broken nose, and i was pretty sure that it wouldn't be long before one eye would be swollen enough to obscure my vision- of course all my ailments could be healed with magic, but i didnt have time, and besides, for some reason i wanted this to be a straight out fight. "Come on!" I growled at her, and lunged, striking with my left fist as my right was out of action. She stumbled again. I yanked a stake out of my waist band, ready to strike, but suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a panther leapt past me at the vampire, getting in the way and preventing my thrust.
"Jessy NO!" I yelled. The vampire rolled out of the way just in time, kicked the cat hard in teh stomach, and srcambled to her feet, fleeing with a cry of,
"Til next time, slayer!"

I yelled, and several vampires who survived the fight helped me out of the building, and some ran out, as did the demon I sired. I grabbed the boy, knocked him out and carried him out as I escaped. The slayer was wounded, I was wounded, and we both wanted it to be a fair fight...then we could see who the best man was...or rather, woman.

Jessy growled, starting after them, but i pulled her back as best i could- she was wounded, as was Pepper, and you some bitter part of my mind reminded me.
"Dont, jess." i breathed, "We'll finish this later."
"She took Killian!" Jessy yelled.
"I know." I said fornlornly. Take Pep to the Dojo, ok? Rory and I will check out this place and follow, ok?"
She looked at me suspiciously, but as Pepper tottered a little, jessy caught her, and nodded,
"Fine." She snapped, and started out, darkmoon nodding to me and following. I looked to Rory once they'd gone, but he already knew what i was going to say.
"You're wounded." He said.
"I know, but they have Killian."
"Maya..."
"Please, just watch over the others."
"Maya!"
"Please!" I cried. he looked unhappy, but nodded. "Ok." i said. I closed my eyes, drawing on some of my power to at least try to mend my arm- this would not be fun.
"Maya?" Rory said just as i was leaving. "be careful."
"Always." I replied, and ran off after the vampires.
Due to various wounds, they were easy enough to follow thanks to the blood trails. But i knew Grace would be waiting, and whether i liked to admit it or not, i was not in a great state to be fighting. I reached another warehouse, and stopped at the door, peering in...
Killian was lying motionless on the floor in the middle of the warehouse.
"Shit." i said to myself.

We never made it to the Spot. Pepper collapsed less than halfway there. Instead I took into the motel I'd stayed in when I'd first arrived. As she lay on a bed I sat in a small wicker chair and thought. I thought how my past and present were coming together, and how they were shaping my future. Next thing I knew my 'father' would be showing up. Without realising it, I fell asleep.

I stood there a moment. I could go check on Jessy and Pepper or I could see to maya, who seemed weakened for the moment.
"Stay safe, daughter mine," I whispered into the wind, heading after Maya. Charlotte needed her space, I'd give it to her. I was needed elsewhere for the moment.
But if she was hurt, what I had planned for Grace would be nothing compared to waht I'd do to the one that hurt her.

Ok... i thought, searching mentally for i could see noone but Killian in the warehouse. It was clearly a trap... but i couldn't sense anyone... and that was definitely bad. I knew i had to get to Killian, but running straight in there was suicide. Ok. i thought again- lets pray i have enough strength for this. I sat on the ground, my back to the wall by the door, and summoned my strength...
*third person*
Grace, watching the unconscious boy in wait of the slayer she knew would follow, while a minion tended her wounds, smiled- the slayer was near, and if the spel was working right, she would't be able to tell how many vamps there were, or where they were. When she... aha.
The slayer appeared. She crept across the room, her broken arm tucked to her side, and went to Killian, glancing around, and Grace signalled her guys. The ten remaining vampires rushed out of the shadows to surround the slayer. She grinned.
*back to Maya*
It had worked. I glanced round the doorframe to see ten vampire's surrounding the glamour of my own form. Ten. I could take ten. It was only grace and rachelle i was worried about, for neither of them had appeared. Gathering my strength, i stepped out, dusting half the vamps with a gesture. Somewhere in the shadows, Grace roared...

I moved towards teh warehouse, a demonic roar coming from inside. Sounds like someone's pissed.
I walked in to see three vamps coming towards Maya.
Three vamps and Rachelle. My eyes went wide as i realised that she had no soul. She'd been turned.
"That's two I owe her," I said, moving to Maya's side. "Need a hand?"

"Jessy?" I said faintly, coming into conciosness at last. " I'm getting knocked unconscioness a lot recently" I said looking down at my arms and sides where the vampires had ripped through the fur. "You okay Jess?" I asked her

"Doc." i said, unable to keep the relief from my voice. i didn't ask where charlie was, or how he had found me, i just held out my hand, the hilt of my soul sword materialising in it, "Play time." I said with fake enthusiasm as the energy blade emerged.
