"last one there...oh what the heck" I grimaced and sped off down the tunnel. I was in a giant cave, filled with crystalised souls and...my father was lying there. Sure enough, above him was the demon, shadowy as ever clutching Jessy. "This is for Mom" I yelled and sped at him.

"Pep!" I cried as she threw herself a the demon. it cried out in pain, so she must have got a hit, but it batted her away. She was up again in a moment. I intensified my light spell, knowing that shadow demons hated light more than anything. Then i attacked too...

Damn. Why did they always pick on me? I struggled a bit, then screamed a bit and then got down to the suprise attack. Shifting a bit. Except general shifters don't have armour. But it didn't work. He'd been expecting that. Well, the armour came as a shock. Otrherwise I was as helpless as before. Damn

Darn. I couldn't hurt him. I shifted back, no point in wasting energy. He wasn't a demon of my demension and I had an idea only Peps could hurt it. But she was too vulnerable. Mai had been thrown aside easily. Then I had an idea. I quickly slipped of the bracelets and collar. "Pepper! Catch!"

"Huh" I yelled whirling round as jessy's shifting armour landed on me.
"Mai" I yelled, "Get jess, Mr-Shadows here is mine" Out of the corner of my eye I saw Maya attacked the demon and vaguely heeard a triumphant cry from Jessy but that changed as the demon swung towards me and made direct eye contact.
I saw something in there, that made me even angrier than I had ever been before. then i realised it's weak point. I lungged at it with the dagger, swiping, scratching, clawing in as many different forms as i knew of and even some I didn't. I could hear it's cries of pain and anger but I didn't care.
Suddenly I heard a slice and the armour gave, falling back to Jessy. "Oops" I whispered, Doc was NOT gonna be happy. In that spit second I was not concentrating, the demon used its chance. I was ripped back to reality and felt a blinding pain accompanied with blood pouring down my fur. I realised it's swipe, fuelled with anger and desperation had gone right through to my heart.
Strangely i felt at peace and a shining mist surrounded me. There was a flash of intense pain and I realised I was glowing. I WAS the spirit, the essence of my people and I had taken the legendary form of the spirit lynx. I lunged at the demon, one last time.
The demon groaned, thrashing wildly. After a while it solidfied. I had killed it.... at last
I vaguely remembered that I was falling..a long way.....in human form, my clothes all but shreaded, a giant red spot on my chest and something heavy landing on top of me before verything blacked out.

"They're back," I said, then noticed Pepper. A started swearing in every language I knew as I got out my first aid kit. I wasn't sure what good it could do, but I'd try.
I spared a glance at teh others. Injured, yes, but not quite as bad as Pep. I'd see to her first.

I groaned and rolled over, opening my eyes. One look gave me adrenelin I didn't want. "Peps!" I ran over and stood behind Doc.

I.....I was floating. It was pitch black and I was floating in nothingness. I was freezing. Warmth.....It was coming from the darkness, ingnoring the vague, muffled voices from the brighter side, I slowly drifted down to the warmth.
