"Charlie, what are you doing here?" Doc asked somewhat surprised to see me.
"No reason I shouldn't be here." I replied cooly.
"B-but Zoe."
"Is right here." I cut him off with, indicating the bundle I was carrying. "It's not like just 'cos I have a kid I have to sit home all day and night. Besides, what does it matter to you? 'We have a cute little girl but we're not together.' That seems pretty clear so last I checked I was free to do what I want."
"I just meant...well is it safe to bring Zoe out in the middle of the night?"
"Less cotton wool Doc. She's gotta see the world for what it is."
"But she's a baby."
"Yeah? Well better sooner than too late."
